Unit 5 Look into the future
Lesson 6 (Wrap up & Let's explore)
I. Teaching Aims
1. To review the key words and sentence patterns of Unit 5 through the "Play to win" game.
2. To read and understand the passage about 3-D printing pens and answer questions.
3. To share opinions about 3-D printing in pairs and tell the class.
4. To self-assess learning progress through the "Check it" section.
II. Key and Difficult Points
Key points: Review the unit vocabulary and "will" sentence patterns; understand the passage about 3-D printing pens.
Difficult points: Use complete sentences to express opinions about 3-D printing; understand the steps of using a 3-D printing pen.
III. Teaching Tools
PPT, textbook, 3-D printing pictures, word cards, worksheet, game board.
IV. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Lead-in (5 mins)
Show pictures of future life (flying cars, robots, farms under the sea, etc.). Ask: "What will life be like in the future?" Students share their ideas freely.
[Purpose] To activate students' prior knowledge and lead them into the topic of the unit.
Step 2 Play to win (10 mins)
Play the "Play to win" game. Show 10 "Will..." questions on PPT (e.g., Will cars fly? Will we travel to the moon? Will we use 3-D printing to make our food? etc.). Students answer in groups. The group with the most correct answers wins.
[Purpose] To review unit vocabulary and "will" sentences in a fun way.
Step 3 Check it (5 mins)
Students read the three "Check it" statements and fill in the blanks with their own words:
1. I can talk about the future with words and expressions like ______.
2. I can talk about my ideas about future life, ______.
3. I can say what I can do for a better future, ______.
Ask some students to share their answers.
[Purpose] To help students reflect on their learning and build confidence.
Step 4 Let's explore – Read and answer (10 mins)
Read the passage about 3-D printing pens together. Ask: "How does a 3-D printing pen work?" Students read and find the answer. Then read the six steps to make a dog with a 3-D printing pen (Draw a dog → Circle over the body → Go over again and again → Make other parts → Stick them together → You'll get a cute dog!).
[Purpose] To train reading skills and understand the process of using a 3-D printing pen.
Step 5 Work in pairs – Think and share (8 mins)
Ask: "Is 3-D printing a good thing?" Students work in pairs to discuss and share their ideas. Then invite some pairs to tell the class their opinions.
[Purpose] To develop speaking skills and critical thinking.
Step 6 Summary and homework (2 mins)
Sum up the unit. Homework: Write 3 sentences about what you think 3-D printing will do in the future.
[Purpose] To consolidate the unit content and extend learning beyond class.

VI. 教学反思
本节课通过"Play to win"游戏和"Check it"自评活动复习了单元内容,学生参与度较高。但部分后进生在游戏环节抢答跟不上节奏,下次可多给思考时间。3-D printing话题较新颖,学生兴趣浓,但讨论环节个别学生词汇量不足表达不完整,今后可提前准备句型支架卡片帮助后进生开口。
