When I was 10,I was caught in a lie.I stubbornly denied breaking a window in my neighbor's bamn, but
my parents knew I had done it.In those days,a broken window was a big deal, and I was close to miserable
Then Uncle Jim arrived. He never raised his voice or rushed.Riding beside him in his old green car,I kept
glancing at him nervously.I could see a confused smile at the corner of his mouth."Telling the truth is always
easier,"he said out of the blue.He grinned at me."So it's perfect for a lazybones like you and me."That was it
一no lecturing,.no scolding. My uncle began to hum(哼歌),and I was awash in relief..
Not long after,I spotted a pair of brown leather gloves on the windowsill in the post office.Old Mrs
Jameson had come in wearing them and left barehanded.I tried them on.They were perfect. That night,my
conscience troubled me.The truth is easier for a lazybones. The next day,I returned the gloves.A month later,
Mrs Jameson sent me a new pair with a note of thanks. When Uncle Jim asked where I got them,I told him the
stoy.“See?”he said,delighted.
Uncle Jim taught me far more than that. One August day,we were fishing in a small boat.I was a bit down
at our slow pace.He said speed was fine if you wanted to go fast, but slowing down made any journey less of a
blur."It helps you focus,"he said.I thought of that decades later when he was dying,in his 82nd year. Was he
seeing more, even as he slowed?Uncle Jim was an observer who touched those he loved by sharing what he saw.
Some things I understood quickly, but others took decades to become clear.
Be honest,be brave, look around and slow down-the words were never spoken, but the message always
got through.
24.How did Uncle Jim react to the author's lie?
A.He let the lie slide.

Most people rely on digital reminders daily.Smartphones, smartwatches and calendar alerts help us
remember appointments and deadlines, cutting the mental work of tracking future plans.Psychologists call this
strategy cognitive (offloading-shifting part of the brain's workload to outside aids.Previous research
has shown that reminders boost short-term performance, but much less is known about whether they influence
our ability to remember independently.
In order to investigate whether reminders simply provide temporary assistance or whether they also change
the learning processes that normally strengthen prospective memory-the ability to remember to carry out
intended actions later, the research team, led by Craig Fellers from the University of California,Santa Cruz,
conducted two online experiments.
In the first experiment, participants completed an ongoing word task while remembering two prospective
memory tasks. In one condition, participants remembered both tasks using their own memory. In the offloading
condition, one of the memory tasks was supported by a highly noticeable reminder displayed in bold text, while
the other had to be remembered internally. After the first stage, all participants redid the task with no reminders.
A second experiment was carried out to confirm the results.
As expected, reminders greatly improved performance while available.Participants almost never forgot the
task supported by the reminder. However, the researchers found no evidence that removing one memory burden
allowed participants to perform better on the other memory task they still had to remember by themselves. In fact,
in the second experiment, when the reminders were made even more explicit, performance on the non-offloaded
memory task actually worsened.
While reminders can be a powerful tool for ensuring immediate task completion, they are not cognitively
neutral. They can gradually weaken the essential practice that helps us form lasting memory skills we rely on
ourselves to use.
The researchers caution that the study was conducted online using university students,so the results may
not fully reflect how people use reminder apps in everyday life. They also examined relatively short-term
memory performance, leaving open the question of whether long-term reliance on digital reminders produces
similar effects.
28.What remains a puzzle about reminders according to paragraph 1?
A.Their burden on smart devices.
B.Their role in cutting mental stress.
C.Their application in daily appointments.D.Their influence on independent memory.
29.What does the underlined word "explicit"in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Reasonable.B.Comparable
C.Obvious.
D.Restricted.
30.What message do the experiments mainly convey?
A.External aids guarantee reliable memory.
B.Memory burdens can almost be removed.
C.Reminders may harm inner-memory skills.
D.More reminders ensure better task outputs.
31.Why are the study's limitations mentioned in the last paragraph?
A.To prove short-term tests'unreliability.
B.To show its incomplete research evidence.
C.To criticize online student-based research.
D.To stress its narrow real-world application.
D
Sir David Attenborough,a television presenter, said,"The plastic in our oceans ought never to have got
there in the first place.Much of it perhaps ought not to have even been manufactured at all."The first statement
is reasonable, but the second is not.
Although the drawbacks of the world's reliance on plastics are all too apparent, the benefits they provide
are all too easily overlooked.Take food as an example.Plastic packaging prevents foodstuffs from spoiling,
making possible global trade in meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. It enables essentials like rice, cooking oil and
powdered milk to be stored and distributed safely and cheaply.A one-litre plastic bottle weighs 5%as much as a
glass one;plastic packaging thus reduces shipping costs and emissions.
To deal with the threat of pollution, the best approach is not to ban plastics, but to manage them more
carefully.Better recycling technologies, now under development, are one part of the answer. The proportion of
plastics which end up being recycled has doubled in the past two decades, but it is still only 9%.This is not
because people do not care about the planet. It is because recycling is harder and more costly than most people
realize
One result is that many rich countries export their waste for"recycling"in poorer countries which are not
equipped to deal with their own often voluminous plastic-waste problems, let alone anyone else's.
Greater use should therefore be made of landfill. When properly managed and well monitored, this is far
less environmentally ruinous than often portrayed.Incinerators (are a useful option too, though they are
also unpopular. The good news is that Fortnum,a Finnish company, has found a way to turn the hydrocarbons
released from waste incineration back into plastic feedstock.Such innovation should be built on.When it comes
to plastics, the benefits are very much greater than most people will allow-and so is the potential for managing
the costs.
32.What is the author's attitude towards Attenborough's view?
A.Totally ignorant.
B.Fully supportive.
C.Strongly opposed.
D.Partially approving
33.Why does the author mention the weight of a plastic bottle in paragraph 2?
A.To show bottles are easy to carry.
B.To compare plastics'durability with glass.
C.To highlight the cost-effectiveness of plastics.D.To prove the essential role of plastics in global trade
34.What mainly accounts for the low recycling rates?
A.Public indifference.
B.Technical difficulties.
C.Insufficient global cooperation.
D.Inadequate government funding.
35.What does the author imply in the last sentence of the passage?
A.Our ability to handle its downsides is underestimated.
B.The drawbacks of plastics far outweigh their advantages.
C.People see huge potential to remove plastic pollution costs.
D.High waste management costs prevent enjoying plastic benefits.

