W: Well, we certainly have a busy day ahead of us, so let’s get started, shall we? Let’s have a look at the map of the museum now.
The door on the right of the entrance hall leads into the gift shop and ticket center. Once we pick up our entrance tickets, I’d ask everyone to put their bags and coats in the storage area.
Now, once you come back into the entrance hall, the door on the opposite side to the gift shop leads into the art gallery. There is a special exhibition there at the moment. If you continue on up the entrance hallway that leads into the main exhibition center, on the back left-hand side, there are some toilets. Beside the toilets, you’ll find the 3D theater. I strongly recommend that you make time for the 30-minute presentation in the theater.
Running along the right-hand side of the main exhibition center is the Modern Art Studio. Here, not only can you view some of the most famous works of the 20th century, but you can also attend a workshop run by a local artist. OK, that’s the art museum.

Pamela Malhotra has always attached great importance to education. However, life always seemed to “get in the way” every time she tried to finish her bachelor’s degree. The single mom was so devoted to working to support her two children that she repeatedly put her own education goals on hold, giving up her college program on two separate occasions over the years.
When her son Bonifacio Malhotra was just five years old, he noticed her struggling to get her degree, and he made a promise to help her. “I remember I just told my mom… one day, it’s gonna be you and me,” Bonifacio said. “We’re going to gain our degrees at the same time.” Those words proved to be prophetic for the mom-and-son, who currently walked across the stage at the university to collect their bachelor’s degrees together!
“That promise, he never allowed it to die,” said Pamela. “He continuously confirmed that we’re gonna do this.” Their path to graduation wasn’t easy, but Bonifacio stayed true to his promise and helped his mother along the way. The two hold two associate’s degrees each, so in the fall of 2021 they registered together in bachelor-level online courses. They both found the classes challenging, but Bonifacio stepped up as the cheerleader his mother needed. “Mom, you’ve got to keep it going. I know you want to stop. We must keep going,” Bonifacio recalled. “The main thing was just trying to get everything lined up and stay on top of all the work.”
It took the Malhotras two years to finish their bachelor’s degrees, hers in humanities and Bonifacio’s in public safety administration. Pamela plans to stay at her job as a coordinator, and Bonifacio has accepted a job at university to help other students succeed in college, too.
Pamela said she was incredibly proud of her son’s achievement, and she personally couldn’t have reached her lifelong goal without the support of her family, especially him. “Between my son and my daughter, they were my greatest supporters,” Pamela proudly said.
24. What does the underlined word “prophetic” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Formal. B. Predictive. C. Suitable. D. Responsible.
25. What do we know about the Malhotras?
A. Bonifacio majored in humanities at university.
B. Pamela thought the courses were more challenging.
C. They took online courses at the same time.
D. Pamela now works as a university teacher.
26. Which of the following statements can best describe Bonifacio?
A. He’s a man of his word. B. He’s a man of all work.
C. He’s a man among men. D. He’s the good man of the house.
27. What can be the best title of the passage?
A. We Value the Time Being with Families B. Each Family Has Its Own Problems
C. The Home Is Our Heaven D. Families Help Each Other
B 25. C 26. A 27. D
根据第二段“We’re going to gain our degrees at the same time. (我们将同时拿到学位。)”和“Those words proved to be prophetic for the mom-and-son, who currently walked across the stage at the university to collect their bachelor’s degrees together! (事实证明,这些话对这对母子而言是prophetic,如今他们一同走上大学舞台,共同领取学士学位证书。)”可知,儿子小时候的预言成真,prophetic意为“有预言性的、预见的”。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“The two hold two associate’s degrees each, so in the fall of 2021 they registered together in bachelor-level online courses. (两人各自拥有两个副学士学位,因此在2021年秋天,他们一同注册了本科线上课程。)”可知,母子二人同时参加线上课程学习。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段 “That promise, he never allowed it to die. He continuously confirmed that we’re gonna do this. (那个承诺,他从未让它落空。他一直坚定地说两人一定会完成学业。)”可知,博尼法西奥信守儿时诺言,是一个守信的人。
【27题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文特别是根据最后一段“Pamela said she was incredibly proud of her son’s achievement, and she personally couldn’t have reached her lifelong goal without the support of her family, especially him. (帕梅拉说她为儿子的成就倍感骄傲,没有家人尤其是儿子的支持,她无法实现毕生的目标。)”可知,文章讲述母子互相扶持、共同求学的故事,核心是家人互助。所以D项“Families Help Each Other (家人互助)”符合语境。
C
Leaving the childhood comforts of kindergarten (幼儿园) and moving on to “real school” can be “scary”. So, on their first day of school when entering the first grade, German children traditionally receive a cone-shaped (锥形的) bag. And the bag, called the Schultute, is always filled with treats and toys to make starting school much sweeter.
