第一节 应用文写作(满分 15 分)
66.Dear Yang Lin,
I fully appreciate your frustration after failing last week’s English exam and finding English tough to learn, a common situation among high school students.
What counts most in English study is effective learning strategies rather than blind hard work. It is recommended that you listen to authentic English materials daily and sort out your mistakes carefully. Besides, only when you accumulate vocabulary persistently and practise reading can your English competence be improved gradually.
As long as you stick to these methods consistently, there is no doubt that you are bound to harvest satisfying progress soon. Never lose heart and I’m always ready to offer help if you need it.
Best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写 (满分 25 分) 。
67. I told that to my mother, feeling upset. Mom told me that we would surely meet with problems which no one could avoid in our life! She said she had gone through the similar hardships, and she was still going through. But she believed she was smart enough to solve them. Therefore, it was important for me to know how excellent I could be and just face challenges with confidence! Then Mom asked for taking a look at my homework.
Hearing my mother's words, I became inspired. Mom took the time to explain the questions patiently so I could totally understand them. When we got a question right each time, we would clap our hands as if I had just made an amazing achievement. By celebrating like this, I learned how to take every challenge, no matter how big or small, as a good chance to build up self confidence. Eventually, I shouted out the sentence from my heart, "I did it!"

In school, there are certain things I think Iˈm good at: Chemistry, English, Math, etc. But Latin (拉丁语) is not one of them. For the past few years, Iˈve had a hard time learning the subject, while my classmate, whom Iˈve known since I was a kid, was a Latin prodigy (天才), mastering every sentence that was thrown at her. But, I had one thing over her: I had Chemistry. While she mastered her grammar, I mastered my gases. While she was busy writing, I was doing experiments.
However, one week we had a Latin test and I was not at all prepared for it. Fearing that I would fail the class, my parents told me to go to my classmate for help. I went to her house and sat down with her, ready for her to make fun of me. But what I found was a patient teacher, one who wanted to help me do better and honestly didnˈt care at all about the gap (差距) in our knowledge. After just a period of hard work and studying, my confidence had already increased.
I did better in Latin, and my grade improved, but my friend still faced challenges in Chemistry. Now that I knew how far a little help could go, I offered to help her with some of the knowledge points that she didnˈt understand. From that point on, our tutoring sessions (辅导课程) became more favorable to both sides. She would help me with Latin, and Iˈd help her with Chemistry.
From this I was also able to realize how good tutoring was for the tutors themselves, a job I used to think was only good for the person learning. Once I started tutoring her, I started to think about my Chemistry work differently, not just how to solve the problems but why they worked and how to explain the reasoning behind them.
So next time youˈre struggling in school with a certain subject, instead of reading the textbook over and over, looking online or just worrying, ask your classmates how they understand the material.
24.What problem did the author have?
A. She had difficulty in learning Latin.
B. She couldnˈt get along with her classmates.
C. She wasnˈt interested in learning languages.
D. She failed to balance her time for all subjects.
25.Why did the author go to her classmate?
A. She wanted to instruct her classmate in Chemistry.
B. She wanted to make up with her classmate.
C. She wanted to get away from her parents.
D. She wanted to get help for a coming test.
26.What does the underlined word "favorable" in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Normal. B. Boring. C. Advantageous. D. Difficult.
27.How does the author think tutoring influences the tutors?
A. It helps them make more friends.
B. It improves their problem-solving skills.
C. It offers them chances to explore a new job.
D. It encourages them to think deeply about the problems.

