Tom meets his friend Leo in the school hallway.
“What’s up?” Tom waves and asks.
Leo looks at a photo Tom shows him. “The face rings a bell. I think I met him before, but I can’t remember his name.”
They see a new student trying to join the basketball team. Leo says, “He seems nervous. Maybe he feels like small potatoes because everyone else is much taller and better at basketball.”
Leo smells nice. Tom asks about it. “It’s my mum’s toilet water. It has a light sweet smell.”
Then Leo sighs. “My bedroom is at sixes and sevens. Books and clothes are everywhere. I need to tidy it up.”
Tom tells Leo his grandma has green fingers. All her flowers and vegetables grow beautifully in the garden.
Leo failed his last English test. Tom encourages him: “Pull up your socks! Work harder, and you will get better next time.”
