①From friendship to study stress (压力), more Chinese people are now using AI tools like DeepSeek to talk about their problems. Let’s take a look at the example.
A worried teenager: I’m really hard on myself when I make mistakes. Can you help me?
DeepSeek: I hear you. It’s normal to feel unhappy when you make a mistake. But remember, mistakes are chances to learn and grow. So, try thinking: I’m still learning and it’s OK to make mistakes along the way.
②People nowadays share feelings with the chatbot (聊天程序) and get warm advice. This is called “AI therapy” (AI治疗), which is becoming popular online. But can robots really take the place of human therapists (治疗师)?
③In 2024, 45 percent of people who needed mental (精神的) health care around the world did not get it, according to Huntington Psychological Services. That’s because it was too expensive or there weren’t enough doctors. Daniel Lowd, an expert (专家) on mental health at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the problems. “People can find some support and ideas by talking to the chatbot, and that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.
④However, human therapists can understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create personalized treatment (治疗) plans. It’s hard for robots to fully copy. Another problem is safety. Without right training or rules, AI therapy can’t be as responsible as human therapists and might cause harm to people’s mental health.
⑤Experts believe the key to safe AI therapy is strict government control. I totally agree that without strict government control, AI therapy could be dangerous. As AI becomes part of daily life, finding a balance between its benefits and risks is important. While AI can offer quick help, human connection is still necessary for serious emotional (情感的) needs.
29.Which of the following is an example of AI therapy?
A.Making friends online. B.Getting warm suggestions from AI.
C.Sharing news with online friends. D.Learning English on DeepSeek.
30.What does the underlined phrase “the problems” in Para.3 refer to?
a. The problems with friends. b. The great need for doctors.
c. The stress from work or study. d. The high price of seeing a doctor.
A.ab B.ac C.bd D.cd
31.What is Para.4 mainly about?
A.The history of AI therapy. B.The popularity of AI therapy.
C.The problems of AI therapy. D.The development of AI therapy.
32.What does the writer probably think of AI therapy?
A.It’s much better than human connection. B.It will take the place of human therapists.
C.It cannot offer quick help. D.It’s helpful under strict government control.

During the Spring and Autumn Period (770—476 BC), there was a master of the qin instrument named Yu Boya. He always found his ideas from nature. During a boat trip to the State of Chu, the sight of the river and mountains moved him to play. After a while, he noticed Zhong Ziqi, a woodsman, standing quietly on the bank, enjoying the music. Yu invited Zhong to join him.
First, Yu played music that described (描述) tall mountains. Zhong listened carefully and said, “How wonderful! It makes me see the big and grand Taishan Mountain!” Then Yu played music that described running water. Zhong smiled, “Wonderful too! It makes me see the fast-flowing river!” Yu was very surprised. “You really understand my music!” he said. So the qin player and the woodsman became good friends. They made a promise: they would meet again at the same place the next year.
When the next year came, Yu went to the meeting place. But he got bad news—Zhong had died of an illness. Quite sad, he took out his qin and played the “High Mountains and Flowing Water” music again. “My best friend has passed away,” he said. “No one in the world understands my music any more.” After saying this, he broke his qin into pieces and never played the qin again.
The story shows that real friendship doesn’t lie in who you are or how long you’ve known each other. Instead, it’s about two people sharing the same love.
33.What did Yu Boya do when he saw Zhong Ziqi enjoying his music?
A.He stopped playing the qin at once.
B.He invited Zhong Ziqi to get on his boat.
C.He asked Zhong Ziqi to play the qin.
D.He told Zhong Ziqi about his trip to Chu.
34.What does the underlined word “promise” mean in the second paragraph?
A.An agreement. B.A small gift. C.A short music piece. D.A piece of advice.
35.Why did Yu Boya break his qin?
A.Because his qin was old and broken.
B.Because he didn’t like to play the qin.
C.Because he had lost the one who understood him.
D.Because he wanted to buy a new qin.
36.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Playing the qin is a good way to make new friends.
B.True friendship is based on understanding and love.
C.We should always keep the promises to our friends.
D.Nature is one of the best teachers for some musicians.

