In the summer of 2025, fifteen-year-old Lin Yutong noticed that several children often waited at a community service centre while their parents were at work. Most of them spent the time looking at phones. Lin wanted to bring books closer to them.
At first, the idea seemed 11 because there was no spare room and little money. Instead of giving up, Lin drew a simple 12 for a rolling bookshelf made from old wooden boxes. The workers worried that it might not be safe, so Lin asked her technology teacher for 13. Together, they made the bookshelf stronger.
Lin then posted a message online and invited neighbours to 14 books. Within a week, she received 180. Lin and her friends cleaned and sorted them. They chose 15 books for different age groups rather than putting every book on the cart.
On the first Saturday, a shy boy watched from a distance. Lin did not push him to join. She opened a picture book and read 16. Soon, the boy moved closer. At the end, he asked to borrow the book. That moment made every hour of work 17.
Now the reading cart visits three places each weekend. Lin says the biggest change is not the number of books but the stronger community 18. Students take turns as reading guides, and parents share stories. What started as a small 19 has become a warm meeting point. For more than 3,000 years, messages on oracle bones have waited to be fully understood. Oracle bones are pieces of animal bone or turtle shell on which people in ancient China wrote questions about weather, farming and daily life. Many pieces are broken, and some characters look different from the Chinese characters used today. This makes the work slow and difficult.
Now digital technology is offering researchers a new tool. First, workers take clear photographs of each piece from several directions. A computer then builds a three-dimensional model, so experts can study the surface without touching the real object. This protects the bones, which may be damaged easily.
Artificial intelligence, or AI, can also compare thousands of character shapes in a short time. It may suggest that two broken pieces once belonged together, or that an unknown mark is similar to a known character. In the past, an expert might have needed weeks to make such comparisons. A computer can narrow down the choices within minutes.
However, AI does not always get the right answer. A crack may be mistaken for a line, and the same character may have been written in several ways. The computer also cannot fully understand the historical background behind a question. Therefore, human experts must check every suggestion and decide whether it makes sense.
Some museums now share digital models online. Students can turn the models around, enlarge the marks and try matching pieces themselves. In this way, technology not only helps research but also brings ancient writing closer to young people. The goal is not to let machines replace experts. It is to let people and machines use their different strengths to solve an old puzzle together.
26. Why is it difficult to study oracle-bone writing?
A. The bones can only be found online.
B. The pieces are often broken and the writing has changed.
C. Researchers are not interested in daily life.
D. The bones were written less than 300 years ago.
27. What can a three-dimensional model help experts do?
A. Study a bone without touching it. B. Make a new bone from stone.
C. Translate every character at once. D. Change a crack into a clear line.
28. What does “narrow down the choices” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Make the choices more beautiful. B. Add more possible answers.
C. Reduce the number of possible answers. D. Hide the choices from researchers.
29. Why must human experts check AI's suggestions?
A. AI cannot take photographs. B. AI may mistake cracks for written lines.
C. Experts work faster than computers. D. Experts need to protect online models.
30. What is the writer's main idea?
A. Ancient writing should only be studied by machines.
B. Digital technology can support—but not replace—human research.
C. Oracle bones are too difficult for students to understand.
D. Museums should stop showing real historical objects.

