At these popular beaches, you’ll feel as if you're in paradise. Here are four of the best beaches there. Tanjong Beach The white-sandy beach is man-made and it’s the perfect place to relax in the sun, read a book away from the crowds, or go for a swim in the ocean. Especially, the Tanjong Beach Club is a top nightlife spot for drinking cocktails (鸡尾酒) and enjoying water sports like surfing. Pulau Hantu This island has a quiet beach far from busy tourist spots. The island consists of two small islands that join at low tide. There’s soft white sand and clear blue-green water here, teeming with colorful corals and marine life. People often camp overnight on the island, as it is only accessible by boat. St. John's Island Beach You can enjoy a quiet beach on St. John’s Island. This pretty place has a beach that’s great for sunbathing, swimming in clear water, and having picnics away from the city. Visitors can also spot unique marine life, go fishing, and even rent cabins or bungalows to stay on the island. Make sure to bring everything you need — there are no shops on the island. Coney Island Coney Island beach is the perfect place to relax away from the crowds. This hidden destination offers a couple of sandy spots to relax — whether you’re walking or cycling around Coney Island. It is definitely one of the best beaches to visit alone for a therapeutic (治愈的) experience. Enjoyed this? Click here: The Best Island Getaways In and Around Singapore. 1. Which place is hard to return from in one day? A. St. John’s Island. B. Tanjong Beach. C. Coney Island. D. Pulau Hantu. 2. What does the four beaches have in common? A. They are famous for the nightlife. B. They provide a quiet atmosphere. C. They have fishing nets for rent. D. They are popular with cyclists. 3. Where is the text probably taken from? A. A magazine. B. A textbook. C. A website. D. A report. B Yesterday, my 6-year-old son taught me a valuable lesson that stayed with me for hours. It might sound surprising, but he taught me a powerful lesson. A few weeks ago, I had to travel for work, and I couldn’t spend much time with my son. Even though he is a bit stubborn (固执的), he’s growing up fast. That’s when the lesson happened. While I was eating dinner, he was in the bath, and suddenly he started crying. I asked him what happened, and he said, “Shampoo (洗发水) got in my eyes.” I got really worried and rushed into the bathroom. I tried to help by splashing (泼) water on his eyes, but things got worse when he rubbed his eyes with his soapy hands. I was nervous, telling him not to use his hands. Out of the blue, he said, “Calm down! Dad.” It amazed me. I realized I was making things worse. I stopped splashing water, washed his hands, and calmly told him to use his hands to clean his eyes while blinking (眨眼). It worked, and he felt better. I’m not sure where he learned to stay calm, maybe from me or somewhere else. But the bigger lesson is that when we face problems, acting emotionally and quickly might not be best. Staying calm and thinking about the right solution is better. In today’s tough job market with many people losing their jobs, it’s easy to feel worried. My son’s lesson reminded me that staying calm and taking a moment to relax can help us face challenges with a clear mind, more energy, and better solutions. 4. What happened to the author’s son yesterday? A. He argued with his dad. B. He fell in the bathroom. C. He got angry due to the meal. D. He felt something in his eyes. 5. Why did the author worsen the situation at first? A. He missed an important step. B. He told his son to keep quiet. C. His hands were covered with soap. D. His son disagreed with his advice. 6. How can we solve problems according to the author? A. By putting forward many ideas. B. By getting our thoughts straight. C. By turning to friends for assistance. D. By finding out causes behind them. 7. What does the author’s experience show? A. Knowledge is power. B. Still waters run deep. C. Parenting is learning. D. Actions speak louder. C Many people think that because freezing (冰冻) and then unfreezing food will break down vitamins (维生素), frozen vegetables and fruits must be less nutritious than fresh ones. When fruits and vegetables are picked from plants, they still do things like “breathing”, and over time, their vitamins start to break down. That’s just how nature works. Before fruits and vegetables