The integration of aI into education is rapidly shifting from theoretical discussion to practical application.
Once viewed with doubt,AI is now emerging as a powerful ally (in the classroom, particularly in the field
of academic writing. As students face complex research and communication demands, and teachers deal with
growing class sizes and grading loads,AI writing tools offer innovative solutions that support both sides of the
educational process.36
These tools are transforming the learning landscape, providing personalized feedback, and facilitating
efficient content generation.37A good AI writing tool can also help learners become more confident,
clear-thinking and critical communicators.Meanwhile,it allows teachers to focus more on high-level teaching
and individual guidance.
38 The large volume of writing assignments to grade can be stressful, often leading to burnout
and a struggle to provide timely feedback.AI writing tools are stepping in to ease this burden. They can perform
grammar checks, detect academic dishonesty, and offer revision suggestions.By handling these basic tasks,AI
frees up teachers to focus on guiding complex thinking and addressing individual learning needs
For students,AI writing tools act as personalized learning partners that adapt to individual needs.39
They struggle with organizing ideas and expressing themselves clearly in writing.AI can generate starter ideas,
provide instant grammar feedback, and help create logical outlines, building confidence and independence.
However, the power of AI in education also brings notable risks.Over-reliance may weaken students'
thinking skills, and unequal access to advanced tools could widen the learning gap between students.40
With clear guidelines and proper training,AI can become a powerful force for developing deeper thinking and
more meaningful learning experiences.
A.For many learners, writing can be a real challenge.
B.Yet they can do far more than perform these practical tasks.
C.Thus, balancing AI support with human oversight is critical.
D.They aim to assist, not replace, the work of teachers and students.
E.This technology helps reduce the heavy marking load on teachers
F.However, teachers need proper training to use these tools effectively.
G.It also encourages teachers to rethink how they design their assignments

I made a wrong decision out of my strong desire for attention. As humans, our longing for recognition can
sometimes take us down the wrong path, driving us to make choices we later regret. This is a lesson I have
learned all too well.
When I was 15,I did well academically but still longed to be popular among my peers.Despite my good

grades,I often felt overlooked and unnoticed. The desire to stand out consumed me,eventually pushing me
towards a serious mistake.
One gray Tuesday morning,I visited the IT lab with my classmates. Our teacher,Mr.Chen, frowned and
announced that several computer parts had gone missing.Curious glances exchanged, everyone wondered aloud
how it could happen in a locked lab.
"It is possible to open that lock with a different key-like a paperclip,"I said boldly,my voice cutting
through the murmurs, hoping to impress my friends and seize their attention.
At once, all eyes turned toward me with new curiosity.I felt an exciting rush I had never known before-
the spotlight I had always desired.Eager to keep them hooked,I pulled a bent paperclip from my pocket, slid it
into the keyhole, and twisted gently. My fingers trembled as the lock clicked open with a sharp snap, and I
looked up,seeing wide eyes and open mouths around me.A few classmates even clapped in admiration.I
grinned,enjoying my temporary glory.
I had no idea that this foolish moment would land me in huge trouble.

