Event: Saturday English Day at Happy City Park
Time: 9:00 a.m.—11:00 a.m.
What to do, what not to do:
Check-in Table
Arrive before 8:50 and find the Welcome Desk under the big orange balloon. Give your name to the helper and get your orange name card. Wear it around your neck—no card, no snacks or juice later!
Ice-breaker Games
Speak only English during games. If you speak Chinese by mistake, you’ll do a funny challenge—like singing the ABC song or turning around three times! Everyone claps, everyone laughs, and learning starts with joy.
Green Clean-up Game
Pick up ten pieces of trash(垃圾) to win points for your team. You have 15 minutes, so walk fast but stay safe. Plastic bags = 1 point; glass bottles = 3 points; paper = 2 points. If you pick a flower or step on the grass, your team will lose 5 points—let the flowers stay and the grass grow!
Awards & Group Photo
After the clean-up, wash your hands. Then stand in line quietly in height order (shortest to tallest). Receive your “Green Helper” paper flower and take part in the group photo!
Pick-up(11:00 a.m.)

①In life, each of us is on a journey to discover who we truly are. It’s a long journey that starts when we’re young and keeps going as we grow.

③Firstly, understanding our likes and dislikes can help us find the right goals. It’s like a map that guides us. For example, when faced with different choices, if we know our own preferences, we will make better choices. And every choice we make brings us one step closer to achieving our goals.
④Secondly, understanding ourselves helps us get along better with others. If we know our own strengths and weaknesses, we can work better as a team. For example, if I know I’m good at listening, I can help my classmates who need to talk about their problems.

In the coastal city of Laguna in Brazil, there is a special fishing team. It is made up of fishermen and dolphins! They work together to catch fish called “mullet”.
Mauricio Cantor from Oregon State University, US, studied this partnership. As he told Science News Explores, it started more than a century ago:
“The dolphins are good at finding fish and driving them to the coast.” Cantor said. “The fishermen are good at catching the fish.” Once the fish are in the nets, dolphins can move in and get some for themselves.
Cantor’s study described how fishermen and dolphins give messages to each other when fishing. When dolphins find fish, they drive the fish to the coast. Then they raise their backs in front of the fishermen to tell them to cast nets. Fishermen will then cast the nets right away, or they may lose the best chance. Fishermen need to be well-trained to understand what the dolphins mean.
The study found that fishermen are 17 times more likely to catch fish by working with dolphins. At the same time, these dolphins have a higher chance of survival than other dolphins.
“Human-animal partnerships weren’t common throughout history. But they give us an idea of how positive our human interactions can be with nature,” Cantor said.

Andrew Holleman, a 12-year-old boy, loved playing in the open land near his home, as it’s a perfect place to get close to nature. He often saw red foxes running in the woods, wood turtles moving slowly by the water, and even rare flowers blooming quietly in the grassland. Andrew enjoyed every peaceful moment there and deeply understood the close connection between all living things.
Suddenly, a new plan broke everything! Many houses would be built in the open land. The plan meant cutting down a large number of trees, removing all plants, and covering the land with hard ground.
Andrew felt sad and worried. He was afraid that destroying the land would make local animals lose their only home, and that some animals might even die without food and cover. So Andrew clearly wrote down all his research on the area and how the plan would harm the local ecosystem. Then he wrote to local officials, contacted reporters, and encouraged his neighbours to join him in opposing(反对) the plan.
Andrew was only 12, but he showed great abilities beyond his years. Every afternoon after school, he visited every house to ask people who were against the plan to sign their names. In just one month, he got support from many people.
In the end, the open land remained a safe home for local living things. Andrew felt proud to make a big difference to protecting the environment.
