四、背诵范文
Wang Zhenyi—A Brilliant Ancient Woman Scholar
Wang Zhenyi (1768—1797) was a famous female mathematician and astronomer who lived in the Qing dynasty. From a young age, she showed a strong interest in maths and star studies. Inspired by her grandfather, she was fond of reading all kinds of science books.
Wang Zhenyi was hardworking and confident. At that time, few girls could learn science, but she never gave up studying. Old science books used hard oldfashioned words, yet she kept reading day and night to build her knowledge.
A significant milestone in her life was when she rewrote Mei Wending's calculation book. Through her hard work, she managed to create a simpler method of multiplication and division. She also built a lunar eclipse model to explain natural rules to ordinary people.
The impact of her contributions can still be seen in today's astronomy. In 1994, a crater on Venus was named after her. She is remembered for proving women are no less intelligent than men. I truly admire her courage and wisdom.

In this way, we can stay in a 2 place than where we start, even if we fail. Many great people in the world love fighting for excellence. One of them is the famous biologist—Tong Dizhou, the father of Chinese cloning (克隆).
Tong came from a poor family in Zhejiang Province and didn't go to high school until 17. So he became the oldest student in the class. What was worse, he faced the 3 of being not allowed to continue his study because he couldn't catch up with others. 4, he didn't give up. He studied hard and managed to take the lead among his classmates. 5, he graduated with the highest grade.
Tong is remembered and 6 for the outstanding achievement of crossspecies cloning in fish. In 1963, Tong produced the world's first cloned fish. Ten years later, Tong 7 the first crossspecies cloned fish. In the whole process, challenges and failures didn't prevent him. Thanks to his pioneering research, Chinese scientists developed fishbreeding skills. Now China produces more than half of the world's aquaculture (水产养殖) harvest.
Should we “aim for the moon” or 8 aim for what is easily achieved?Tong gave us a good 9. He shows us that working towards excellence despite failures can be a stepping stone to great success. Nowadays, many young people fear failure. They prefer to take an easier path. They 10 taking on challenges and are easily beaten by stress. Actually, fighting for excellence and not being afraid of failure can help people better themselves.

The professor was excited that he finished his task at last.
这位教授终于完成了他的任务,他非常兴奋。
He was sad that China faced many serious problems at the time.
他为当时中国面临诸多严峻问题而难过。
3.句型改写解题思路:主语+be+形容词+that+事实完整句子
The professor finished his task at last. He was happy.
→The professor was happy that he finished his task at last.
二、特殊结构:主语+be+not sure/not certain+非that引导的从句
not sure/not certain 后不用that,改用wh疑问词引导宾语从句,即表达“不确定、不清楚”时,不能用that从句,要搭配 what/who/where/when/if 等疑问类连接词。如:
I am not sure what I can do to solve this problem. 我不确定我能做什么来解决这个问题。
He is not certain who will come to the meeting. 他不确定谁会来参加这场会议。

二、阅读理解。
So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites (卫星) and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names.
Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang'e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China's first manmade satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang'e I. More interestingly, the moon rover (巡视器) was named after the Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang'e in the story. These old stories carry people's best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true.
Kua Fu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to “visit” the sun, because we have a space project called Kuafu Mission.
Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2,000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China's first quantum (量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground.
From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology.

( )3.How does the writer support his opinion in Paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers.
B. By comparing facts.
C.By giving an example.
D.By reporting a result.

C.Kuafu Mission is designed to travel around the moon.
D.Chang'e I is famous for its partner Jade Rabbit rover.
( )5.What's the writer's main purpose of writing the passage?