When I was 10, I was caught in a lie. I stubbornly denied breaking a window in my neighbor’s barn, but my parents knew I had done it. In those days, a broken window was a big deal, and I was close to miserable.
Then Uncle Jim arrived. He never raised his voice or rushed. Riding beside him in his old green car, I kept glancing at him nervously. I could see a confused smile at the corner of his mouth. “Telling the truth is always easier,” he said out of the blue. He grinned at me. “So it’s perfect for a lazybones like you and me.” That was it — no lecturing, no scolding. My uncle began to hum (哼歌), and I was awash in relief.
Not long after, I spotted a pair of brown leather gloves on the windowsill in the post office. Old Mrs Jameson had come in wearing them and left barehanded. I tried them on. They were perfect. That night, my conscience troubled me. The truth is easier for a lazybones. The next day, I returned the gloves. A month later, Mrs Jameson sent me a new pair with a note of thanks. When Uncle Jim asked where I got them, I told him the story. “See?” he said, delighted.
Uncle Jim taught me far more than that. One August day, we were fishing in a small boat. I was a bit down at our slow pace. He said speed was fine if you wanted to go fast, but slowing down made any journey less of a blur. “It helps you focus,” he said. I thought of that decades later when he was dying, in his 82nd year. Was he seeing more, even as he slowed? Uncle Jim was an observer who touched those he loved by sharing what he saw. Some things I understood quickly, but others took decades to become clear.
Be honest, be brave, look around and slow down — the words were never spoken, but the message always got through.
24.How did Uncle Jim react to the author’s lie?
A.He let the lie slide. B.He offered mild guidance.
C.He delivered a long lecture. D.He gave a severe punishment.
25.Why did Mrs Jameson send the author a new pair of gloves?
A.She knew he was fond of gloves. B.She had extra gloves to give away.
C.Her old gloves no longer fitted her. D.She intended to reward his honesty.
26.What does the underlined phrase “less of a blur” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Less boring. B.Less risky.
C.More exciting. D.More apparent.
27.What is the main message of the passage?
A.Truth does not need to be spoken. B.The elder always give wise advice.
C.Honesty and patience matter in life. D.Mistakes are unavoidable for children.

