B Late one night in July 2020 in Reykjavik, Haraldur(Halli) Thorleifsson was wandering around the city’s main shopping street with his wife and two kids. During their walk, his three-year-old son was thirsty and wanted a drink from the corner store. But Thorleifsson soon discovered he couldn't help with the simple request: A 20-centimetre step blocked his access to the store. The barrier was all too familiar. Born with muscular dystrophy, which causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle, Thorleifsson, now 46, has been using a wheelchair since he was 25. As he waited outside, he recalled, “I thought about how strange it is that we separate families in this way. I thought about all the times I wasn’t able to join my friends at restaurants, pubs and stores that are inaccessible.” Living all over the world as a creative director and digital designer in cities such as San Francisco and Tokyo, Thorleifsson had witnessed first-hand how different cities consider and plan for accessibility, from ramps(斜坡) and sidewalks to public transportation. Having recently sold his digital creative agency, Ueno, to Twitter, Thorleifsson now had the financial means to make a difference in his hometown. He decided to start with a project to make Iceland wheelchair accessible, one ramp at a time. Ramp Up Reykjavik was launched as a non-profit in 2021 with a goal to build 100 ramps, mostly in the city’s down-town, within a year. Unlike portable and temporary solutions in other cities, these ramps are permanent structures that match the aesthetic of the buildings, making them appear as if they’ve always been there. It’s a design detail that helps provide a sense of inclusivity. With the help of government funding and other sponsors, the Ramp Up team finished ahead of schedule and has broadened its scope to all of Iceland, with the goal of building1, 500 ramps countrywide by 2026. 24. What inspired Thorleifsson to build the ramps? A. His inconvenience in life. B. His childhood experience. C. A request from his wife. D. His desire to make a fortune. 25. What made it possible for Thorleifsson to start the project? A. Great donations from society. B. Money from sale of his company. C. Full support from the government. D. A wealth of experience in management. 26. What is special about Thorleifsson’s project? A. It is non-profit. B. It highlights the details. C. It fits in with the surroundings. D. It solves the problem temporarily. 27. Which of the following words can best describe Thorleifsson? A. Flexible and thoughtful. B. Modest and considerate. C. Selfless and confident. D. Generous and helpful. C An ancient Latin proverb says “Aquila non capit muscas” — eagles don’t hunt flies — meaning that important ones shouldn’t concern themselves with small, insignificant matters. But the lions in East Africa should concern themselves with the seemingly insignificant ants, because these ants are changing their lifestyles. The story starts with the acacia trees (金合欢树) in an African wildlife area in central Kenya. Some of these acacia trees provide food and shelter for specific ant species, which in turn defend the tree against herbivores The ants are actively attacking and driving away herbivores that attempt to feed on the tree’s leaves. This is highly effective; the ants not only physically harm the herbivores but also release chemicals that can deter other potential attackers. But these ants are in trouble. Another species called the “big-headed” ant is destroying entire groups of tree-protecting ants. This, in turn, sets off an entire chain of events that ends up influencing when and how lions can hunt. This ant invasion (入侵) affects one thing after the other. It leaves the acacia trees defenseless against herbivores especially elephants. The elephants come in and eat the acacias at five to seven times the rate observed in uninvaded areas. The lions, while hunting for food, have no more trees to use for hiding. This reduced tree cover makes lions less successful at hunting and pushes them to find different areas to hunt in. “These tiny invaders are pulling on the ties that put an African ecosystem together, determining who is eaten and where,” said Todd Palmer, an ecologist from Florida. The lions, which are already endangered, are managing to cope with this by no longer focusing their attention on zebras. The zebras, of course, can see them much better on the approach given the lack of cover. Instead, they are targeting water buffalo. But this also isn’t the end of the story. Who knows what the lions’ changing strategy will mean for the ecosystem down the line? 28. What does the underlined word “deter” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Direct. B. Discourage. C. Identify. D. Seek. 29. What role do the elephants play in the chain reaction? A. Cooperating with “big-headed” ants. B. Damaging the hiding place for lions. C. Protecting the acacias from herbivores. D. Starting off the disturbance of the chain. 30. The author mentions lions, zebras and water buffalo to show that ________. A. animals fall victim to bigger ones B. the ecology is on the road to recovery C. animals are correlated in the ecosystem D. species are firmly positioned in the food chain 31. Which of the following is probably the best title for the passage? A. How ants and buffalo defeated lions. B. How elephants landed zebra in trouble. C. How trees changed lions’ dinner menu. D. How tiny ants affect the way lions hunt. D Think of how many surfaces you touch daily, from your work desk to the bus handrails and your phone screen. Viruses can easily spread via these surfaces. Infection typically occurs by touching a contaminated (污染的) surface — and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Now a team of researchers led by Elena Ivanova created a thin plastic surface with tiny nanoscale features, billionths of a metre in size, that copy the nanostructured surface of insect wings and can physically burst viruses the moment they land. Current