In the early 1800s in Jena, children were told there was a candy tree in the teacher’s yard, and that when they were old enough to reach it, they could start school. From there the custom spread to Berlin. Back then, the cone was simply a paper one — like those from candy stores — filled with sugary treats. After World War I, the custom spread south and west in Germany. The well-known German author Erich Kastner wrote in his 1957 book, When I Was a Young Man, “When I was a child, I received a bag filled with sweets…” But up through the 1960s, it was not a common practice.
One thing to note: the Schultute is always opened at home, not at school. This practice was especially meaningful during difficult times, when the cone might hold some simple handmade gifts. And at home, with no one else watching, the child could see how much thought went into every little gift — each one saying, “You matter!”.
Today, parents in Germany still buy the Schultute and fill it with a mix of practical school supplies — like pencils, crayons, and notebooks — along with small toys and sweets. Some parents choose to add surprises, such as colorful stickers, fun erasers, or a special book, while others prefer to keep it simple. It’s up to the parents to decide the contents (内容物).
In my opinion, the Schultute doesn’t need to be expensive but remains necessary, as it is a lovely tradition that celebrates a child growing up.
28. What is the main purpose of the Schultute tradition?
A. To provide school supplies for kids.
B. To celebrate the end of kindergarten.
C. To praise kids for their good performances.
D. To make kids less worried about the new start.
29. What is mainly discussed about the Schultute tradition in paragraph 2?
A. Its important changes. B. The way of celebrating it.
C. Its historical development. D. The reason for its popularity.
30. Why was it meaningful to open the Schultute at home in hard times?
A. It could save money. B. It made kids feel valued.
C. It avoided showing off. D. It kept the gifts a secret.
31. What can be learned about the contents of the Schultute?
A. They show kids’ preferences.
B. They meet certain standards.
C. They can be both useful and enjoyable.
D. They are expected to be shared among kids.
D 29. C 30. B 31. C
根据第一段“So, on their first day of school when entering the first grade, German children traditionally receive a cone-shaped (锥形的) bag. And the bag, called the Schultute, is always filled with treats and toys to make starting school much sweeter.(因此,按照德国传统,孩子升入一年级开学第一天,会收到一个锥形袋子,叫做Schultute(开学礼包)。袋子里装满零食和玩具,让开学这件事变得美好愉快。)”可知,“Schultute”传统的主要目的是让孩子对新学期的到来不再担忧。
【29题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“In the early 1800s in Jena, children were told there was a candy tree in the teacher’s yard, and that when they were old enough to reach it, they could start school. From there the custom spread to Berlin.(19 世纪初,在耶拿,大人们告诉孩子们,老师的院子里长着一棵糖果树。等孩子长到够得到这棵树的时候,就可以去上学。这个习俗从耶拿传到柏林。)”可知,第二段主要讲的是“Schultute”的历史发展。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“This practice was especially meaningful during difficult times, when the cone might hold some simple handmade gifts. And at home, with no one else watching, the child could see how much thought went into every little gift — each one saying, “You matter!”.(在物资匮乏的年代,这一习惯意义非凡,袋子里装的或许只是简单的手工礼物。在家中,没有旁人围观,孩子能够感受到每一件小礼物所倾注的心意,每一份礼物都在传递:“你很重要!”)”可知,在困难时期,在家中举行“Schultute”仪式可以让孩子们感到被重视。
【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Today, parents in Germany still buy the Schultute and fill it with a mix of practical school supplies — like pencils, crayons, and notebooks — along with small toys and sweets. Some parents choose to add surprises, such as colorful stickers, fun erasers, or a special book, while others prefer to keep it simple.(如今德国父母依旧会购置 Schultute,里面既有铅笔、蜡笔、笔记本这类实用学习用品,也搭配小玩具和糖果。有些家长会放上彩色贴纸、趣味橡皮、特别的书籍这类惊喜小物件,也有些家长喜欢简简单单。)”可知,“Schultute”的内容物既实用又有趣。
D
While teenagers who are at risk of depression with risky behaviors — drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and skipping school — often warn parents and teachers that serious problems are growing, a new study finds that there’s another group of teens who are in nearly as much danger of experiencing the same mental symptoms.
These teens use tons of media, don’t get enough sleep and have a sedentary (久坐的) lifestyle. Of course, that may sound like a description of every teenager on the planet. But the study warns that it is teenagers who engage in all three of these practices in the extreme that are truly in a dangerous position. Because their behaviors are not usually seen as a red flag, these young people have been called the “invisible risk” group by the study’s authors.