get to supermarkets or local markets, they have to be carried, stored, and then finally brought to people’s homes. This whole trip often takes a long time, and during this period, their vitamins slowly disappear. But for frozen fruits and vegetables, right after they’re picked, they will be quickly frozen at -8℃.At this temperature, the “breathing” almost stops, and tiny living things can’t grow. Freezing helps keep vitamins in fruits and vegetables safe — it doesn’t hurt them, and it might even help. Experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture looked at common things in fruits and vegetables, such as vitamin C, B vitamins, polyphenols, and carotenoids. They checked products sold in markets and found that while frozen and fresh vegetables might have small differences in some things, overall, they’re not that different. In fact, sometimes frozen fruits and vegetables keep more of these vitamins than fresh ones do. Scientists from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK studied 37 kinds of food and found that both frozen green beans and fresh green beans have high levels of beta carotene after being cooked. For these reasons, international health groups say that both frozen fruits and vegetables and fresh ones are acceptable. The old idea that “frozen fruits and vegetables are low quality” is no longer true. 8. What does the underlined word “nutritious” in the first paragraph mean? A. Popular. B. Healthy. C. Beautiful. D. Delicious. 9. What do we know about picked fruits and vegetables? A. They begin to protect peels. B. They stop breathing quickly. C. Temperatures affect their vitamins. D. Sellers care about their appearance. 10. What do experts and scientists find about frozen produce? A. They lose vitamins once cooked. B. They are more helpful to humans. C. They have more types of vitamins. D. They are delicious for a short time. 11. What is the suitable title for the text? A. Frozen vs. Fresh: Similar Quality? B. Frozen Food: Less Safe Than Fresh? C. Storing Vegetables: Tips for Freezing. D. Markets: Selling More Frozen Foods. D If the term “renewable energy” brings to mind a sea of solar panels (太阳能电池板), you’re not alone. It’s becoming more and more common to collect energy from the sun and wind. But solar and wind power have one big problem: the sun only shines during the day; wind comes and goes; there are very few places where wind is constant enough to produce electricity. Ocean waves, however, crash onto shore morning, noon and night, making them ideal for producing energy around the clock. Now scientists are figuring out just how much energy waves could offer. The first step to creating wave power is finding out the best place to position those energy converters (转换器). To work this out, scientists Joao Morim Nascimento and Nick Cartwright from Griffith University used a computer model named SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore). SWAN predicts the intensity and distribution of ocean-wave energy. To achieve this, it takes into account factors such as wind conditions, seafloor features and interactions between different waves. The model helped the team find “hotspots”, places with what Cartwright describes as an “abundance (大量) of wave energy.” “There’s more than enough natural energy there in the ocean,” he says. “The challenge is to collect and convert enough of it into usable electricity.” Waves constantly strike the converters. The hardware may also experience some extreme weather. Huge storm waves can damage the converters, Cartwright says. He also adds that seawater gradually breaks down metal components (部件). There’s no question that finding new sources of renewable energy is good for the environment. Less pollution and fewer greenhouse gases are good for people, plants and animals. “From the vast resources of the ocean, wave energy has the potential to make a huge contribution towards our clean energy needs of the future,” Nascimento says. But he adds, “It needs to be done in a sustainable way, in harmony with the environment.” 12. What is the main advantage of ocean wave energy? A. It takes up no land space. B. It requires very few places. C. It can be produced nonstop. D. It costs less than solar power. 13. What do we know about SWAN? A. It analyzes more than ocean waves. B. It increases wave energy. C. It uses an AI model for predictions. D. It works with ocean converters. 