Teachers can now register their classrooms for a student-led global project aimed at
empowering teenagers to design their own strategies to deal with plastic pollution.
Overview
The project's name, created by an environmental explorer and project founder,
symbolizes the systematic reduction of disposable(一次性的)plastics through changing
norms and behaviors to address the root causes of pollution. The goal is to reach 25
countries within three years. The English version launched in 2023 has already attracted
over 65 schools from 23 countries.
Timeline
The project will officially open for registration to English-speaking students this summer.
Classrooms participating in the project will be led by teachers and supported by the project
team in a three-month period.During the time, student teams will design practical
strategies to address plastic pollution in their communities.Students will also have the
opportunity to showcase their solutions and interact with like-minded peers from around
the world at a festival in Florida next November, either in person or virtually.

Interested teachers and school administrators can register their classrooms for the English
version of the project by visiting the relevant website. The project uses a project-based
learning approach and targets students aged 15-16,aiming to make young people the main

In 2006,as a 10-year-old living in one of Delhi's busiest markets,I would often run
downstairs to buy milk, eggs or vegetables for my mother. The shopkeepers knew me by
face and often guessed my order before I even spoke. These small market runs taught me
more than I realised at the time-quick mental maths, conversations with strangers, and
backup plans when a shop was shut.So much unintentional learning!
Over time, these routines became daily comfort.Whether it was me or my mother,
we enjoyed the smiles, brief chats, and snacks along the way-small moments that
quietly held our lives together.
Now,things are different.With Blinkit,Zepto,and Instamart,groceries arrive in 10
minutes. While I still enjoy shopping in the market after work,my mother begins her day
by comparing prices on apps and ordering everything with a few taps ()The grocery
trips that once lifted her mood, improved her health, and helped her stay connected with
the neighbourhood have disappeared. The joy of being known,of interacting,is dying.
And it's not just her. Many of us now rely more on apps and less on people. Our
growing reliance on instant delivery is reducing those everyday moments of interaction.
There's the financial cost too. When you're too tired or too busy to plan your groceries,
you end up ordering in pieces-adding things you don't need just to hit the free-delivery
minimum.
Of course, these apps are a gift on tough days when we're sick or short on time. But
next time you feel like opening a grocery app,try walking to your local shop instead. You
might come back with more than just groceries-a smile,a quick chat, and a sense of
connection.Sometimes, the cost of convenience isn't what you pay. It's what you miss.
4.What does the author think of early market runs?
A.Adventurous.B.Valuable.
C.Tiring.
D.Complex.
5.How did the author's mother change her shopping habit later?
A.She turned to online shopping.
B.She visited groceries with neighbours.
C.She cared about discounts in stores.
D.She ordered whatever lifted her mood.
6.What concerns the author about instant delivery?
A.It takes away small social moments.B.It involves paying extra service fees.
C.It results in poor physical condition.
D.It makes people addicted to shopping.

Watching sports,particularly at large gatherings,goes beyond entertainment.It
fosters a sense of community and belonging among audiences.Although it is popularly
recognized for its positive effects, existing studies on the relationship between watching
sports and well-being offer only limited evidence.
Recognizing this gap,a team of researchers led by Associate Professor Shintaro Sato
from the Faculty of Sport Sciences,Waseda University,Japan, started a groundbreaking
study.A significant challenge in well-being research is the subjective nature of
measurement procedures, potentially leading to biased findings."Therefore, our studies
focus on both subjective and objective measures of well-being.explains Prof.Sato.
In the first study,an online survey was aimed at investigating whether the connection
between sports viewing and well-being varied depending on the type of sport observed.
The experiment exposed participants to various sports videos, assessing their well-being
both before and after viewing. The findings underscored that widely accepted sports, like
baseball, produced a more significant impact on enhancing well-being compared to less
popular sports,such as golf.
However, the most groundbreaking aspect of this research emerged in the second
study. Here, the team employed neuroimaging techniques to examine alterations()in
brain activity following sports viewing.Using multimodal MRI neuroimaging
measurement procedures, the brain activity of fourteen able-bodied Japanese participants
was analyzed while they watched sports clips. The results showed that sports viewing set
off activation in the brain's reward circuits indicative of feelings of happiness or pleasure.
Additionally,a noteworthy finding surfaced in the structural image analysis. It revealed
that individuals watching sports more frequently exhibited greater gray matter volume in
regions associated with reward circuits, suggesting that regular sports viewing may
gradually cause changes in brain structures. Both subjective and objective measures of
well-being were found to be positively influenced by engaging in sports viewing.
The study has profound implications and theoretical contributions to sports
management literature.Existing literature has primarily focused on sports fans;however,
this study has taken into consideration a larger general population irrespective of their
relationship to sports consumption. This research can contribute significantly to sports
management practices and policymaking for public health.
8.Why did Shintaro Sato conduct the research?
A.To arouse public interest.
B.To provide more evidence.
C.To entertain larger audience.
D.To contradict existing studies.
B

9.What may be a suggested way to boost well-being according to the study?
A.Playing golf frequently.
B.Watching baseball regularly.
C.Identifying types of sports accurately.D.Organizing sports events occasionally.
10.What can be learned about changes in brain?
A.Golf playing boosts brain's activity.
B.Different sports cause better brain image.
C.Soccer playing triggers brain's reward circuits.
D.Regular sports viewing affects gray matter volume.
11.What is the potential contribution of this research?
A.Better policy for public health.
B.Stricter requirements on sports fans.