Most people rely on digital reminders daily. Smartphones, smartwatches and calendar alerts help us remember appointments and deadlines, cutting the mental work of tracking future plans. Psychologists call this strategy cognitive (认知的) offloading — shifting part of the brain’s workload to outside aids. Previous research has shown that reminders boost short-term performance, but much less is known about whether they influence our ability to remember independently.
In order to investigate whether reminders simply provide temporary assistance or whether they also change the learning processes that normally strengthen prospective memory — the ability to remember to carry out intended actions later, the research team, led by Craig Fellers from the University of California, Santa Cruz, conducted two online experiments.
In the first experiment, participants completed an ongoing word task while remembering two prospective memory tasks. In one condition, participants remembered both tasks using their own memory. In the offloading condition, one of the memory tasks was supported by a highly noticeable reminder displayed in bold text, while the other had to be remembered internally. After the first stage, all participants redid the task with no reminders. A second experiment was carried out to confirm the results.
As expected, reminders greatly improved performance while available. Participants almost never forgot the task supported by the reminder. However, the researchers found no evidence that removing one memory burden allowed participants to perform better on the other memory task they still had to remember by themselves. In fact, in the second experiment, when the reminders were made even more explicit, performance on the non-offloaded memory task actually worsened.
While reminders can be a powerful tool for ensuring immediate task completion, they are not cognitively neutral. They can gradually weaken the essential practice that helps us form lasting memory skills we rely on ourselves to use.
The researchers caution that the study was conducted online using university students, so the results may not fully reflect how people use reminder apps in everyday life. They also examined relatively short-term memory performance, leaving open the question of whether long-term reliance on digital reminders produces similar effects.
28.What remains a puzzle about reminders according to paragraph 1?
A.Their burden on smart devices. B.Their role in cutting mental stress.
C.Their application in daily appointments. D.Their influence on independent memory.
29.What does the underlined word “explicit” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Reasonable. B.Comparable. C.Obvious. D.Restricted.
30.What message do the experiments mainly convey?
A.External aids guarantee reliable memory.
B.Memory burdens can almost be removed.
C.Reminders may harm inner-memory skills.
D.More reminders ensure better task outputs.
31.Why are the study’s limitations mentioned in the last paragraph?
A.To prove short-term tests’ unreliability.
B.To show its incomplete research evidence.
C.To criticize online student-based research.
D.To stress its narrow real-world application.
D
Sir David Attenborough, a television presenter, said, “The plastic in our oceans ought never to have got there in the first place. Much of it perhaps ought not to have even been manufactured at all.” The first statement is reasonable, but the second is not.
Although the drawbacks of the world’s reliance on plastics are all too apparent, the benefits they provide are all too easily overlooked. Take food as an example. Plastic packaging prevents foodstuffs from spoiling, making possible global trade in meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. It enables essentials like rice, cooking oil and powdered milk to be stored and distributed safely and cheaply. A one-litre plastic bottle weighs 5% as much as a glass one; plastic packaging thus reduces shipping costs and emissions.
To deal with the threat of pollution, the best approach is not to ban plastics, but to manage them more carefully. Better recycling technologies, now under development, are one part of the answer. The proportion of plastics which end up being recycled has doubled in the past two decades, but it is still only 9%. This is not because people do not care about the planet. It is because recycling is harder and more costly than most people realize.
One result is that many rich countries export their waste for “recycling” in poorer countries which are not equipped to deal with their own often voluminous plastic-waste problems, let alone anyone else’s.
Greater use should therefore be made of landfill. When properly managed and well monitored, this is far less environmentally ruinous than often portrayed. Incinerators (焚烧炉) are a useful option too, though they are also unpopular. The good news is that Fortnum, a Finnish company, has found a way to turn the hydrocarbons released from waste incineration back into plastic feedstock. Such innovation should be built on. When it comes to plastics, the benefits are very much greater than most people will allow—and so is the potential for managing the costs.
32.What is the author’s attitude towards Attenborough’s view?
A.Totally ignorant. B.Fully supportive.
C.Strongly opposed. D.Partially approving.
33.Why does the author mention the weight of a plastic bottle in paragraph 2?
A.To show bottles are easy to carry. B.To compare plastics’ durability with glass.
C.To highlight the cost-effectiveness of plastics. D.To prove the essential role of plastics in global trade.

Once viewed with doubt, AI is now emerging as a powerful ally (助手) in the classroom, particularly in the field of academic writing. As students face complex research and communication demands, and teachers deal with growing class sizes and grading loads, AI writing tools offer innovative solutions that support both sides of the educational process. 36
These tools are transforming the learning landscape, providing personalized feedback, and facilitating efficient content generation. 37 A good AI writing tool can also help learners become more confident, clear-thinking and critical communicators. Meanwhile, it allows teachers to focus more on high-level teaching and individual guidance.
38 The large volume of writing assignments to grade can be stressful, often leading to burnout and a struggle to provide timely feedback. AI writing tools are stepping in to ease this burden. They can perform grammar checks, detect academic dishonesty, and offer revision suggestions. By handling these basic tasks, AI frees up teachers to focus on guiding complex thinking and addressing individual learning needs.
For students, AI writing tools act as personalized learning partners that adapt to individual needs. 39 They struggle with organizing ideas and expressing themselves clearly in writing. AI can generate starter ideas, provide instant grammar feedback, and help create logical outlines, building confidence and independence.
However, the power of AI in education also brings notable risks. Over-reliance may weaken students’ thinking skills, and unequal access to advanced tools could widen the learning gap between students. 40 With clear guidelines and proper training, AI can become a powerful force for developing deeper thinking and more meaningful learning experiences.
A.For many learners, writing can be a real challenge.
B.Yet they can do far more than perform these practical tasks.
C.Thus, balancing AI support with human oversight is critical.
D.They aim to assist, not replace, the work of teachers and students.
E.This technology helps reduce the heavy marking load on teachers.
F.However, teachers need proper training to use these tools effectively.
G.It also encourages teachers to rethink how they design their assignments.

