第一节
Dear fellow students,
My name is Li Hua.It is a great honor to be
·英语·
here to share our experience.
During the planning stages, with the theme
“Save Food,Save the World”,our group focused
on the background knowledge of World Food Day.
After dividing our task,we first collected a lot of
information about world hunger and food waste.
Then,we designed the layout and chose some
impressive pictures.Finally,we added some eye-
catching slogans to call on everyone to cherish
food.
It is teamwork that helped us take the first
place.Through this activity,we not only learned
how to work together but also realized the
importance of saving food.Let's all take action to
make the world a better place.
Thank you!
第二节
My hesitation melted away.My hands were a
little shaky, but I ran towards them quickly,
catching up just as they reached the door."Wait!"I
shouted.They turned,surprised,their helmets still
in their hands."Here,I said, holding out the tray.
"You need this more than I do.I'm not in a rush-
but you are."They thanked me repeatedly and took
the lunch.I stood by the door, watching them rush
toward the fire truck, their uniforms fading into the
distance,a sense of relief lingering in my chest.
I went back to the counter, only to find the
manager waiting for me."That was really nice of
you,she said with a grin.When I reached for my
wallet to pay for a new burger, she shook her head.
"Kindness like that shouldn't go unrewarded."A
wave of warmth washed over me,and tears nearly
blurred my vision.Sitting back down with my fresh
meal,I took a bite-and it tasted better than
anything I'd had in a long time.That day,I didn't
just feed two people.I became part of a circle of
kindness-the kind that makes this busy, messy
world feel a little softer.

In spring 2017,Avila Pinedo and her classmates from Garey High School founded the
school's first invention club.Noticing their low-income community's high diabetes
)rate and insufficient healthcare access, the team planned to invent a toenail-cutting
tool for diabetic patients.Surprisingly, after submitting the idea to Lemelson-
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Lemelson-MIT),the Garey High group was
awarded one of the 15 InvenTeams for 2017-2018.
Yet subsequently, the teens questioned their proposed invention due to sharp-tool
risks.Concerned about the new direction, they approached the Lemelson-MIT Program
for advice,where Leigh Estabrooks,a seasoned academic,encouraged them,"Invention
advances;changes and adjustments are common-that's the process.Despite the change
in plans,Estabrooks praised the community-centered approach.
With renewed determination, the team resolved to develop a tool to monitor blood
oxygen levels in diabetics feet. This shift was essential and demanded considerable effort.
Avila Pinedo recalled the team invested every spare moment in research.
Each team member performed specific functions in the process.Avila Pinedo led the
development of the sensor (that measured blood oxygen levels.Lacking prior
technical skills,Avila Pinedo determined to employ online resources to acquire how to
build the electrical system and finally built the sensor."Invention offers a chance to
explore the boundaries of your creativity and capabilities and unlock the power of the
invention mindset. It doesn't mean you must know how to build a sensor, but you do need
to take responsibility for your own education,"Pinedo said.Ultimately, under the team's
cooperation,their invention,named Heart and Sole,became a reality.
The experience lit Avila Pinedo's passion, inspiring her to serve as an advisor to
primary pupils recently.Guiding them through hands-on engineering and programming for
a STEM initiative,she said,"Invention is transformational,witnessing its empowering
influence on InvenTeamers and others who realize that applying imagination and concepts

A battle broke out at the weekend over a hedge (in Lincolnshire. The hedge,
near the town of Winterton, was covered in netting by Partner Construction, which has
applied for planning permission to build 40 homes on the site. This is standard practice,
the developer said,in order to prevent birds from nesting in a habitat that might be
damaged if building work begins later in the year.
However,a group of local people opposed to the development produced a video
showing birds trapped beneath the nets.Chris Packham shared the video on Twitter.
Packham said the nets showed disregard of how to look after the countryside, and said,if
he were there,he would“tear those nets'”.
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 makes it illegal to intentionally "take,
damage or destroy"the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built. In theory,
this even bans people from cutting away some of the branches of their fruit trees if doing
so harms a nest that they know is there.Any tree or hedge becomes a protected site the
moment a bird settles in it,which is often the case between February and August-
potentially shutting down an entire construction site for the busy half of the year.
To address the problem, conservationists and builders agree to find a middle ground.
Netting an empty tree or a bush in winter is certainly better than making the birds look
for a new site in the middle of the reproduction season."Netting is probably the lowest-
impact option if a habitat has to be removed during the reproduction season,"a
spokesman for Partner Construction said."We appointed qualified and experienced
ecologists to carry out the work on our behalf. They have convinced us and provided
photographic evidence that there were no birds in the hedge after it was netted."
28.What is the standard practice according to Paragraph 1?
A.Protecting birds with hedges.
B.Applying for planning permission.
C.Removing hedges from the site.
D.Netting permitted construction sites.
29.What does the underlined word "disregard"in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Evidence.B.Prospect.
C.Ignorance.
D.Inefficiency.
30.What do we know about the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981?
A.It protects wild birds'nests.
B.It permits proper construction.
C.It guides tree cutting practice.
D.It prioritizes bird nesting seasons.