It is often said that if we dream in a foreign language, itˈs a sign that we are making progress in learning that language. But is it true?
Before we can look at multilingual (多语言的) dreams, first we need to look at sleep. The link between sleep and language can be applied to how we learn any language, including our mother tongue. Even adults still learn about one new word every two days in their first language, but if we are going to have a firm grasp of that new word, we need to link it to our existing knowledge. "In order to do that, we need to have some sleep," says Gareth Gaskell, a psychology professor at the University of York.
Itˈs during sleep that the connection of old and new knowledge happens. At night, one part of our brain—the hippocampus (海马体)—takes whatever new information it got in the day, and passes it on to other parts of the brain to be stored. The role that dreams play in this night-time learning process is still being studied, but itˈs entirely possible that during multilingual dreams, the brain is trying to connect two languages, according to Marc Zuist, researcher at the University Hospital of Psychiatry in Switzerland.
So having multilingual dreams could mean that our brain is trying to master a new word or phrase, but it could also have an emotional significance (情感意义). Danuta Barker, a professor of psycholinguistics (心理语言学) at the University of Silesia in Poland, suggests that multilingual dreams can express fears and desires around learning a foreign language, including the wish to be a native-like speaker or to be accepted within a certain community.
We clearly still have a lot to learn about multilingual dreams, but one thing seems certain: if youˈre trying to learn a new language, you should definitely sleep on it.
28.Which of the following does Gareth agree with?
A. Adults are better at learning.
B. We can learn words while sleeping.
C. Our existing knowledge is from dreams.
D. Multilingual dreams have nothing to do with progress.
29.What is the function of the hippocampus?
A. Studying the role of dreams. B. Analyzing the learning process.
C. Developing new areas of the brain. D. Absorbing and delivering information.
30.What does Danuta Barker study?
A. Emotion and dreams. B. Languages and communities.
C. Universities and courses. D. Words and expressions.
31.Whatˈs the main idea of the passage?
A. Why we learn a foreign language in the dream.
B. Learning languages is completely from sleeping.
C. Sleeping plays an important part in the development of brains.
D. How multilingual dreams are connected to language learning.

Learning English as the second language for non-native English speakers is not an easy task. It needs to spend a considerable time before you could speak or write the English language. There are only two ways to learn the English language or any other language you prefer.
The first one needs a lot of money because of the requirements needed. If you notice, a person migrated (移民) to another country and stayed there for a couple of years and then went back to his home non-native speaking country, the person became so familiar in speaking English. This is the most effective way of learning to speak and write a language unfamiliar to you.
The learner learns the language because he/she is forced to do so because there is no other language being used. Not to mention that, the learner should adapt to the environment. It is all started from listening. This is the process how language is acquired if you will stay long in a foreign country.
The second one is the traditional way. You go to school or learning center specialized in teaching English as the second language. Obviously, this is cheaper than the first, but it needs a considerable time before you will learn to familiarize the language. Today, there are different language centers offering their services for people to learn the language in your own country. They brought all the materials needed because, compared to the first one, they're affordable and reasonable.
Nowadays, learning English as the second language is one of the global trends. Since the English language is used in most of the business transactions you should be on it too. Otherwise you will not go along with the future trends that will arise.
32.The most effective way of learning a second language is to ______.
A. learn from the native speakers
B. spend a lot of time
C. open your mouth to practice more
D. live in the speaking country several days
33.Now an affordable way to learn a foreign language but not to go abroad is to ______.
A. go to a foreign language school B. study in a language center
C. communicate with more people D. invite a foreigner as a teacher
34.The last paragraph mainly tells us ______.
A. the global trends of the present world
B. the difficulty of learning a second language
C. the most important way of learning a second language
D. the importance of learning a second language
35.From the passage we can learn ______.
A. learning foreign languages is easy
B. there are many ways to learn foreign languages
C. family environment is very helpful for learning foreign languages
D. learning foreign languages is good for your future career

Being a 12-year-old girl is hard, and being a 12-year-old girl who has trouble in learning math makes it even harder.
I was standing in front of my mom with my unfinished math homework in my hand, feeling like I was standing in front of a roadblock (路障) that was taller than my imagination.
"I can't do it, Mom! I don't understand it!" Although I couldn't see clearly through my teary eyes, I could still feel my mom's face was filled with concern.
"It's okay. I understand it's hard. You know that I struggled with the same issue before, but it can't decide who you are or how smart you are! Now repeat after me!" Mom said in a kind but demanding voice, "I did it!" She waited for me to follow her. When I tried to speak, the only thing that escaped my mouth was a small sob (抽噎). With one strong loving arm around me, my mom used the other hand to dry the tears that I was no longer able to control.
"Can I see your homework, honey?" As instructed, I slowly handed over the paper. After a short while, she excitedly announced, "You got the fifth question right!" Shrugging (耸肩) my shoulders, I replied, "Yeah, but the rest are probably wrong." Mom smiled, "Although you got some answers wrong, it doesn't make the answer you got right any less important!"
I wanted to believe her. It was almost easy to let her positive words affect me in the moments when it was just her and me. However, every time I was sitting next to the kids of my age and watching them complete work that I couldn't understand, the confidence my mom gave me seemed to disappear suddenly.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I told that to my mother, feeling upset.