The study’s authors surveyed 15,395 students and analyzed nine risk behaviors, including excessive (过多的) alcohol use, heavy smoking and high media use. Their aim was to determine the relationship between these risk behaviors and mental health problems in teenagers. The group that scored high on all nine of the risk behaviors was most likely to show symptoms of depression, in all, nearly 15% of this group reported being depressed, compared with just 4% of the low-risk group. But the invisible group wasn’t far behind the high-risk set, with more than 13% of them exhibiting depression.
The findings caught Carli off guard. “We didn’t expect that,” he says. “The high-risk group and low-risk group are obvious, but this third group was not only unexpected. It was so different and so large — nearly one third of our sample — that it became a key finding of the study.”
Carli says that one of the most important things about his study is that it provides new early warning signs for parents, teachers and mental health-care providers. And early attention, support and treatment for mental health issues, he says, are the best ways to keep them from turning into severe cases.
32. Which teenager probably belongs to (属于) the “invisible group”?
A. A teenager who suffers from a lack of sleep.
B. A teenager who exercises regularly.
C. A teenager who skips school.
D. A teenager who drinks frequently.
33. What can we know about the new study?
A. It was intended to dig into the reasons for depression.
B. Its findings were under expectation of the research team.
C. It was conducted by analyzing and comparing the previous data.
D. It showed a surprising rate of the invisible group suffering depression.
34. What is Carli’s attitude toward the findings?
A. Unclear. B. Doubtful. C. Positive. D. Confused.
35. What’s the author’s purpose of writing this passage?
A. To introduce a new therapy for teens’ mental disorder.
B. To warn about the unseen signals for teens’ mental problems.
C. To caution teens against developing unhealthy habits.
D. To share a novel psychological experiment with teens.
A 33. D 34. C 35. B
根据第二段“These teens use tons of media, get insufficient sleep and have a sedentary (久坐的) lifestyle. Of course, that may sound like a description of every teenager on the planet. But the study warns that it is teenagers who engage in all three of these practices in the extreme that are truly in a dangerous position. Because their behaviors are not usually seen as a red flag, these young people have been called the “invisible risk” group by the study’s authors.(这些青少年使用大量的媒体,睡眠不足,久坐不动。当然,这听起来像是对地球上每个青少年的描述。但研究警告说,正是那些极端做出这三种行为的青少年才真正处于危险境地。因为他们的行为通常不被视为危险信号,这些年轻人被研究报告的作者称为“隐形风险”群体)”可知,“隐形风险”群体的青少年具有大量使用媒体、睡眠不足、久坐的特点。所以A选项“一个睡眠不足的青少年”可能属于“隐形群体”。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“The findings caught Carli off guard. “We didn’t expect that,” he says. “The high-risk group and low-risk group are obvious, but this third group was not only unexpected. It was so distinct and so large — nearly one third of our sample — that it became a key finding of the study.”(这一发现让Carli措手不及。“我们没有预料到这一点,”他说。“高风险组和低风险组是显而易见的,但第三组不仅出乎意料。它如此独特,规模如此之大——几乎占我们样本的三分之一——以至于它成为了这项研究的关键发现。”)”可知,研究结果让Carli感到意外,这个“隐形群体”的比例很大,成为了研究的关键发现,说明这项新研究揭示了“隐形群体”中患抑郁症的惊人比例。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段“Carli says that one of the most important things about his study is that it provides new early warning signs for parents, teachers and mental health-care providers. And early attention, support and treatment for mental health issues, he says, are the best ways to keep them from turning into severe cases.(Carli表示,他这项研究最重要的意义之一,是能为家长、教师以及心理健康从业者提供新的早期预警信号。他说,对心理健康问题及早关注、给予支持并进行治疗,是防止这类问题演变成重症的最佳方式。)”可知,Carli 认为研究很有意义,也就是说Carli对研究发现的态度是积极的。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“While teenagers who are at risk of depression with risky behaviors — drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and skipping school — often warn parents and teachers that serious problems are growing, a new study finds that there’s another group of teens who are in nearly as much danger of experiencing the same mental symptoms.(有抑郁风险且存在饮酒、吸烟、逃学等危险行为的青少年,往往会向家长和老师发出信号,预示严重问题正在滋生。但一项新研究发现,还有另一类青少年,他们出现同类心理症状的风险几乎同样高。)”和最后一段的“Carli says that one of the most important things about his study is that it provides new early warning signs for parents, teachers and mental health-care providers.