Confirmation bias refers to people's tendency to seek out information that supports
their existing beliefs. While it's usually subconscious, its impacts are significant. It can
cloud people's judgement and decision-making processes.
One explanation for confirmation bias (is that it is an efficient way to process
information.Humans are constantly fed with information and cannot possibly take the
time to carefully process each piece. It is adaptive for humans to rely on subconscious
意识的),automatic judgements that contribute to the efficiency.Another reason why
people show confirmation bias is to protect their self-worth.People like to feel good about
themselves, and discovering a belief they highly value is incorrect makes them feel bad
about themselves. Therefore, confirmation bias will encourage them to disregard the
information contrary to their belief.
Researches show that confirmation bias is strong and widespread. In studies
examining my-side bias, people were able to generate and remember more reasons
supporting their side of a controversial issue than the opposing side.Only when a
researcher directly asked people to generate arguments against their own beliefs were they
able to do so.It is not that people are incapable(无能为力的)of generating arguments
that are contrary to their beliefs, but, rather, people are not motivated to do so.
Confirmation bias also surfaces in interpersonal communication. When interacting
with people who perceivers think have certain personalities, the perceivers will ask
questions that are biased toward supporting the perceivers'beliefs. If a new roommate is
expected to be friendly and outgoing,Maria may ask her if she likes to go to parties rather
than asking if she often studies in the library.
Confirmation bias may lead to incomplete and misinterpreted understanding of an
issue or topic,as crucial information many be overlooked or dismissed. Thus,to avoid it,
people are supposed to diversify the sources of information accessed as seeking multiple
perspectives brings a broader understanding of the subject matter and allows for well-
rounded decision-making.Another way is to actively challenge the bias by questioning
assumptions and relying on evidence rather than personal opinions, which helps us
consciously recognize informational biases and minimize their impact.
32.Why do people show confirmation bias?
A.To help maintain their dignity.
B.To prevent shallow judgements.
C.To handle complex information.
D.To develop their logical reasoning.
33.What did the studies in Paragraph 3 find?
A.People couldn't produce arguments against their belief.
B.Information supporting people's belief often won preference.
C.It took considerable motivation to face controversial issues.
D.People focused on information concerning the opposing side.
34.How does the writer illustrate confirmation bias in communication?
A.By making comparison.
B.By giving an example.
C.By introducing a study.
D.By defining a concept.

It was a winter morning when I received a package with no return address. The plain
brown wrapping gave no clues, and my name was handwritten in shaky letters.36
Inside was a small wooden box,its surface carved with intricate patterns of vines and
birds.I lifted the lid.A faint scent of cedar (filled the air.37 It was my
grandmother's brooch ()-the one she always wore to Sunday dinners, with a single
pearl suspended like a dewdrop. She had passed away three months earlier, and the family

My hands trembled as I picked it up.38 The weight of the brooch in my palm
felt like a connection to a past I had been neglecting. Then I noticed a slip of paper tucked
beneath the velvet lining. The handwriting matched the package:"For the girl who loved
listening to stories under the old oak tree.Keep this close when you write yours."

two years before her death-too busy with school and friends to visit.Guilt washed over
me like a tide. How easily life's distractions can pull us away from what truly matters.
That evening,I examined the brooch under lamplight.40 The year Grandma and

tears blurring my vision,as I remembered those carefree days. From that moment on,I

It was a typical busy noon at the downtown fast-food spot. The smell of sizzling
patties and crispy fries lingered (in the air,and the place was packed with folks
rushing to grab a quick meal.I'd just gotten off a long morning at work, and my stomach
was empty as I finally reached the front of the line and got my order-a burger, fries, and
a cold drink.
As I set the tray (down on a small table by the window,I glanced over and
saw two firefighters in the corner.Their uniforms were heavy with faint spots, like they'd
just stepped away from a smoky scene, and their boots still held a hint of damp from the
morning dew. They stood in the back of the line, shoulders relaxed but eyes tired.
I was just about to pick up my burger-the cheese melted perfectly-when a loud,
sharp siren (cut through the noise of the restaurant. The two firefighters froze for
half a second,and then moved.No hesitation,no exchange of words-just muscle
memory. One grabbed his helmet off the nearby counter, the other adjusted his radio on
his shoulder, and they turned toward the door, their steps quickening.I watched them
go,and my fork paused mid-air.
My empty stomach served as a quiet reminder of how long I'd waited for this meal.
I'd stood in that line for 15 minutes,my feet aching from the morning's work.Giving
them my lunch meant I would have to wait again-maybe another line, maybe my break
slipping away faster.I bit my lip, staring at the tray. Then I thought of their uniforms,
the spots, the way they'd act upon hearing the siren like it was a call they couldn't ignore.
They didn't get to pause for a meal when emergencies hit. They'd probably go hours
without eating, running from one call to the next.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

Now we are targeting men age twenty five to forty who love the outdoors and have an interest in technical devices to match this new audience. We needed a bottle design that really appeals to them today. I'm excited to reveal the new bottle design. As you can see, IT looks like a black metal drinking container with digital features printed on IT to suggest the feel of other tech devices. It's designed to fit comfortably in your hand and can be easily opened. Impressed with just one hand. Let's move onto sizes. Adventure attack will come in two sizes, a regular size in a small travel size. Initially, we considered launching the regular size first and releasing the travel size three months later, but our team shed knowledge and worked long hours, often going above and beyond their regular responsibility, ie. S, to ensure every detail was perfect. So both sizes are ready to launch together. Finally, regarding our production timeline, we set to launch in two months with the marketing campaign starting next month. For a full overview of all the process, you can check our website. That's all for now. Are there any questions feel free to ask if we run out of time? You're welcome to email me for more details. Hi everyone, thanks for coming to this short presentation. Finally, regarding our production timeline, we are set to launch in two months with the marketing campaign starting next month. For a full overview of all the process, you can check out website. That's all for now. Are there any questions feel free to ask if we run out of time? You're welcome to email me for more details. 听力部分到此结束。