14. What is the biggest difficulty in developing wave energy? A. Finding the best spots for converters. B. Keeping converters from being damaged. C. Measuring the amount of wave energy. D. Reducing the cost of making converters. 15. What is Nascimento’s attitude toward exploring new energies? A. Worried about its future. B. Fully excited about it. C. Mostly uninterested in it. D. Careful but positive about it. Whether you’re heading out for a day trip or a quick weekend getaway (短期休假), we will share some travel tips in this guide to help you make your experience more enjoyable. ·Think about how you want to travel. ___16___ Sometimes it means the most enjoyable. Too much consideration on short journeys is not worth it. If you’ve got a preference for a certain means of transport, it’s often worth traveling that way for short distances, even if it ends up taking you a little longer. ·___17___ Some cities, like NYC, are quite walkable. Others simply aren’t. In Amsterdam, the best way to get about is by bike — whether you use the city’s shared bikes or rent one from your hotel. In Southeast Asia, you’d better rent a scooter ___18___ So don’t bother to find the so-called one-size-fits-all answer. ·Try all the available options. If you’ re not sure about the best means of transport for you, experience them all. See what catching the subway is like, try cycling or riding the bus. It’s hard to predict what will be the most convenient. LA has a low- cost public transport network but car-pooling is cheaper, and scooters are the best for getting around West Hollywood. ___19___ ·Don’t rely on map apps. Map apps are useful, but they don’t take into account the possibility of packed subways, queues for taxis and the heat of a train in summer. ___20___ So don’t assume something is a 30-minute drive just because a map app says so — by the time you’ve driven halfway, you might still have another 30 minutes to go. A. Don’t limit your choices. B. It takes time to find the best. C. Study the city you will travel to. D. You won’t know until you try them all. E. What works here might not work there. F. She always cared about the latest clothes, expensive phones, and designer bags. Whenever someone showed off a new item, she would feel jealous (嫉妒的) and want to buy something better. Her parents often told her, “True value isn’t in what you own,” but she never listened. One day, Lily noticed a girl from another class whose name was Coco. Coco’s family was wealthy, but she always wore simple clothes and carried an old schoolbag. Unlike Lily, Coco never joined the students’ discussions about brands or prices. Instead, she spent her time helping classmates with math problems or volunteering in the school library. Her grades were always at the top of the class, and everyone respected (尊重) her. Lily couldn’t understand why Coco didn’t care about material things. One afternoon, Lily saw Coco sitting alone under a tree, reading a book. She decided to talk to her. “Why don’t you buy nicer things?” Lily asked. “Your family has enough money.” Coco looked up with a smile. “I’d rather spend money on things that matter,” she said. “Like helping others or buying books.” That night, Lily thought about Coco’s words. She realized that she had been looking for things that didn’t bring real happiness. The next day, she made a decision: she would stop comparing herself with others and start focusing on what was truly meaningful. The following week, Lily began to learn from Coco. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Months later, teachers and classmates all praised Lily. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026 — 2027学年上学期十月质量检测试题 英语 考试时间:120分钟 满分:150分 注意事项: 1. 根据文章第三段“People often camp overnight on the island, as it is only accessible by boat. (人们经常在岛上露营过夜,因为只能乘船抵达。)”可知,Pulau Hantu 岛交通不便,需乘船前往,且常需过夜,因此一天内难以往返。故选D。 【2题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一个海滩中“The white-sandy beach is man-made and it’s the perfect place to relax in the sun, read a book away from the crowds (这座白色的沙滩是人工建造的,是沐浴阳光、远离喧嚣安静读书的绝佳去处)”;第二个海滩中“This island has a quiet beach far from busy tourist spots. (这座岛屿拥有一处远离繁忙旅游景点的宁静海滩。)”;第三个海滩中“You can enjoy a quiet beach on St. John’s Island. (您可以在圣约翰岛上享受一片宁静的海滩。)”;第四个海滩“ Coney Island beach is the perfect place to relax away from the crowds. 