Four Ways to Be a Great Roommate
Having a roommate can be one of the best experiences in college or, easily, one of the worst.___36___Follow these tips to avoid the common mistakes that turn good roommate relationships sour.
◇Talk things out. Communication is key. If something happens, sit down with your roommate and have a face-to-face conversation. I've seen roommate relationships fall apart because something happens and, instead of talking to each other, the two start complaining about their roommates behind their backs.___37___

When Leo transferred to a new high school in the middle of the term, he rarely spoke a single word. Coming from a quiet small town far away, he was extremely shy and quiet, always sitting silently at the back of the classroom. He never participated in any group activities, and even when the teacher asked him simple questions, he would lower his head shyly and reply in a low voice.
But during the art class, Jake, the most lively and playful boy in their class, secretly glanced at Leo’s painting and couldn’t hide the surprise on his face. One day, Ms. White, their art teacher, announced a city-wide art competition, calling on students to create paintings that could reveal their innermost dreams and true emotions. While other students chatted happily and actively shared their creative ideas, Leo sat all alone in his seat, staring blankly at his blank canvas (画布), looking lost and discouraged.
Ms. White walked over and knelt beside him, saying gently, “Everyone has a unique voice in art and yours is just waiting to be heard.” Leo looked up at her for the first time, his eyes full of doubt but also a faint spark of hope. She stayed with him patiently, asking about his beautiful hometown and his hidden hobbies, and little by little, Leo began to open up his heart. With her encouragement, Leo finished his painting and submitted it to the teacher after class, never expecting anyone to notice.
A month later, as soon as classes ended, Jake rushed over to Leo with a bright grin. “Come on, let’s go to the notice board. The result of the art competition is due out today!” he said excitedly. Leo shook his head and whispered, “I’m not going. It has nothing to do with me anyway.” Moments later, loud, excited cheers came from the hallway.
注意:
1.续写词数为150左右;
Jake dashed back and announced the good news.

Everyone soon found Leo’s gradual change.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Jake dashed back and announced the good news. “Leo, you won first place!” he shouted, his voice full of excitement. Leo’s eyes widened in disbelief. He shook his head slightly, thinking it must be a mistake. But Jake grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the hallway. There, on the notice board, was Leo’s painting, a peaceful village with starry skies and children laughing. Ms. White stood nearby, smiling proudly. “I knew you could do it,” she said softly. For the first time, Leo felt seen. A shy smile appeared on his face as classmates gathered around, offering their congratulations.
Everyone soon found Leo’s gradual change. He began to speak more in class, his voice no longer a whisper but clear and steady. He joined group activities and even helped other students with their art projects. Jake became his close friend, and together they painted pictures on the classroom wall. Leo no longer sat at the back alone. He had found his voice, not through words alone, but through colors and brushes. Ms. White’s words had planted a seed, and now Leo was finally blooming. Sometimes a single act of kindness is all it takes to help a quiet heart find its way.

Now the door on the right of the entrance hall leads into the gift shop and ticket center once we pick up our entrance tickets, i'd ask everyone to put their bags and coats in the storage area. Now once you come back into the entrance hall, the door on the opposite side to the gift shop leads into the art gallery. There is a special exhibition there at the moment. If you continue on up the entrance hallway that leads into the main exhibition center, on the back left hand side, there are some toilets. Beside the toilets, you'll find the three d theatre. I strongly recommend that you make time for the thirty minute presentation in the theater or running along the right hand side of the main exhibition center is the modern art studio. Here, not only can you view some of the most famous works of the twenty eighth century, but you can also attend a workshop run by a local artist. Okay, that's the art museum.
Families Help Each Other

◇Don't expect to be best friends. Some roommates become the best of friends, and some don't. Don't put pressure on yourself or your roommate, especially when you first meet.___38___And if your roommate doesn't end up being your best friend, don't worry.
◇Ask before you take. This applies to food, clothes and anything else. If you want to keep a relationship going, show your roommate that you have respect for what is his or hers by asking first.___39___
◇Clean up after yourself. This should do without saying. Don't be lazy. Or, at least, don't bury your roommate in your clothes and garbage. Most people I've come across in college are messy.___40___But being considerate with where you put your stuff will help you avoid conflict.
A. So you need to think twice before you help your roommates out.
B. This creates nothing but awkward situations and unhappiness.
C. Even if you both agree to share everything, you should still ask.
D. You don't have all the time to clean your room and keep it organized.
E. It all starts with you to have a good relationship with your roommate.
F. Sometime you get stuck with someone who has tons of negative energy.
G. Remember, you're trying to make a new friend, not to scare your roommate away.
