Mastering a new knowledge point can take a lot of time, but what do you do if you need to learn something quickly? With the help of expert Ted Dorsey, we’ve got a list of tips to help you learn things faster.
1. Take handwritten notes.
If you’re in a class, listen carefully to the lecture and write down the keywords and phrases you hear. Taking handwritten notes helps you remember information better the first time you learn it, so you don’t have to review it over and over again in the future.
2. Say it out loud.
Oral repetition cuts down on learning and review time because the information is more ingrained (牢固的) in your brain the first time you learn it. If you’re studying from a book or your notes, read important keywords and sentences aloud to lock them into your memory.
3. Teach the information to others.
As you study the information yourself, try to think about how you would teach it to a friend. What key facts and examples would you include? Research shows that studying information by teaching it to someone else helps you remember it better and recall it more easily.
4. Connect the information with something in your life.
“Find a way to make it apply to you,” suggests Dorsey. For example, if you’re reading a book in an English class, try relating something that has happened in your life. “The more you personalize the information you're learning, the more likely it’s going to stick,” says Dorsey.

Last term, my English was really poor. I spent hours memorizing words every day, but I still forgot them quickly. When I had English tests, I always got low marks and felt upset.

I followed her advice. Every morning, I wrote three sentences with the new words I learned. After school, I listened to my favourite English songs and repeated the lyrics. At weekends, I watched funny English cartoons and tried to understand the dialogues.

Would you like a cool in-game skin for free? Watch out! It might be a scam (诈骗).
Police across China have reported more scams aimed at teenagers. For example, in Shanghai, 15 percent of those scammed were under 25, with the youngest just 7 years old, data in June showed.
The scams often center around secrecy and fear. One common type involves online games. In Tongzhou district (区), Beijing, the police caught a group that offered teenagers “free” game skins. The teens were told to download programs that let scammers secretly control their phones and computers and steal money without needing a password.
Some scams are trickier and harder to see through at first. In one case, a student got a video call from a stranger. The man wore a police-like uniform and showed a “case-filing notice (立案通知书)”. The student got so scared that he transferred (转账) 183,000 yuan from his father’s bank account, as the man asked.
There are also part-time job scams. In these scams, scammers ask teens to pay money first, promising to pay them back with their “earnings” later.
Although the methods are different, these scams usually follow three steps, according to Wang Qi, an official with Tongzhou police. First, scammers post fake ads (虚假广告) on social media, in video game chat rooms or in the comment sections of short-video apps. Then, they send a link or QR code (二维码) and trick teens into downloading apps with “remote (远程的) help” or “screen-sharing” features. Finally, scammers scare teens into keeping everything secret from their parents, then use the bank or payment details they get to steal money.
In the future, the police plan to introduce new anti-scam (反诈) tools and share more cases. They will also continue public education in homes, schools and businesses.
26.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Online games are the main reason teenagers lose money.
B.Online scams are targeting teenagers in more and more ways.
C.Police are teaching teenagers how to avoid part-time job scams.
27.According to the passage, what did the scammers do to trick teenagers in Tongzhou district?
A.They sold fake game skins at a low price.
B.They posted part-time job ads in video game chat rooms.
C.They used “free” gifts to make teens download dangerous programs.
28.What does the underlined word “trickier” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Harder to see through. B.Easier to deal with. C.More exciting to watch.
29.What can we infer from the passage?
A.The police plan to depend on new anti-scam tools to fight online scams.
B.Teenagers may face higher risks of being cheated online compared with adults.
C.Teenagers may keep things secret from their parents when tricked by scammers.
30.How is the passage organized?

China Through a Foreigner’s Eyes
I’m David Miller from Australia, and I have lived in Wuhan since 2012. I’m often amazed by how fast this country changes.
Foreigners are most surprised by the way people travel. In 2012, I took a night train from Wuhan to Xi’an, and the trip took over ten hours. Today, the same trip takes about four hours by high-speed train. China now has the world’s longest high-speed rail network—over 45,000 kilometres. When the train runs at about 350 kilometres an hour, I still find it hard to believe.
Shopping and paying have changed just as much. I used to carry some cash. Now shopping is easy: take out my phone, scan a QR code, and everything is done. I can even pay for a bowl of noodles at a street stall, which saves me much time.
I also spend some weekends in the countryside. The changes there are surprising. My friend’s village used to be poor, with narrow and muddy roads, so farmers could hardly sell their fruit in the city. Great changes have taken place, though. New roads reach every family’s door, the water is clean, and farmers sell their crops online. Young people are even coming back to start their own business—the real power of China’s rural revitalization
I’ve noticed another change as well: the country is getting greener. Dirty air used to be a big problem, but today more electric buses are running and millions of trees are planted. Everyone can breathe clean air happily.
Of course, every coin has two sides, and I have met difficulties too. Still, I have been deeply touched by these changes, ________. I’m proud to be a witness (见证者) to all of them.Complete the mind map according to the passage.

后文最后一段提到“Every morning I listen to English materials”,前后呼应,listen to符合听力练习的设定。look for“寻找”、think about“思考”、wait for“等待”均和英语新闻的学习方式不匹配。
for、to、on均无法构成该常用短语。
16.D 17.B 18.A 19.D 20.C

27.根据文章第三段“In Tongzhou district (区), Beijing, the police caught a group that offered teenagers ‘free’game skins. The teens were told to download programs that let scammers secretly control their phones and computers and steal money without needing a password.”,可知北京通州的诈骗分子用“免费”游戏皮肤这类礼物,诱骗青少年下载危险程序。
28.根据文章第四段“Some scams are trickier and harder to see through at first.”,句中and连接表意相近的并列内容,“harder to see through”是对trickier的补充说明,可推知trickier意为更难识破的。
29.根据文章第六段“Finally, scammers scare teens into keeping everything secret from their parents, then use the bank or payment details they get to steal money.”,诈骗分子会吓唬青少年,让他们对父母隐瞒所有相关事情,由此可推断出青少年被诈骗分子欺骗时,可能会向父母保密。

Improve Our Memory
Good memory is very important for our study. With better memory, we can learn knowledge more easily.
