(1) The word endings -ist, -er, -ian and their meanings (person who does something / person who studies something).
(2) The target vocabulary: spread, wise, elder, calendar, radio, look up to, pioneer, courage, pilot, come true, encourage.
(3) Using correct word forms (e.g., wise -> wisdom, spread -> spreading, encourage -> encouraged) in different contexts.

三、Teaching Tools
Textbook (Unit 2, p.8), blackboard and colored markers, vocabulary cards (showing -ist/-er/-ian words), printed exercises (2a-2c), PPT (optional), dictionary.
四、Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Warm-up and Lead-in (5 mins)
1. The teacher writes three words on the blackboard: scientist, historian, chemist. Then asks students: "What do these words have in common?"
2. The teacher guides students to find the common ending "-ist" and explains that it means "a person who does or studies something".
3. The teacher shows pictures of different professionals (a scientist, a historian, a chemist, a physicist) and asks students to say their names in English.
[Purpose] To activate students' prior knowledge about professions and introduce the word formation pattern -ist/-er/-ian.
Step 2: 2a - Circle the Correct Words (10 mins)
1. The teacher asks students to read the five sentences in 2a carefully and circle the correct word in each sentence.
(1) scientist (2) historian (3) chemistry (4) biologist (5) physicist / researcher
2. The teacher checks answers with the whole class and asks students to explain why they choose that word.
3. The teacher asks students to write down three more words ending with -ist, -er, or -ian on their notebooks (e.g., artist, doctor, musician).
4. The teacher writes some extra words on the board and asks students to guess the meaning: pianist, journalist, technician.