Great minds do not always create great inventions. Some devote their lives to saving lives and spreading kindness, and Norman Bethune was such a great person.
Bethune was a skilled Canadian doctor. In 1938, he travelled to China to offer medical help during the war. Back then, many Western people doubted whether a foreign doctor could work well in poor war zones. But Bethune was no less intelligent than top medical experts around the world. He sorted medical plans in a clear way and invented simple medical tools for field treatment.
Since medical conditions were terrible, Bethune set up mobile medical stations near battlefields. He operated on wounded soldiers day and night, even without enough medicine and clean bandages. He often worked for over sixty hours without rest to save more lives.
He refused special treatment for himself and shared food and clothes with local doctors and nurses. Sadly, he died from a wound infection after cutting his finger during an operation. Before his death, he wrote letters to encourage medical workers to keep helping people.
Bethune's greatness lies in selflessness. He left his comfortable homeland for China and gave his life for strangers. His spirit reminds us that true great minds care more about others than themselves, which still moves people all over the world today.

Thinking of somebody you really admire, you will probably find that their success didn't come easily. As the “Father of Hybrid Rice”, Yuan Longping got over great difficulties and spent his whole life working to reduce world hunger and helping to feed the country with the largest population.
Wu Mengchao, the “Father of Chinese Hepatobiliary Surgery (肝胆外科)”, focused on saving people's lives for nearly eighty years. He performed more than 16,000 operations during his life. Holding the surgeon's knife for such a long time deformed his fingers. Wu once said, “It would be my greatest happiness if I could work at the operating table until my dying day.”
In 1969, in order to solve the problem of treating malaria, Tu Youyou, a pharmacologist (药理学家), took on the job as the head of a research team. She and her teammates performed different kinds of experiments. However, the results were disappointing. Instead of giving up, they kept trying. Finally,in 1972, they made it! In 2015, at the age of 85, she received the Nobel Prize.
Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, believed that every failure was a step towards success. He once said, “If I find 10,000 ways that won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong try is another step forward.”
Sometimes, their success was a surprise, even to themselves. The famous scientist Alexander Fleming said, “When I woke up just after daybreak on the 28th of September, 1928, I certainly didn't plan to revolutionize (变革) all medicine by discovering the world's' first antibiotic (抗生素). But I guessed that was exactly what I did.”
Some people only became successful after their deaths. Not like Pablo Picasso who became famous and very rich during his lifetime, the artist Vincent van Gogh only sold one painting all through his life and that was to a friend. But he kept painting and he painted more than 2,000 artworks in the following ten years. Now his paintings are very popular and they sell for millions of pounds.
One thing all these people have in common is sticking to their goals no matter what happens.

B. They spent all their lives serving people.
C.They achieved a lot in the medical field.

D.Got his fingers cut off.
( )3.What can we know from the passage?
A.Pablo Picasso became famous after his death.
B.Vincent van Gogh painted 2,001 artworks in his life.
C.It took Tu Youyou's team about 3 years to reach their goal.
D.Thomas Edison tried 10,000 ways before he invented the light bulb.
( )4.What can we learn about Alexander Fleming when he discovered the first antibiotic?
A.He felt too tired to stay awake.

What do Doraemon and Chinese medical expert Zhong Nanshan have in common?Well, they can both be found on Lang Jiaziyu's desk. Lang is a young master of dough figurines, known as “mianren (面人)” in Chinese.
Lang became interested in dough figurines when he was five. He grew up watching his father create lively figurines. The craft looked so magical that he wanted to try it himself. His first creation took two and a half hours but looked awful. He tried to make a cute doll, but it turned out to be an ugly, middleaged man. Though his first try was not pleasing, he had already fallen in love with the craft.
Lang's family has been making dough figurines for three generations. His grandfather, “Mianren Lang (面人郎)”, turned dough figurines from simple street toys into real works of art and exhibited his works abroad. Lang's father and aunt are also skilled masters. With their hard work, the craft was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. Influenced by his family, Lang practised hard and gradually improved his skills. In 2022, his works won high praise at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Today, many traditional crafts are in danger of disappearing. Few young people know about them. Lang often feels in low spirits because he has no peers to talk with about his craft. As more people choose “modern” jobs, the craft of dough figurines needs new inheritors.
To keep the traditional craft alive, Lang works hard to promote the art of Dough Figurine Lang on social media. He brings pop culture into his creations. Some of his figurines are based on cartoon characters or famous people. He also shares short videos of his craft online. Lang hopes that in this way, more young people will be drawn to the craft and pass it down to future generations.
