①Are you a curious person?
②If you’re often willing to learn more about something, then you possibly are. But as American researcher Perry Zurn shows us, not all curious minds are of the same kind. There are at least three styles of curiosity: “busybodies,” “hunters” and “dancers.”
③“Busybodies” like to collect bits of information on all kinds of topics. They’re not running after any certain goal. Instead, they’re just interested in the world around them. “Hunters,” however, go after answers in detail. They follow a clear path to reach their goals. “Dancers” jump at new ideas or put together old ones in new ways. They would like to take the road less traveled.
④Zurn and his team went on to see how these curiosity styles happen in real life. They focused on readers of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia (维基百科全书). Their research included 482,000 people from 50 countries. For each person, the team looked at how many different topics he or she read about and how closely those topics were connected. For example, did someone look up Pierre Perifel and then read about his new film, The Bad Guys? Or did he or she jump from the filmmaker to pu’er tea?
⑤The results showed that all three types of curious minds are among today’s internet users. “Busybodies” read widely, but they mostly liked sports, food and the arts. “Hunters” cared more about science and technology (技术). Interestingly, they were more likely to feel worried after their curious hunt than the other two types. That’s possibly because they had stronger drive to fill in the missing parts in their knowledge.
⑥According to Zurn, we are each born with a natural curiosity style. However, it is also possible for us to develop the other two styles by spending time with teachers or friends who think differently. That’s good news. After all, curiosity works best when all three styles live in one mind.
1.According to the results of Zurn’s research, ________ with ________ would like to be creative.
① “Busybodies” ②“Hunters” ③ “Dancers”
A.①, (c) B.②, (a) C.③, (b) D.③, (a)
2.Zurn and his team studied these people by looking at ________.
① how many articles they read every week ② how many different topics they read about
③ how closely linked the topics they read about were ④ how much time they spent doing curious searches every day
A.①② B.②③ C.③④ D.①④
3.What can we learn from the article?
A.The chart (图表) includes all the results of the research .
B.From the chart, readers can see that “Dancers” are more interested in sports and the arts.
C.The underlined sentences in Para 4 give an example to show how two (or more) topics can be closely connected.
D.“Hunters” can become more like “dancers” or “busybodies” by spending time with people of the same thinking.
4.What’s the structure of the article?
A.①/②/③④⑤/⑥ B.①/②/③④⑤⑥ C.①/②/③④/⑤⑥ D.①/②③④⑤⑥
5.Which can be the title of this article?
A.How to Be Different B.Great Minds Think Similarly
C.Curious Minds Think Differently D.To be Creative or Not
【答案】1.C 2.B 3.C 4.A 5.C
2.根据第四段“For each person, the team looked at how many different topics he or she read about and how closely those topics were connected.”
5.本文核心内容是说明并非所有好奇心都属于同一类型,不同的好奇者有不同的思维模式,结合文中“not all curious minds are of the same kind”的核心表述,“Curious Minds Think Differently”符合文章主旨。

3.What can we learn from the article?

B.From the chart, readers can see that “Dancers” are more interested in sports and the arts.
C.The underlined sentences in Para 4 give an example to show how two (or more) topics can be closely connected.
D.“Hunters” can become more like “dancers” or “busybodies” by spending time with people of the same thinking.
