五、阅读理解(四选一)
For a long time, the small riverside town of Riverside depended on fishing and farming. Young people left for big cities to find jobs, leaving behind mostly the elderly. The once busy streets became quiet, and many old houses stood empty.
Ten years ago, the town leaders decided to act. Instead of pulling everything down, they protected the old wooden houses and the stone bridge, and turned some into small inns (客栈) and tea houses. Artists were invited to paint murals (壁画) on the walls. A riverside walkway was built so people could enjoy the view.
Slowly, tourists began to come — first on weekends, then every day. Local people opened family restaurants serving river fish and homemade cakes. Some young people returned to run guesthouses or sell handcrafts online. New jobs appeared, and the population stopped falling.
Of course, not everyone is happy. Some worry that rising prices push local families away, and that the town may turn into “just a photo spot” for visitors. The leaders say they will keep a balance: protect the old, but also keep life affordable for locals.
Today Riverside is lively again — not the same as before, but full of new energy, with its history still clearly visible in every old beam (房梁) and stone.

六、阅读表达(根据短文内容回答问题,答案不超过规定词数)
阅读下面短文,按要求作答。
A tiny mountain village called Stone Valley used to have only one winding dirt road. When it rained, the road turned to mud and cars couldn’t pass. Children had to walk two hours to the nearest school, and many families lived in poverty.
Everything changed when a solar-power (太阳能) project and a new paved road arrived. Solar panels (太阳能板) on rooftops now provide cheap electricity. The new road lets minibuses run daily to the town. A small eco-farm was set up; visitors come to pick fruit and learn about green energy. Villagers sell honey, tea and handicrafts to tourists.
Village head Mr. Zhao says, “We didn’t copy big cities. We used what we had — sunshine, fresh air and beautiful mountains.” Now the village school has internet, and a young teacher returned to teach computer classes.
Stone Valley shows that development doesn’t mean losing your roots. With smart planning, even the smallest village can glow (焕发光彩).