Yesterday, my kids and I were in the costume store, getting ready for Halloween, and they saw a Donald Trump mask. “Is he a good guy or a bad guy?” they asked.
I knew they were thinking of the most negative character — Will Ferrell in the film Batman, who starts good but becomes bad over the course of the plot, so I said something about how all people have a little good and a little bad in them. Of course, I wanted to say: “Son, that man is not 41 a bad guy, but one of the worst men our species has ever 42 . He had every privilege, every opportunity to do good, but he chose 43 .”
We have the opportunity to make this 44 , every day.

I made a wrong decision out of my strong desire for attention. As humans, our longing for recognition can sometimes take us down the wrong path, driving us to make choices we later regret. This is a lesson I have learned all too well.
When I was 15, I did well academically but still longed to be popular among my peers. Despite my good grades, I often felt overlooked and unnoticed. The desire to stand out consumed me, eventually pushing me towards a serious mistake.
One gray Tuesday morning, I visited the IT lab with my classmates. Our teacher, Mr. Chen, frowned and announced that several computer parts had gone missing. Curious glances exchanged, everyone wondered aloud how it could happen in a locked lab.
“It is possible to open that lock with a different key — like a paperclip,” I said boldly, my voice cutting through the murmurs, hoping to impress my friends and seize their attention.
At once, all eyes turned toward me with new curiosity. I felt an exciting rush I had never known before — the spotlight I had always desired. Eager to keep them hooked, I pulled a bent paperclip from my pocket, slid it into the keyhole, and twisted gently. My fingers trembled as the lock clicked open with a sharp snap, and I looked up, seeing wide eyes and open mouths around me. A few classmates even clapped in admiration. I grinned, enjoying my temporary glory.
I had no idea that this foolish moment would land me in huge trouble.

Text 10
M: ⑲A new study found something interesting. People find it hard to understand how dogs feel. Researchers at a university made videos of a dog. The dog was in different situations. Some situations were good. For example, someone gave the dog food. Some situations were bad. For example, the dog saw a scary vacuum cleaner. Then the researchers changed some videos. ⑰They put different backgrounds in the videos. For example, one video showed a happy dog. But the background showed a vacuum cleaner, not food. Researchers showed people these videos. They asked, “How happy was the dog?” People saw the same dog doing the same thing. But they had different ideas about how the dog felt. ⑱If the background looked happy, people thought the dog was happy. If the background looked scary, people thought the dog was scared. This happened even when the dog’s body language showed different feelings. A researcher named Holly said,“People don’t just look at the dog’s behavior. They are also influenced by what’s around the dog. ⑳If you want to understand your dog better, watch how it moves its body.”

根据第二段中“‘Telling the truth is always easier,’ he said out of the blue. He grinned at me. ‘So it’s perfect for a lazybones like you and me.’ That was it — no lecturing, no scolding. My uncle began to hum, and I was awash in relief. (‘说实话往往更容易。’他突然开口,冲我咧嘴一笑:‘所以这很适合咱们这种懒人。’仅此而已——没有说教,没有责骂。叔叔轻轻哼起歌,我如释重负。)”可知,吉姆叔叔没有训斥、长篇说教,只是轻松告诉作者讲真话更简单,属于温和引导。
25.推理判断题。根据第三段中“Not long after, I spotted a pair of brown leather gloves on the windowsill in the post office.
根据第四段中“He said speed was fine if you wanted to go fast, but slowing down made any journey less of a blur. ‘It helps you focus,’ he said. I thought of that decades later when he was dying, in his 82nd year. Was he seeing more, even as he slowed? (他说,想追求速度无可厚非,但放慢脚步,旅途就less of a blur。‘这能帮你专注。’他说。几十年后,82岁的他弥留之际,我想起这句话。当生命脚步放缓时,他是否看见了更多东西?)”可知,吉姆叔叔教导作者慢下来能帮人集中注意力、看到更多内容,说明放慢节奏后旅途的细节不再模糊,会更清晰可见,由此可推知less of a blur意为“不再模糊、更清晰可见”。
27.主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Be honest, be brave, look around and slow down — the words were never spoken, but the message always got through. (诚实、勇敢、多留意周遭、慢下来——这些话他从未直白说出,但这份教诲,我一直都收到了。)”并结合全文可知,吉姆叔叔以温和的方式引导作者要诚实做人、学会慢下来用心观察,让他领悟到了诚实与耐心的人生道理,对应选项C“生活中诚实和耐心十分重要”。

