Unit3 Happy together
Hit it big 第五课 (教学设计)
一、Teaching Aims
1. Students can think and share answers to the questions about their best friends in groups.
2. Students can make a poster about their best friend(s) using key sentences from the textbook.
3. Students can tell the class about their poster and talk about friendship rules.
二、Key and Difficult Points
Key points: Make a poster about best friends; use sentences like "Who is your best friend?", "What do you like to do with your best friend?", "We help each other. We share things."
Difficult points: Express friendship rules using complete sentences; organize ideas logically when making the poster and presenting.
三、Teaching Tools
PPT, pictures of friends doing activities, word cards, students' books, blank paper for posters.
四、Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Lead-in / Think and share
Teacher shows some pictures of children playing together and asks the three questions on page 34: "Who is/are your best friend(s)?", "What do you like to do with your best friend(s)?", "What are the rules of your friendship?" Students think individually first, then share with their desk mates. Teacher writes some useful words on the blackboard.
Purpose: To activate students' background knowledge about friendship and prepare vocabulary for the speaking task.
Step 2: Find photos or draw pictures
Teacher asks students to find some photos of their best friends from home or draw pictures of themselves with their friends. This gives them visual material for the poster. Teacher walks around and helps students choose or draw simple pictures.
Purpose: To give students concrete materials to work with and make the poster task more personal and interesting.
Step 3: Make your poster
Students work in pairs or small groups to make a poster. Teacher shows the example text on page 35: "They are my best friends. Feifei, Taotao, Wenwen and Lili are my best friends. We often read books, watch films and play games together. We help each other. We share things. We talk openly with each other. We're happy together." Students use this as a model and write their own poster text. Teacher gives sentence starters on PPT to help weaker students.
Purpose: To guide students to produce written output using target language and develop their writing ability.
Step 4: Tell the class about your poster
Students stand up and present their posters to the class. Each group has about 2 minutes. Other students listen and can ask one question. Teacher praises good work and corrects major errors gently.
Purpose: To give students a chance to practice speaking in front of the class and build confidence.
Step 5: Summary and homework
Teacher summarizes the lesson: what we learned about friendship today. Homework: 1) Show your poster to your parents and read it to them. 2) Write 3 sentences about your best friend in your notebook.
Purpose: To consolidate the lesson content and extend learning beyond the classroom.
五、Blackboard Design
Unit 3 Happy together - Hit it big
Make a poster about your best friend(s)
Questions: Who is your best friend? / What do you like to do? / What are the rules?
We often ... together. We help each other. We share things. We talk openly with each other.
We're happy together.