The Rise of “Plant-Based Diet” Among Teenagers
In recent years, more and more teenagers around the world have started adopting a plant-based diet. This diet mainly consists of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and excludes or minimizes the consumption of animal products such as meat, dairy and eggs. The trend has been driven by various factors, including health concerns, environmental awareness and animal welfare.
One of the main reasons teenagers choose a plant-based diet is health. Many studies have shown that a well-planned plant-based diet can provide all the necessary nutrients and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. “I started eating plant-based foods because I wanted to stay healthy and have more energy for sports,” said a 16-year-old athlete. “After changing my diet, I feel more energetic and my performance has improved.”
Environmental protection is another important factor. The production of animal products requires a large amount of water, land and energy, and contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. By choosing a plant-based diet, teenagers can reduce their carbon footprint. “I learned that animal agriculture is one of the biggest causes of climate change. Switching to a plant-based diet is my way to protect the planet,” said a 17-year-old student.
However, adopting a plant-based diet also has some challenges. It requires careful planning to ensure adequate intake of nutrients such as protein, iron and vitamin B12, which are mainly found in animal products. Some teenagers may face pressure from family and friends who don’t understand their diet choice. To address these issues, many schools and communities have started offering plant-based meal options and organizing educational activities to promote awareness about plant-based nutrition.
37.What is a plant-based diet?
A.A diet that only includes meat and dairy products.
B.A diet mainly consisting of plant-based foods and excluding or minimizing animal products.
C.A diet that focuses on fast food and processed snacks.
D.A diet that requires eating a lot of sugar and oil.
38.Why do teenagers choose a plant-based diet?
A.To increase the risk of chronic diseases.
B.To contribute to environmental pollution.
C.For health concerns, environmental awareness and animal welfare.
D.To consume more animal products.
39.What challenges may teenagers face when adopting a plant-based diet?
A.Difficulty in getting enough nutrients like protein and iron.
B.Too many plant-based food options to choose from.
C.Pressure from family and friends who support their diet.
D.Easy access to plant-based meals in schools and communities.
40.How do schools and communities support teenagers’ plant-based diet?
A.By banning plant-based meals in cafeterias.
B.By organizing activities to promote awareness about plant-based nutrition.
C.By discouraging students from choosing a plant-based diet.
D.By providing only animal products for meals.

One of China’s most popular mountain tourist attractions has started using an unusual new workforce—a pack of robotic dogs—to carry rubbish down the mountain’s steep (陡峭的) paths.
The four-legged robots can be seen walking up and down the steps of Mount Tai in Eastern China’s Shandong Province, often carrying huge bags of rubbish. Tourists at the site are very interested in them. “Please don’t litter!” one robot can be heard saying in a video on social media. “I work very hard every day and I don’t want to get too tired.”
The robots are being used to solve a growing labour shortage. As one of China’s most famous mountains, Mount Tai attracts large crowds of tourists daily, and they produce a huge amount of rubbish. Keeping Mount Tai clean is a big challenge. For years, the tourist area has depended on porters—known as tiaoshangong in Chinese—to carry bags of waste down the mountain on foot. It is tough work. A traditional tiaoshangong typically spends hours each day walking up and down the mountain, often with loads (负荷) of up to 50 kilograms balanced on a carrying pole (扁担) across their shoulders. But fewer locals are willing to become tiaoshangong now. So, the tourist site has to explore other solutions.
Robotic dogs appear to be the way to go. They can carry loads of up to 120 kilograms and climb for four to six hours on a single charge. They are also able to run up the mountain if needed. In a recent test run, a robotic dog managed to climb the classic, 9.5-kilometre path from the Red Gate to the top of Mount Tai in just two hours, around twice the speed of an average human climber. Each of these robotic dogs has a built-in camera that watches its surroundings, allowing it to move through crowded areas without hitting people.
The shortage of tiaoshangong may make robots the only choice in the future. However, human labour will remain irreplaceable (不可替代的), because robotic dogs cannot fully take the place of human labour in the short term.