When Mia told her mother that she wanted to join the school English radio team, she expected a smile. Instead, Mum said, “Your ideas are good, but you need to work on your pronunciation first.”
Mia heard only the second half. “So you don't think I can do it,” she replied, and closed her bedroom door. For the next few days, she practised alone. She recorded the same introduction again and again, but each time she heard a small mistake, she deleted the whole recording. She also stopped telling Mum about the audition(试音).
On the morning of the audition, Mia's hands shook. Just before leaving home, she found a note in her schoolbag: “Your voice does not have to be perfect to be worth hearing. Breathe, slow down and tell the story as only you can. Love, Mum.” Beside the note was a card with three simple breathing exercises.
Mia did not know that Mum had heard her practising through the thin wall. She had asked an English teacher for advice and copied the exercises onto the card. At the audition, Mia made one pronunciation mistake. For a second, she wanted to stop. Then she remembered the note, took a slow breath and continued. She was later chosen to present a weekly book programme.
That evening, Mia and Mum talked honestly. Mum admitted that she had given advice too quickly, before asking what kind of help Mia wanted. Mia admitted that she had treated a suggestion as a final judgement. They made a family rule: before giving advice, ask, “Would you like me to listen, encourage you, or help you solve the problem?”
The rule did not end every disagreement, but it changed the beginning of their conversations. Sometimes understanding starts not with a perfect answer, but with a better question.
31. Why did Mia close her bedroom door?
A. She wanted to record in silence. B. She thought her mother did not believe in her.
C. She had forgotten the audition time. D. She did not like the radio programme.
32. What did Mia's mother put beside the note?
A. A new microphone. B. A list of radio programmes.
C. A card with breathing exercises. D. A teacher's phone number.
33. What helped Mia continue after making a mistake?
A. The judge changed the question. B. She remembered her mother's words.
C. Another student spoke for her. D. She listened to her old recording.
34. What did Mia and her mother both realize?
A. Advice should always be accepted at once.
B. Family rules can prevent every disagreement.
C. English pronunciation is more important than ideas.
D. Good communication requires listening to each other's needs.
35. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. A Better Question B. The Perfect Voice
C. A Difficult Book D. The Weekly News
When an Old Craft Meets a Digital Museum
A traditional craft can be hard to keep alive when only a few people know how to make it. Today, some museums are building digital collections to help. The recording process begins before the object leaves the workshop. 36 These records save not only the finished object but also the movements and decisions behind it.
Take a handmade lion head as an example. A craft worker bends bamboo, covers it with paper and paints different patterns. A small change in the frame can change the lion's expression. 37 Visitors can turn the model around and look inside it, which is difficult to do with a real lion head in a glass case.
38 Museum workers may add short videos in which craft workers explain why they choose a colour or how they fix a mistake. They may also create an online game that lets students design a pattern. It allows them to see how one choice changes the whole work.
Digital tools are useful, but they can make mistakes. A camera may record a colour differently, and a computer model may miss the feeling of paper or cloth. 39 They know which details carry the craft's history and which steps must not be simplified.
A digital museum cannot replace learning face to face from a real craft worker. 40 When young people first meet a craft online, they may become curious enough to visit a workshop, ask questions or even learn the skill. In that way, technology becomes a bridge rather than an end.
A. But a digital copy is only the beginning.
B. So the best projects always let craft workers check the digital record.
C. They use special cameras to record every tiny detail and every important step.
D. However, it can open a door for people who live far from the craft's home.
E. A three-dimensional model can show these hidden parts clearly.

One Cup Less
After the school sports day, fourteen-year-old Tang Yan saw cleaners sorting several large bags of disposable(一次性的)cups. Many cups had been used for only a few minutes. She wondered whether students could enjoy drinks without creating so much waste.
Yan and three classmates first asked 120 students why they used disposable cups. Most said they often forgot to bring a bottle. The group then asked the school canteen for a small rack and collected forty reusable cups donated by families. Each cup had a number. A student could borrow one with a student card and return it before going home.
During the first week, only six cups were borrowed. Some students worried that the cups were not clean enough. Instead of blaming them, Yan's group wrote down every washing step and invited the school nurse to check the process. They put the clear instructions beside the rack and posted a short video online. That openness built trust. By the end of the month, the school was using nearly half as many disposable cups as before.
The project also changed Yan. In the past, she often waited until she had a perfect plan. This time, she started with a small trial, listened to questions and improved the system. “A good idea is not something you protect from problems,” she said. “It is something you make better because of them.”
The cup rack is still in use, and a younger group now manages it. Yan is proudest not of the numbers but of the fact that the project continued after she stepped back.
46. What did Tang Yan see after the school sports day?
47. Why did most students use disposable cups?
48. How did Yan's group make students trust the reusable cups?
49. What does “That openness” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
50. What can you learn from Yan's project? Give one idea.

得分点:cleaners;sorting several large bags of disposable cups。
得分点:often forgot to bring a bottle。可用They often forgot their bottles表达。
51. waste。food waste
52. started。
53. carefully。
54. Although。
55. us。taught
56. taught。
57. the。in the right way为固定表达。
58. to practise。ask sb. to do sth.,
59. more patient。
60. an。

A Small Change, A Better Me
I want to make a small change in the coming seven days. I will stop using my phone too late at night. First, I will leave it in the living room at 9:30 and read a paper book for twenty minutes. Second, I will record my bedtime and feelings each morning. I choose this plan because enough sleep can help me think clearly at school. I will invite my cousin to join me, so we can remind and encourage each other.
3. 迁移表达:用Mia与母亲的家庭规则开展一分钟口语活动:“Do you want me to listen, encourage you or help?”
