“I felt my cold knees become warm after the treatment. I could walk much more comfortably than before,” said an old woman who suffered from serious knee pain. For years, she tried different ways to reduce her pain, but few of them worked well.
This special healing treatment from ancient China is called moxibustion (艾灸). It is a valuable part of traditional Chinese medicine, which has a history of over 2,000 years. It has its own special understanding of how the human body works. For thousands of years, Chinese people have used it to keep healthy and treat different kinds of sickness.
Moxibustion includes several different kinds of ways. The moxa-cone therapy (艾炷疗法) is one of the most popular ones. In this therapy, the doctor puts a cone (圆锥体) of dried moxa (艾绒) on the patient’s skin. Next, he lights the top of the moxa cone. When the patient feels too hot, he takes away the burning cone at once. Finally, he puts a small piece of ginger between the moxa and skin to protect the patient from being hurt. Moxibustion was added to China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产) in 2010. Another common treatment is the moxa-stick therapy. The doctor holds a burning moxa stick over the sore part of the body and moves it slowly up and down. Warm heat goes deep into our body and helps people feel better.
At present, moxibustion is widely used in many traditional Chinese medicine hospitals across China. A famous TCM doctor shared his idea, “In our hospital, for grave illnesses, we mainly depend on modern medicine. But for chronic (慢性的) body pain, such as knee ache or neck ache, the strengths of moxibustion offer greater advantages.”
Moxibustion has won great popularity outside China. As more people across Asia get to know this useful treatment, it plays an important role in sharing Chinese traditional culture. Nowadays, plenty of foreign learners come to China to study the skills of moxibustion. There is no doubt that this time-honored ancient wisdom will keep shining and bring comfort to more people around the world.
24. How long is the history of moxibustion?
A. Around 1,500 years. B. Over 2,000 years.
C. Around 500 years. D. Over 3,000 years.
25. What is the right order of the moxa-cone therapy?

A. b-c-d-a B. c-b-d-a C. b-d-c-a D. c-d-b-a

Miss Martha owned a small warm bakery in a quiet street. She was a forty-year-old, gentle and kind lady. She always treated every customer with patience and care. Most people came to her shop for sweet cakes, soft rolls and fresh bread, but one special guest caught her attention. The gentleman visited the shop two or three times a week. He was always neatly dressed, quiet and polite. Every time he came, he would smile softly and say, “Two loaves of stale (不新鲜的) hard bread, please.” He never bought any fresh food.
Miss Martha became curious about him. Looking at his simple clothes, she guessed he must be a poor but talented artist who lived a hard life alone. Hoping to offer some warm help without hurting his pride, she thought up an idea. One afternoon, when the man arrived as usual, Miss Martha secretly cut his two stale loaves, filled them with thick fresh butter, and packed them neatly again. She smiled quietly, believing her little kindness would bring comfort to the man.
Soon after he left, the shop door was pushed open roughly. The gentleman returned quickly. “What on earth have you done?” he shouted angrily. “You have destroyed (摧毁) all my work! I have spent weeks on this drawing!”
Miss Martha was completely shocked. She stared at him in surprise and asked nervously, “I’m so sorry, sir. I just wanted to give you a little warmth. I thought you needed better food.” In fact, the man was not an artist at all. He was a draftsman (绘图员). Dry stale bread was his special tool to clean pencil marks on his drawings. The soft butter had badly influenced his careful work.
At that moment, Miss Martha felt extremely ashamed and regretful. She realized suddenly that blind kindness, without true understanding, could finally turn into a bad mistake.
(Adapted from The Witch’s Bread)

D. Because she wanted to help him as well as protect his self-respect.

A. He was too poor to afford any fresh food.
B. He had a special need for stale hard bread.
C. He tried his best to show off good manners.