Goldman Sachs estimates there were over 80 million social media influencers globally
in 2024,spanning platforms like Instagram,TikTok,and YouTube, with the number
growing 10%-20%annually.While some perceive influencing as a pastime, others
pursue it full time, drawn by stories of influencers making tens of thousands of dollars per
post or launching their own brands.Morning Consult reports that 57%of American Gen
Zers dream of becoming influencers, with 53%referring to it as a "respectable career".
For companies, the appeal of influencer marketing lies in its capability to target
specific audiences through content creators, alongside consumers'rising social media
engagement.Influencer Marketing Hub notes 86%of brands globally plan to invest in
influencer campaigns in 2025,up from 37%in 2017,with nearly a quarter committing
over 40%of their marketing budgets to such efforts.
However, the influencer boom presents challenges.Goldman Sachs reveals only 4%
of influencers earn over $100,000 annually.AI-generated "virtual influencers"like
Aitana Lopez-a computer-designed fitness expert with 330,000 Instagram followers-
threaten to flood feeds (further. While small creators with modest followings
may earn side income, few can quit their regular jobs.Market overcrowding also makes
online fame unstable.Joe Gagliese of Viral Nation warns that even viral moments don't
guarantee lasting success:"If influencers don't take advantage of the momentum ()
someone else will.”
Consumer exhaustion adds another hurdle.A 2023 McKinsey survey found 68%of
global fashion consumers were critical about the massive amount of sponsored content.
Anita Balchandani of McKinsey notes influencers initially gained attention as "trusted"
voices, but maintaining veracity alongside paid promotions is now crucial.Seeking this
balance is key to staying relevant in an overcrowded market.

the industry grows,so does the gap between the fascinating dream and real sustainability.

As an enthusiastic reader,I've always believed that the key to understanding the
world lies in the pages of a book.16 They introduce us to characters who feel as real
as the people around us.This connection between readers and the text is what makes
literature so powerful, and it's why I value my personal library. It's a collection that

collection, ranging from classic literature to contemporary fiction.17 Each type
offers a different perspective,a new way of looking at life. While some books challenge
my thinking,others provide comfort.It's important to have a balance.A well-organized
library is like a well-balanced diet for the mind.
Among my favourites are the works of Jane Austen and George Orwell.Austen's
sharp observations on society and relationships are timeless. Her characters are imperfect
yet charming.Orwell,on the other hand, offers a stark (view of the world.18

humanity.

My brother Jack was so smart that he earned a full scholarship to Harvard.I often
wished he wasn't so perfect because it made me feel like I had to work twice as hard just
to prove myself to others. On one hand, his success was a challenge that I enjoyed, but on
the other hand,it was a huge pressure that I struggled to cope with.
To balance his record in high school,I felt like I was constantly running on a
treadmill(跑步机),devoting every moment to a non-stop race..There was no room for
relaxation as I pursued that perfect record. My life seemed to be compressed into a series
of endless tasks and deadlines.
"I needed an A,"I repeated to myself before the biology test,so that I would
maintain my perfect record and secure a place on the honor roll.I studied till the last
minute of lunch and rushed to class.I felt a sense of confidence as I glanced over the first
page of the test, quickly filling in the answers with a smile. However,as I turned to the
last page,my mind went blank.Time ticked by,and soon, the classroom began to empty
as students finished their tests and left, except me."Lara, class ended.I need you to hand
in your test,"Mrs.Phloem said, stretching out her hand.Reluctantly,I handed her the
test paper.
The next day,I received my test back.I stared dumbfounded at the red mark:76.
Not even a B minus,my mind screamed.Just average.It's over.No perfect record.I felt
an unprecedented(前所未有的)sense of frustration and disappointment..After school,.I
dragged my heavy feet back home. When I pushed open the door,Jack was sitting on the
couch, reading.Seeing his leisurely state,I cried, hard to contain the jealousy and sadness
in my heart.Jack immediately noticed the depression on my face.He asked with concern,
"What's wrong,Lara?"Blinded by frustration mixed with a touch of jealousy,I shouted
at him,“How I wish you were not so perfect!”

第二节
With a sign of hurt and surprise in his eyes,
Jack gently approached me.He placed a hand on
my shoulder, asked me again what had happened.I
took out my test paper and told him that I would
never match up to him in a choked voice.Jack's
smile grew warmer, and he gave my shoulder a
reassuring squeeze."You don't have to measure up
to anyone and your worth isn't defined by grades or
achievements. You're more than just a number on a
test.Remember that be yourself;everyone else is
already taken.”
His words were like a warm breeze, blowing
my depression away and changing my mindset.I
was still engaged in endless tasks and deadlines,
but I no longer felt frustrated by my brother's
shadow.Realizing that comparison is the thief of
joy,I strove for excellence instead of perfection,
which was often unattainable and led to burnout.I
felt a weight lifted off my shoulders as I realized
that my value wasn't tied to a single test score.I
felt more confident and less overwhelmed as I knew
that believing in doing my best would always be the
ultimate best score.
