Let's take a look at a sentence in Chinese: "研表究明,汉字序顺并不定一影阅响读。" Did you notice that some of the Chinese characters are in the wrong order? You might not realize it, but your brain can read and understand most sentences. This may have something to do with psychology (心理学), according to Chen Qingrong from Nanjing Normal University.
When we're first learning how to read, we read word by word. But after we become more experienced, we read in full phrases and even sentences. Also, we don't feel special about the words we are familiar with. As a result, we don't pay much attention to small details (细节), such as word order.
When we read the sentence at the beginning of this article, the content (内容) was already familiar to us. So we read it the way we think it should be in our memory. This is like when we see a person with long hair, we think the person is a girl without taking a closer look, according to Chen. This can also be seen in many other languages. For example, "This is because the huamm mind does not read ervey letter, but the word as a whole."
Matt Davis from Cambridge University explained the reason. He pointed out that humans mainly remember the meanings of words by their shape and layout (布局), instead of the strict order of letters.
Although our brains are good at guessing and understanding disordered information, this habit may make us miss small mistakes. Therefore, we should still develop careful reading habits and pay attention to correct word order in our daily study.
36. How does the writer introduce the topic?
A. By directly stating facts. B. By giving an example. C. By sharing an experience.
37. What do experienced readers pay attention to while reading?
A. Word order. B. Every single letter. C. Full phrases and sentences.
38. Why does Chen use the example of a person with long hair in Paragraph 3?
A. To prove right word order makes reading easier. B. To warn us not to judge a girl by her appearance. C. To show we miss details when words look familiar.
39. What is the best title for this passage?
A. The Key to Improving Reading Skills B. The Importance of Correct Word Order C. The Secret to Reading Disordered Words
40. How do humans mainly remember the meanings of words?
A. By their shape and layout (布局) B. By the strict order of letters C. By full phrases and sentences

Music has power. It can make us feel happy, calm, or even cry. But did you know that music can also help people who are sick?
In many hospitals around the world, music therapists (治疗) work with patients. Music therapy is a way of using music to help people feel better. It can help patients who are in pain, who are feeling sad, or who have trouble speaking.
A music therapist might ask a patient to listen to a piece of music, sing a song, or play a simple instrument. For a patient who has had a stroke and cannot speak, singing familiar songs can help train the brain to form words again. For a child who is afraid of an operation, listening to soft music can make them feel safe and relaxed.
One music therapist, Sarah, works in a children's hospital. She says, "I see children who are in pain smile when we sing their favourite songs together. Music gives them a break from the fear and the pain. It doesn't cure the illness, but it makes the difficult time easier to bear."
Scientists have found that music can lower blood pressure, slow down the heartbeat, and reduce stress. It is a safe and enjoyable way to support medical treatment. As more hospitals start music therapy programmes, more patients will be able to feel the power of music.