30. What can we infer from the passage?

31. What lesson can we learn from the story?

① On the morning of September 1, 2026, Zhihui-1, a new liquid-fuel rocket (液体燃料火箭), finished its first flight successfully. The great launch (发射) took place at the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Site. Thousands of people watched the exciting moment and cheered for the wonderful success.
②What makes Zhihui-1 so special? It is not built by the government. Instead, a private Chinese space company developed this rocket. For many years, sending things to space was mainly the job of state-owned (国有的) groups. Now private companies are joining the space race, just like car and phone companies. This change means more new ideas and more chances for China’s space development.
③Liquid-fuel rockets are hard to develop. Compared with solid-fuel (固体燃料) ones, they have more complex (复杂的) inner parts. However, they have clear strengths. They can carry heavier equipment into space and are better for building large satellite (卫星) groups. Besides, they can be reused in future flights, which helps cut down the cost of space tasks.
④The success never came easily. Hundreds of young scientists and engineers spent years solving technical problems. They tested many times and kept improving their designs before the final launch. Many team members worked day and night to deal with unexpected difficulties. Without their hard work, this great success would never appear.
⑤ ▲ The rocket can send satellites at a lower cost. These satellites help us with GPS, TV signals, phone calls and weather prediction. They also help scientists study space climate and collect useful information for future space research.
⑥This big win encourages more teenagers to love science and engineering. More young people may want to work in the space industry in the future. It also tells us that space is no longer only for a small number of experts.
⑦In short, Zhihui-1’s flight is more than just a rocket launch. It opens a new door for China’s space industry and brings space closer to all of us. We are looking forward to more amazing progress in China’s space business.
32. Which of the following is an advantage of liquid-fuel rockets?
A. They have simpler inner parts.
B. They are only developed by state-owned groups.
C. They cost nothing to build and test.
D. They can carry heavier equipment into space.
33. Which sentence can be put in ▲ in Paragraph 5?
A. What difficulties do space scientists meet in their work?
B. Why does this launch matter to common people?
C. How do private companies build liquid-fuel rockets?
D. Where will future space travel take place?
34. What can we know about China’s space future from the text?
A. More common people may have access to the space field.
B. Experts will not take part in space launches any longer.
C. Few teenagers will show interest in space field.
D. China’s space business will stop improving.
35. Which of the following can be put in the blanks of the structure?
A. Problems & Efforts; Influences & Suggestions
B. Reasons & Problems; Results & Suggestions
C. Advantages & Efforts; Values & Influences
D. Advantages & Problems; Suggestions & Influences

Recently, a group of 8-year-old Chinese football players has caught nationwide attention. The Chinese U8 youth football team joined the well-known Brava Cup in Spain. Many football fans at home and abroad paid close attention to their games. The young players played through the whole tournament and won all nine of their matches. Finally, they took home the championship (冠军). They beat quite a few strong local Spanish youth teams, including the youth team of Messi’s club. Their wonderful performance won high praise from foreign coaches and audiences. A reporter interviewed some of them to learn more about their success.
These young players have always performed well in daily training. They take every training task very seriously and pay great attention to basic skills. No matter how hot or rainy the weather is, they will carefully finish all their training plans. I always tell them not to only focus on winning games, but to make small progress step by step in each practice. When difficulties come, we stand together as one.
—Head Coach
The games in Spain were really difficult. We had kept hard daily training to get well-prepared. We faced fast and strong foreign players. In many matches, we fell behind at first. But I never felt scared or gave up. I told myself to keep calm and keep running until the last second. Besides, my teammates cheered me on all the time. We stuck together and fought side by side.
—George (Han Chengjun), the star player
Football is never a one-person game. During the tournament, we always encouraged each other when feeling tired or nervous. We went through tough training every day and never stopped even when practice was extremely tiring. When one teammate met difficulties, others would try their best to support him. No one played for personal fame. We trusted each other and fought together as a whole team all the time.
—Lian Junde, team member
This championship is a precious honor and also a new starting point for these young players. Good interpersonal relationships are considered as key social resources for teenagers and play an important role in the progress of their study and daily life. Many studies have proved that teenagers who keep genuine (真挚的) and close relationships with their classmates achieve better performance in all kinds of academic (学术的) tasks. Why? There is no need for them to worry about the relationship with other students so they can focus on their study better. They can carry out their learning plans more smoothly and overcome difficulties that may stand in their way more easily.
Besides, healthy interpersonal relationships can greatly cheer people up. When teenagers are faced with heavy pressure or painful failures, the encouragement that they receive from reliable friends can lift their mood effectively. This positive mental energy stops teenagers from falling into long-term sadness and helps them keep a stable (稳定的) state of mind that is required for both study and life.
However, it takes time and efforts to have a satisfying relationship because it needs continuous efforts and patience. To build warm and long-lasting interpersonal relationships, experts suggest taking simple but effective steps in teenagers’ everyday life. For example, we ought to listen to others patiently, respect viewpoints that are different from ours, and give support whenever our friends run into trouble. It is those tiny, consistent (持之以恒的) actions that gradually create precious friendships.
In short, good interpersonal relationships are really valuable for teenagers. With true friendships, teenagers are not alone when facing difficulties. Friends can cheer them up and offer useful advice. As time goes by, those terrible troubles will not seem so serious.

B. Why does this launch matter to common people?
C. How do private companies build liquid-fuel rockets?
D. Where will future space travel take place?
34. What can we know about China’s space future from the text?
A. More common people may have access to the space field.
B. Experts will not take part in space launches any longer.

Good interpersonal relationships are good for teenagers. Research shows students who have good relationships with classmates ________59________ in study.
