【原文】 M: Welcome to the museum tour. Please allow me to express a warm welcome and I’m honored to show you around. First I will go over the map with you in the hall in case you get lost. Do not worry if you get lost. You can ask one of our staff members for directions. After we get out of the hall, our first stop will be the Egyptian section. This one has our oldest art in it. Next, I will take you to the Asian art and ancient objects on the left. This is my favorite section, because each piece has a wonderful story. The tour’s last part will be the European section. We have borrowed some of those items from the National Museum! The first thing you should notice is the writing below each piece. I will speak about most things, but you can also check the information there. No photo is to be taken here, so please turn off your cameras. Most importantly, please do not touch any of the art! The oil on your hands will damage these ancient objects!

Senior secondary school is a new start. Studying is definitely a big part of my life. I tend to set a goal for every subject at the beginning of each term. My aim is to do well in every subject this term. Biology is my favourite subject, and my target is to prepare myself for my degree in biology at university. I am always attentive in all classes and think actively, so that I can have more free time to do other things that I’m interested in after school.
I like reading books of all kinds. I have a top 10 reading list and I try to keep it updated. Meanwhile, I’m an active member of my school’s long-distance running team and volunteering club. It always makes me excited to work hard and achieve a team goal together.
To achieve all I want, I must use my time well. At school, I do my homework when I have spare time. After school, I try to use any possible time to revise the things I have learnt during the day. For example, it usually takes me 20 minutes to get home by bus. I often use the time to review English words. As the popular saying goes, “Every minute counts!”
Set a goal and get ahead!

After entering high school, you may find there are many clubs at your school. You may think you’re too busy to join one. But as a former high school student, I can tell you joining a school club can greatly benefit you.
Your old friends may have left you after entering high school. And it means you need to meet new people. Joining a club allows you to talk with others and find those who have similar interests as you. Based on my experience, I have met some of my best friends from club activities which opened up many new doors for me.
Another really nice thing about joining a club is that it looks really good on your applications(申请书). Trying new things is something that looks really good on any application. Being outgoing is considered a very good quality. What’s more, it can help you develop skills that can serve you during future college interviews.
Besides, joining a club can make students use their free time wisely. Most teens go to schools, then go back home and spend the rest of the day in front of a screen. Teens are also very likely to fall into the wrong crowd, which could lead to some bad results. Clubs are good places to spend time, with good people to fall back on.
The most important reason why you should join a club is the long-term benefits it brings. The skills you learn in clubs are necessary ones that can be used in everyday life, which I think is the final goal of joining a club.
So if you haven’t joined a school club yet, you know what you should do now.

A.Teens today aren’t so interested in joining clubs.
B.Some classrooms are not big enough for students.
C.Doing club activities can help teens attend a good university.
D.Joining a club helps keep students away from doing bad things.
30.In the author’s opinion, what’s the greatest benefit of joining a club?
A.Developing new hobbies.
B.Meeting different people.
C.Getting useful life skills.
D.Making use of your free time.
31.What’s the best title for the text?
A.Why Should You Join a Club?
B.What Club Should You Join?
C.How Can You Join a Club You Like?
D.Should You Join a Second Club?
D
Freshman year of high school is a big transition (过渡) for any student.
Luckily, you’re not the only person going through this, and plenty of others have made the transition before you too.
One of the ways in which high school is different from middle school or junior high the most is the higher expectations. You’ll find that you’re expected to keep closer track of your own schedule and responsibilities with fewer people checking up on you. At the same time, your classes are likely to become more challenging, and you might be participating in new school activities as well.
Some students find it hard to keep up with everything at first, which is totally normal. One way to prepare in advance for these higher expectations is to make sure that you have organized schedules in place before you start high school.
Another important skill for meeting these higher expectations is building a strong support network. No matter how strong a student you are, at some point you will need some help. Keeping healthy relationships with your friends and teachers is a great way to make sure that you have people who are willing to help when you need them.
Try to get to know at least some of your teachers beyond your classroom communication. Be an active learner during class and stay after class to ask questions. Take advantage of email or class messaging systems. The better your teachers know you, the better prepared they’ll be to help when you need them.
It’s important for you to keep in mind as you start high school that no one is perfect. Transitions are hard for everyone, and starting high school is a big transition. These challenges provide a great chance to reinvent (重塑) yourself.
32.In the author’s view, the biggest difference between high school and middle school is __________.
A.different relationships B.the higher expectations
C.high study achievement D.the higher pressure
33.Which of the following suggestion is not mentioned in the text?
A.Careful schedules. B.Healthy relationships.
C.Reinventing yourself. D.Using network information.
34.Who is the article written for?
A.Students in junior school. B.Teachers in high school.
C.Parents of high school students. D.Students in senior high school.
35.What is the best title for the text?
A.How to Get Through the Transition of Freshman Year of High School
B.How to Become an Active Learner in High School
C.What to Prepare to Keep up with Everything in High School
D.How to Meet Your Teacher’s High Expectations
