Li Xiangyang, born in 1995, is a food delivery rider in Hunan. Unlike other riders, Li has no arms. This makes his job especially challenging.
At the age of four, Li lost both his arms in an accident. He learned to use his feet for daily tasks, although the process was slow. ▲ Even simple actions like holding a spoon took him months to practice. By his early teens, he could feed and dress himself without help.
Besides suffering from the pain in his body, Li faced other difficulties. After his accident, his family had money problems. The family spent most of their money treating his injuries, leaving them rather poor. "I used to feel awful. When I closed my eyes, I was scared of the future. Would I find a job? When would I have my own family?" Such fears drove Li to push himself harder.
Li married in 2016 and is now a father of two. For years, his family lived on money from his street stall, where he writes characters with his feet. But stall income varied with weather and tourist numbers, so saving was difficult. In July this year, he began working as a food delivery rider.
Now Li spends his mornings delivering meals and his evenings working at the street stall, often working until around 11 p.m. "My customers are often surprised to see me deliver meals to their homes. Sometimes, they say something warm to encourage me," Li said. "Their kindness helps me grow from a fearful boy to a confident man. I feel thankful, and I hope to give back to society through my work."
Now he visits schools to give motivational talks and provides help to the disabled. He remembers the people who helped him and joins a charity organization to pass that on.

Shopping: Then and Now
Shopping is something people do almost every day, but the way we shop has changed greatly.
Thirty years ago, most families bought almost everything from local shops or street markets. People usually needed to visit several places to find all the things on their shopping lists. 32 If a shop did not have what they wanted, they often had to wait until the next visit to a larger town.
Today, shopping is much easier in many places. Large supermarkets offer food, clothes, school things, and household products under one roof. 33 This saves people time and gives them more choices.
Online shopping has brought even bigger changes. A customer can search for a product, compare prices, and place an order without leaving home. 34 For people who live far from big shopping centres, this can be especially useful.
However, new ways of shopping also bring new questions. Some people buy things too quickly simply because ordering is easy. Others worry about receiving products that look different from the pictures online. 35 Reading product information carefully is also important.
A. That means they can get nearly everything in one trip.
B. It was not always easy to find everything they needed.
C. It’s easy for them to shop at any time of day or night.
D. So we should think twice before buying online.
E. Shopping helps people save lots of money.

第四部分 综合技能 (共两节,满分25分)
第一节 简答和翻译 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
In the past, when young people left their hometowns to work in big cities, they often forgot the old traditions. Now, a new trend is bringing them back: the “Rural Memory Museum”.
Located in an old courtyard in Xinye Village, this museum doesn’t display expensive antiques. Instead, it collects daily necessities that rural families used 30 or 40 years ago. You can see old-fashioned radios, bamboo baskets, iron kettles, and even the first sewing machine in the village.
Grandpa Li, the 70-year-old curator (馆长), said, “We started this museum because we were afraid these things would disappear. Young people nowadays don’t know how their grandparents lived. We want to show them the hardship and the beauty of the past.”
The museum has become a hit among tourists and local children. During holidays, parents bring their kids here to explain how these tools worked. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present. Moreover, it has encouraged the village to develop “study tour” programs. Students come here to learn about farming culture and try their hand at making traditional crafts.
The biggest surprise is that many young villagers who left for the city have returned. They see the value of their roots and have opened cafes and guesthouses nearby. They are proud of their heritage and are trying to make the village lively again.

Last weekend,I went back to my hometown. Many changes have taken place there. In the past, my hometown was closed to the outside world. Several years ago, the government brought many new things to my hometown.A new road was built, and it took about half a year to build it. About two years later, the railway was built. These things help us communicate with people from other places. However, there are also some bad changes. The river in my hometown used to be clean, but it becomes dirty now. And the air is not as fresh as before. That’s too bad. Changes are necessary, but the changes should be good for the environment.
