Passage B
In 2023,16yearold Cao Chenzhe from Taizhou,Jiangsu, gave 5,000 yuan to the Disabled Persons' Federation (残疾人联合会) in Jiangsu to help children. The money was for his brave act of using the Heimlich manoeuvre (海姆利克氏急救法) to save a classmate's life.
Cao clearly remembered that day. One evening in March,he was having dinner at the school canteen. Then he saw a classmate's face turning purple.
“Oh,no,something is stuck in his throat!” Cao quickly found the problem and used the Heimlich manoeuvre.
Standing behind his classmate,Cao pressed hard into his chest (胸膛) with upward thrusts (向上推力). After he tried many times,a large rice ball came out of the classmate's mouth.
Cao learned the Heimlich manoeuvre during a safety education class at Jiangyan Licai Experimental School. “The teacher showed us how to do it and we practised with each other,” said Cao.
The school often organizes safety education classes and encourages students to take online classes on the School Safety Education Platform of the Ministry of Education (教育部学校安全教育平台). When talking about safety education,Cao wished students of his age to take it seriously. “Every student should learn to protect themselves and others in a useful way,” he said.

Passage 1
Family life is like a strong tree with many branches. Each branch shows a different part of family relationships, daily life, and time spent together. In most families, people share not only a house but also their feelings and experiences. They eat meals together, talk about what happened during their day, enjoy happy moments, and help each other when things are difficult. These everyday activities build strong family connections.
Of course, family life isn't always perfect. Sometimes parents and children disagree, or brothers and sisters argue (争论). These small problems are normal when people live together. What's important is not avoiding all arguments, but how family members solve them. By talking openly and trying to understand each other, families can actually become closer through these experiences.
Today, family life has changed in some ways. Many parents have jobs that keep them busy, and children spend much time at school with homework and activities. Even with busy schedules, families find special ways to stay close. Some plan regular fun activities like watching movies or playing games together. Others enjoy going out on weekends. These shared moments help keep family bonds (纽带) strong.
The true importance of family life comes from having a place where you are always listened to and cared for. In such a home when you have a bad day or face a difficulty, you know you are not alone. Your family is there to support you, share your feelings, and help you find solutions. This loving and safe environment is what truly helps each person grow, become more confident, and feel strong enough to handle any problem in life.

( )4.According to the passage, what is most important in a family?
A.Having a big and nice house.
B.Never having any disagreements.
C.Making a loving and supportive home.
D.Always following family rules.
( )5.What can we know from the passage?

Passage 2
The biggest influence that technology has on family time is the change of it. People used to spend more time with their family members before. Nowadays, with children (and the parents, too) spending more time texting, watching movies and television, playing video games, and listening to music on smart phones, when will the family find time to bond (培养感情) and create lasting memories together?
Far too often we don't pay more attention to making time for members of our own family. By the end of a long day at work or school, members of the family want to relax. And now that technology use is widespread (传播) across the country, normally our “relaxing” is also known as spending time on smart phones.
Not only is the amount of family time affected by technology, but also the quality. Technology can affect the quality in different ways. For example, family members can be distracted (使分心) by their phones while trying to play a board game together, which wouldn't have happened if the phone didn't exist in the first place.
If “family time” means everyone sitting in the same room while playing online, what value is there? Personal communication is key to time well spent with loved ones. Families don't even need to have something special to do while together. If they simply ask each other how their day is and play a simple game together, family bonds will get better.
When technology becomes a focus, quality time for families goes down, which in turn affects everyone's life. Lack of family communication causes the family's unity to weaken, and each of the family will be influenced in different ways. Children are more likely to develop unhealthy habits when they fail to interact with their parents. Meanwhile, parents who put work before family or pay less attention to their children's growth are more likely to face bad parentchild relationship. Sixtyseven percent of American teens say they want to spend more time with their parents, which is rather sad. Therefore, this passage is meant to show how technology has influenced families badly.
( )1.What is the biggest influence that technology has on family time?
A.It brings families get closer easily.
B.It provides more choices to play together.
C.It changes the way families spend time together.
D.It increases the time families spend together.
( )2.Nowadays what do members of the family usually do to relax by the end of a day?
A.Watch movies and television.
B.Listen to radio programs.
C.Spend time on smart phones.
D.Play a board game together.
( )3.According to Paragraph 3, what can we know about technology?
A.It makes us put work before family.
B.It affects the quality of family time.
C.It brings us convenience and happiness.
D.It affects the family time in the same way.
( )4.What's Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.Simple games are helpful for family bonds.
B.Families don't need to do anything together.
C.Personal communication is important for family time.
D.Staying in the same room is necessary for family.
( )5.What's the writer's attitude (态度) towards the technology influence?
A.Agreed.
B.Worried.
C.Surprised.
D.Satisfied.
Passage 3
Yan Ning is one of China's most outstanding young scientists. She has made great achievements in structural biology and won many international awards. She often speaks publicly about the warm family tradition that has greatly shaped her character and research spirit.
When Yan Ning was little, her parents kept a simple but meaningful family custom. Every evening after dinner, the whole family would spend half an hour reading and sharing ideas. There were no strict study tasks or boring exams. Instead of pushing her to take expensive training classes, her parents encouraged her to read widely and share her true thoughts bravely. They told her that staying curious and thinking independently were far more important than just getting high scores.
At first, Yan Ning preferred to run outside and play with neighbourhood kids. Sometimes she tried to avoid this quiet family reading time. Gradually, she found great fun in discussing books and solving small questions with her parents. This longterm tradition broadened her horizons and developed her strong love for thinking and exploring. Later, she became deeply interested in biology and decided to explore the mysterious secrets of life.

Do you want to have a good family life? For most people, the answer might be “Yes”. 1._ Fortunately, here are some stTIF you can take to make your time with your family more enjoyable.

5._ Parents work and kids have afterschool activities, so it's difficult to have breakfast and dinner together every day. But you can try to create as many opportunities as possible to eat together, because family meals are the key to helping you stay involved in your family members' lives.
Passage 5
信息匹配:1—5描述了五个家庭的基本情况,材料A—F提供了六个活动中心及其基本介绍,请为每个家庭选择最合适的活动中心。

D.Rainy Day Indoor Scavenger Hunt: Make a list of items for the kids to find around the house (e.g. “something red”, “a book with a dog on the cover”), and the one who finds all wins a small prize. It works for kids of all ages, and is perfect for rainy days when you can't go out.
E.Full Moon Picnic: Every MidAutumn Festival, pack some mooncakes and fruits, drive to the nearest hill, and have a picnic under the moon. Even a little 4yearold child can join—they just need to sit on a mat and eat snacks while adults chat.
F.Overnight Camping Trip: Every summer, drive to the nearby forest and camp for one night. It's perfect for kids over 10 who love adventure, but may be too hard for kids under 4.
