When he was small, his grandmother often took him to watch puppet shows in the old part of the city. Back then, he thought they were boring. “I could not understand why the old people loved them so much,” he says. Everything changed two years ago. Chen Hao’s school started a project called “Art in Safe Hands”. Students were asked to choose a traditional art and learn something about it. Chen Hao chose puppetry, partly because it reminded him of his grandmother, who had died the year before. At first, learning puppetry was much harder than he had expected. A puppet can have more than twenty strings, and each finger has its own job. “My hands were too slow, and the puppet kept falling over,” he remembers. His teacher told him to practise for twenty minutes every day instead of two hours once a week. Six months later, Chen Hao gave his first show at a local primary school. More than a hundred children watched him bring a little wooden tiger to life. “When they laughed, I knew it was all worth it,” he says. Now Chen Hao has his own channel online. He posts short videos to teach beginners how to move the strings. Some of his viewers come from other countries. “Folk art is not old-fashioned,” he says. “It just needs young people to carry it on.” 1. Why did Chen Hao choose puppetry for his school project? ______________________________ 2. What did Chen Hao’s teacher tell him to do? ______________________________ 3. What does Chen Hao think of folk art? ______________________________ 阅读表达(二) Every summer, Wang Lin goes back to her grandparents’ village in the mountains. The village is small, and most young people have left for big cities. Only the old people stay. Three years ago, Wang Lin noticed something sad. Her grandfather could tell wonderful stories about the village—how people built the first road, why the old well was protected, and what happened during the terrible flood. But nobody had written these stories down. “When these old people are gone, their stories will go with them,” she thought. So Wang Lin started a project. She borrowed a small recorder and began to visit the old people one by one. At first, they were shy and did not know what to say. She brought them tea and sat quietly, listening for hours. Slowly, they opened their hearts to her. By last winter, Wang Lin had recorded more than forty stories. She typed them out at night and put them into a book with old photos. Her teacher at school helped her check the facts. The book was printed by a small local company, and two hundred copies were given to the village school. “History is not only in museums,” Wang Lin says. “It also lives in the words of ordinary people.” She hopes other teenagers will start similar projects. “Every village has a story. If we do not save it, it will disappear for ever.” 1. Why did Wang Lin decide to start her project? ______________________________ 2. What did Wang Lin do to help the old people open their hearts? ______________________________ 3. What does Wang Lin want other teenagers to do? ______________________________ 参考答案 阅读表达(一) 1.