29.词句猜测题。根据第三段“In the offloading condition, one of the memory tasks was supported by a highly noticeable reminder displayed in bold text, while the other had to be remembered internally. (在认知卸载实验组,其中一项记忆任务依靠加粗文本展示的十分显眼的提示来辅助记忆,另一项任务必须靠大脑内部记忆)”及第四段“In fact, in the second experiment, when the reminders were made even more explicit, performance on the non-offloaded memory task actually worsened. (事实上,在第二个实验中,当提醒被设置得更加____时,没有借助提醒的记忆任务表现变差了)”可知,前文提到第一个实验里的reminder是a highly noticeable reminder (十分显眼的提示),本句even more体现递进,说明提示变得更加明显,因此explicit与Obvious (明显的)意义相近。
30.细节理解题。根据第五段“While reminders can be a powerful tool for ensuring immediate task completion, they are not cognitively neutral. They can gradually weaken the essential practice that helps us form lasting memory skills we rely on ourselves to use. (虽然提醒功能是确保立刻完成任务的有力工具,但它在认知层面并非毫无影响。它们会慢慢削弱帮助我们形成依靠自身使用的持久记忆能力的必要训练)”可知,实验主要传递的信息是提醒功能可能会损害内在记忆能力。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段“The researchers caution that the study was conducted online using university students, so the results may not fully reflect how people use reminder apps in everyday life. They also examined relatively short-term memory performance, leaving open the question of whether long-term reliance on digital reminders produces similar effects. (研究人员提醒,这项研究以大学生为对象在线开展,所以结果可能无法完全反映人们日常生活中使用提醒软件的情况。研究只检测了相对短期的记忆表现,长期依赖数字提醒是否会产生同类影响尚无定论)”可知,作者提到研究有两处局限,意在说明现有研究证据并不完整,仍存在尚未解决的问题。

33.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“A one‑litre plastic bottle weighs 5% as much as a glass one; plastic packaging thus reduces shipping costs and emissions.(一升塑料瓶重量仅为玻璃瓶的5%;因此塑料包装降低运输成本与排放。)”
根据第三段中的“This is not because people do not care about the planet. It is because recycling is harder and more costly than most people realize.(这并非人们不关心地球,而是回收比大多数人想象得更困难、成本更高。)”
根据最后一段中的“When it comes to plastics, the benefits are very much greater than most people will allow — and so is the potential for managing the costs.(说到塑料,其益处远比大多数人愿意承认的要大——管控其代价的潜力也是如此。)”

40.上文“However, the power of AI in education also brings notable risks. Over-reliance may weaken students’ thinking skills, and unequal access to advanced tools could widen the learning gap between students. (然而,AI在教育中的应用也存在明显隐患,过度依赖会弱化学生的思维能力,工具使用的不均衡还会拉大学生间的学习差距。)”指出了AI教育应用的两大风险。后文“With clear guidelines and proper training, AI can become a powerful force for developing deeper thinking and more meaningful learning experiences. (依托清晰的规范和合理的引导,AI能够助力深度思考与高质量学习。)”给出合理运用AI的方向。选项C“Thus, balancing AI support with human oversight is critical. (因此,平衡AI辅助与人工监管至关重要。)”承接上文的弊端,总结本段内容,提出核心解决办法。

66.Dear Tom,
I’m sorry to hear that you are hesitating about your university choice. As far as I’m concerned, academic interest ranks first, then location, and university ranking comes last.
Interest is the best teacher. If you choose a major you love, you will stay motivated and make steady progress. Besides, location plays an important role, as it affects your living environment and future internship chances. However, university ranking is less important. What really matters is your own ability rather than the fame of the school.
Hope my advice will be of some help to you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

The next day, I was called to the principal’s office. My silly lock-opening show in the IT lab had quickly reached the teachers’ ears. Since I was the only student who knew how to unlock the lab door with a paperclip, I was regarded as the main suspect for the lost computer parts. Standing nervously in the office, I faced the principal’s serious look and tight questioning. Fear seized me completely, making me stutter and unable to explain myself clearly. My awkward response seemed like a guilty confession. The principal decided to contact my parents at once, filling me with deep regret and shame.
Before meeting the principal, my dad gently asked me what had happened. There was no anger in his voice, only patience and trust. I bowed my head, told him the whole truth honestly, and admitted I just wanted to attract classmates’ attention with my stupid behavior. After listening carefully, my dad comforted me and explained the situation to the principal patiently. The misunderstanding was finally cleared up. I learned a precious lesson: true recognition comes from sincerity and good qualities, not vain showing off.
