In early human history, home was like a small fire and a circle of close people. People sat around the fire, sharing food and stories, and the dancing light of the fire held the earliest sense of safety. Over time, home becomes an important part of how we think and feel about the world. It is more than just a place and it helps us feel safe and connected.
You can feel at home in other places, but it's different from being in your true home. For example, if you travel to another city or country, you might start to feel comfortable there, but you may feel very homesick when you are away for some days. That shows how strong the line between home and not-home can be.
For animals, home is often the natural world that they live in. For example, a bird's true home is its habitat, like the forest. But for us, we can live in almost anywhere—our habitat is more like a mental(精神的) space.
Sometimes, when you go back home after a trip, your house might look like any other house on the street. But that feeling quickly goes away because your home holds a special place in your heart. No place in the world can compare with your own home.
People, memories(回忆), and feelings turn a space into a real home. It is a place full of love and dreams.
23. How does the writer start the text?
A. By comparing facts. B. By showing pictures.
C. By giving numbers. D. By telling stories.
24. What does the underlined word “habitat” probably mean?
A. The place where an animal naturally lives. B. The way an animal communicates.
C. The food an animal needs. D. The group an animal belongs to.
25. Why does your house feel special when you return home after a trip?
A. Because it looks different from other houses. B. Because it has many expensive things inside.
C. Because it holds a special place in your heart. D. Because it is the biggest house on the street.
26. What's the best title for the text?
A. How to Build a Home B. What Is Home?
C. Animals' Homes D. Love and Dreams
D
For children, when they read about cultural monuments(文化古迹)and natural views in textbooks, they often become interested in them and want to visit them. So a new form of tourism appeared. That is “textbook tour”. The textbook tour has been popular since 2023. It allows children to deepen their understanding of the scenes(场景)mentioned in textbooks.
Many families have taken part in the textbook tours. They are encouraged by the stories in the textbooks to choose where to take trips. They can experience different cultures and historical stories. For example, in Fuzhou, parents and children can watch lively shows and visit the Opera Museum to learn more about Tang Xianzu, a great opera writer from the Ming Dynasty.
The textbook tour is a connection between “reading thousands of books” and “travelling thousands of miles”, which can connect knowledge with practice. Through the experience, children can have a deeper understanding of the stories in their textbooks and further increase their sense of identity(身份)and make them proud of the motherland.Besides, parents can also learn about traditional Chinese culture from the tour, and the trip can improve the relationship between parents and children.
The rise of the textbook tour is a great chance for the connection between culture and tourism. For example, the Wenchuan government held some activities in the birthplace of Dayu, where history teachers would introduce "Dayu culture" to tourists. As the textbook tour becomes popular, the local governments should offer good service to achieve a win-win situation for both scenic spots and tourists.