根据第二段中“While I was eating dinner, he was in the bath, and suddenly he started crying. I asked him what happened, and he said, “Shampoo (洗发水) got in my eyes.” (当我吃晚饭时,他正在洗澡,突然他开始哭了起来。我问他怎么了,他说:“洗发水进了我的眼睛。”)”可知,作者的儿子昨天感觉眼睛里有东西。故选D项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“I got really worried and rushed into the bathroom. I tried to help by splashing (泼) water on his eyes, but things got worse when he rubbed his eyes with his soapy hands. I was nervous, telling him not to use his hands. (我真的很担心,冲进浴室。我试着往他眼睛里泼水来帮忙,但当他用沾满肥皂的手揉眼睛时,情况变得更糟了。我很紧张,告诉他不要用手。)”和第四段中“Out of the blue, he said, “Calm down! Dad.” It amazed me. I realized I was making things worse. I stopped splashing water, washed his hands, and calmly told him to use his hands to clean his eyes while blinking (眨眼). (突然,他说:“冷静点!爸爸。”这让我很惊讶。我意识到我把事情弄得更糟了。我停止泼水,洗了他的手,平静地告诉他一边眨眼一边用手清洁眼睛。)”可推知,作者一开始让情况变得更糟是因为他错过了一个重要步骤,即应该先洗干净儿子的手,再让他用手清洁眼睛。故选A项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“My son’s lesson reminded me that staying calm and taking a moment to relax can help us face challenges with a clear mind, more energy, and better solutions. (我儿子的教训提醒我,保持冷静,花点时间放松一下,可以帮助我们以清晰的思维、更多的精力和更好的解决方案来面对挑战。)”可推知,作者认为我们可以保持冷静,通过理清思路来解决问题。故选B项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段中“Yesterday, my 6-year-old son taught me a valuable lesson that stayed with me for hours. (昨天,我6岁的儿子给我上了宝贵的一课,让我好几个小时都难以忘怀。)”和最后一段中“My son’s lesson reminded me that staying calm and taking a moment to relax can help us face challenges with a clear mind, more energy, and better solutions. (我儿子的教训提醒我,保持冷静,花点时间放松一下,可以帮助我们以清晰的思维、更多的精力和更好的解决方案来面对挑战。)”可推知,作者在解决洗发水进入儿子眼睛这一问题的过程中学到了面对问题要冷静思考,这体现了育儿也是学习的过程。故选C项。 C Many people think that because freezing (冰冻) and then unfreezing food will break down vitamins (维生素), frozen vegetables and fruits must be less nutritious than fresh ones. 【答案】8. B 9. C 10. B 11. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章通过对比冷冻与新鲜果蔬的维生素保留情况及引用专家研究,说明冷冻果蔬与新鲜果蔬在营养价值上差异不大,反驳了“冷冻果蔬质量更低”的观点。 【8题详解】 词句猜测题。由文章第一段“Many people think that because freezing (冰冻) and then unfreezing food will break down vitamins (维生素), frozen vegetables and fruits must be less nutritious than fresh ones. (许多人认为,因为冷冻然后解冻食物会破坏维生素,所以冷冻蔬菜和水果一定比新鲜的蔬菜和水果营养少。)”可知,人们认为冷冻会破坏维生素,所以觉得冷冻蔬果不如新鲜蔬果有营养,即健康,故nutritious意思是“有营养的 / 营养丰富的”,即是健康的。故选B。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第三段“But for frozen fruits and vegetables, right after they’re picked, they will be quickly frozen at -18℃.At this temperature, the “breathing” almost stops, and tiny living things can’t grow. Freezing helps keep vitamins in fruits and vegetables safe — it doesn’t hurt them, and it might even help. (但是对于冷冻水果和蔬菜来说,在采摘后,它们会立即在-18℃下快速冷冻。在这个温度下,“呼吸”几乎停止,微小的生物无法生长。冷冻有助于保护水果和蔬菜中的维生素——它不会损害它们,甚至可能有所帮助。)”可知,温度会影响采摘后的蔬果的维生素。故选C。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第四段“Experts from the U.S. 由文章最后一段“For these reasons, international health groups say that both frozen fruits and vegetables and fresh ones are acceptable. The old idea that “frozen fruits and vegetables are low quality” is no longer true. A。 D If the term “renewable energy” brings to mind a sea of solar panels (太阳能电池板), you’re not alone. 【答案】12. C 13. A 14. B 15. D 【解析】 【导语】文章主要讲述海浪能作为可再生能源的优势,科学家借助模型研究它,同时指出开发面临的难题与环保开发的要求。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Ocean waves, however, crash onto shore morning, noon and night, making them ideal for producing energy around the clock.(然而海浪日日夜夜拍打海岸,这让海浪十分适合全天候发电。)”可知,海浪能的主要优势是可以不间断产生。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“SWAN predicts the intensity and distribution of ocean-wave energy. To achieve this, it takes into account factors such as wind conditions, seafloor features and interactions between different waves.(SWAN模型可以预测海浪能的强度与分布。为实现这一目标,它会将风力状况、海底地貌以及不同海浪之间的相互作用等因素纳入考量。)”可知,SWAN不仅仅分析海浪,还参考多种其他要素。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Huge storm waves can damage the converters, Cartwright says. He also adds that seawater gradually breaks down metal components (部件).(卡特赖特说,巨大的风暴海浪会损坏转换器。他还补充说海水会逐步腐蚀金属部件。)”可知,开发海浪能最大难题是保护转换器不被损坏。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“From the vast resources of the ocean, wave energy has the potential to make a huge contribution towards our clean energy needs of the future,” Nascimento says. But he adds, “It needs to be done in a sustainable way, in harmony with the environment.”(纳西门托说:“海洋资源十分丰富,海浪能有巨大潜力,可以极大满足我们未来清洁能源需求。”但他补充道:“开发必须以可持续的方式开展,与环境和谐共处。”)”可知,他态度积极但十分谨慎。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Whether you’re heading out for a day trip or a quick weekend getaway (短期休假), we will share some travel tips in this guide to help you make your experience more enjoyable. F. The best doesn’t necessarily mean the fastest. G. Besides, they are a bit behind the real traffic time. F 17. C 18. E 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 根据后文“Sometimes it means the most enjoyable. Too much consideration on short journeys is not worth it. Recently, many students have mentioned that while you’re clearly a passionate teacher, class activities sometimes come across as repetitive. They’ve noticed that the lack of variety has led to a gradual decline in their engagement with English. Could you try introducing new activities? For example, group debates, role-plays about daily life, or watching English videos followed by discussions. These ideas could make lessons more dynamic and encourage active participation. We deeply appreciate your dedication and hope these suggestions help create an even more enjoyable learning environment. Thank you for your understanding! Yours sincerely, Li Hua 【解析】 【导语】本篇书面表达属于应用文。要求考生给外教Chris写一封邮件,向其说明同学们所反馈的课堂活动形式单一使大家的学习兴趣逐步减退的问题,并提出建议。 【详解】1. 词汇积累 热情的:passionate → enthusiastic 导致:lead to → bring about 参与:participation → involvement 感激:appreciate → be appreciative of 2. 句式拓展 同义句转换 原句:They’ve noticed that the lack of variety has led to a gradual decline in their engagement with English. 拓展句:They’ve noticed that the class activities, which often repeat the same patterns and lack variety, have led to a gradual decline in their engagement with English. 【点睛】【高分句型1】Recently, many students have mentioned that while you’re clearly a passionate teacher, class activities sometimes come across as repetitive. (运用了that引导宾语从句和while引导让步状语从句) 【高分句型2】We deeply appreciate your dedication and hope these suggestions help create an even more enjoyable learning environment. (运用了省略that的宾语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Lily was a high school student who loved comparing herself with others. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The following week, Lily began to learn from Coco. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Months later, teachers and classmates all praised Lily. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The following week, Lily began to learn from Coco. She started by organizing her own bookshelf, donating clothes she seldom wore to charity, and spending more time reading in the library. Gradually, she found joy in helping others too. When a classmate struggled with English, Lily offered to study together after school. She even joined Coco in the library volunteer team. Instead of checking social media for the latest trends, she now looked for opportunities to make a difference. Her parents noticed the change — she talked less about buying things and more about what she had learned or who she had helped. One afternoon, while walking home, Lily realized she hadn’t compared herself to anyone all week. For the first time, she felt truly content. Months later, teachers and classmates all praised Lily. Not only had her grades improved noticeably, but she had also become one of the most kind-hearted and respected students in school. During a class meeting, her teacher mentioned Lily’s transformation as an example of “real growth.” Coco smiled at her from across the room, and Lily knew she had finally understood what her parents meant by “true value.” It wasn’t about what you had, but who you became. Lily still liked pretty things, but now she valued kindness, knowledge, and generosity far more. She had learned that happiness comes not from having more, but from being more — for yourself and for others. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①整理:organize/sort ②捐赠:donate/contribute ③主动提供:offered to do/took the initiative to ④寻找机会:looked for/searched for 情绪类 ①满足:content/satisfied ②善意:kind-hearted/benevolent ③慷慨:generosity/magnanimity ④快乐:joy/happiness 【点睛】【高级句型1】One afternoon, while walking home, Lily realized she hadn’t compared herself to anyone all week. (状语从句的省略句,省略that的宾语从句) 【高级句型2】Not only had her grades improved noticeably, but she had also become one of the most kind-hearted and respected students in school. (部分倒装句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