methods for preventing virus spread via surfaces usually involves cleaning and disinfection. Disinfectant must remain wet for some time to kill bacteria. This can be challenging in some real-world settings. Surfaces can also be recontaminated quickly when touched by others. And disinfection often requires harsh chemicals which can damage equipment and the environment. Nature offers examples of bacteria-free surfaces, such as the thin water-resistant wings of dragonflies. While these wings are self-cleaning, they act less by pushing bacteria away and more as natural bacteria killers. Experiments the team did with gold-coated wings, which resemble the wings of dragonflies, confirmed this bacteria-killing effect is not driven by surface chemistry, but rather by the physical nanostructures on the surface which essentially force bacterial cell walls to stretch and burst. In this new study, the researchers created a virus-bursting material that was lightweight and flexible: a thin plastic film covered in thousands of tiny pillars (柱子). These nanopillars grab and stretch a virus’s outer shell until it bursts, killing viruses through mechanical force. The mould (模具) they used to create this material can be easily scaled for industrial use, from food packaging to hospital equipment and office desks. Nanostructured surfaces are built for durability. But they will degrade over time under physical, chemical, and environmental stressors. Much remains to be discovered in the search for bacteria-free surfaces. But these nanostructured surfaces have enormous potential in the fight against viruses and provide an alternative to traditional methods. 32. What does paragraph 2 focus on? A. The impact of chemicals. B. The risk of recontamination. C. The challenges of cleaning. D. The disadvantages of disinfectants. 33. What determines the bacteria-killing effect of dragonflies’ wings? A. Their surface structure. B. Their physical composition. C. Their exceptional thinness. D. Their water-resistant property. 34. What is paragraph 4 mainly about regarding the material? A. Its key components. B. Its working principle. C. Its potential applications. D. Its production process. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Killing Bacteria: The Role of Chemicals B. Plastic Film Stops Viruses from Sticking C. Preventing Infection: The Magic of Nature D. Nanopillars Tear Apart Viruses on Contact More than 30% of Gen Alpha children long to become social media creators, with around 32% of 12-15-year-olds naming “YouTuber” as their dream job. ____36____ This is where parental involvement becomes not just helpful, but vital, turning the risks into valuable teachable moments. Yet after being declined by countless enterprises, I ended up finding a temporary job as a birthday clown to make ends meet. I had to admit that the pay of playing the clown was pretty decent, but I struggled a lot with my new identity. Every sleepless night, I couldn’t help asking myself the same question, “Shouldn’t I be a filmmaker rather than a joker doing a ridiculous job?” For certain parties, I had been assigned to play a specific character. Usually, the company would drop off a trash bag filled with a costume for me the night before the party. It was cruel, since these costumes smelled like the broken dreams of every failed actor that’d worm them before me. One night, they handed me my trash bag and said, “Tomorrow you’re going to be Batman.” At the time I had a giant mustache, and a superhero with a mustache wasn’t what parents would anticipate. But I wasn’t in the mood to alter my physical appearance for that job, because that would have meant me admitting I was more of a clown than a filmmaker. So I didn’t shave. The next day, I went to the party. I had to leave my car parked far enough away so that the kids wouldn’t see Batman driving a broken SUV. As a consequence, I had to walk to the party. Normally at these parties, all you have to do is pop in through the front door and say, “Surprise! Batman’s here!” But a group of kids playing at the front door spotted me approaching, like, a quarter of a mile away, which made me start to regret my option. I was thinking, “Gosh, my stupid mustache is going to ruin this party.” Sure enough, once I got close enough for them to start identifying the features of my face, the entire party burst into laughter. Paragraph 1: Super awkward, I turned around and wanted to drive my Batmobile away. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: I ran into the party, and they were all clapping their hands for me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面五段录音。 no. So when I came time for a college, I knew that the cooking institute was definitely the place for me, although a lot of my friends went to study computer and my father wanted me to study science, and when I graduated, I couldn't wait to get started. Well, that was probably my first mistake. I didn't go slowly. I picked a building from my restaurant in a residential neighborhood. I took great effort in decoration, but the parking in the neighborhood was really difficult. I didn't have enough regular customers because people didn't really drive by and see IT. At first, I thought I was great not to have any competition, but I realize now that another restaurant or two would have brought people into the area. My other mistake was that I wanted to serve only the best and use organic food. Well, the problem with that was I had to charge a lot of money for the meals that didn't help business either. A 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第一段中“But Thorleifsson soon discovered he couldn't help with the simple request: A 20-centimetre step blocked his access to the store. (但是Thorleifsson很快发现他无法满足这个简单的要求:一个20厘米的台阶挡住了他进入商店的路。)”可知,生活中的不便激发了他修建坡道的灵感。故选A项。 根据第四段中“Having recently sold his digital creative agency, Ueno, to Twitter, Thorleifsson now had the financial means to make a difference in his hometown. (Thorleifsson最近将他的数字创意公司Ueno卖给了Twitter,现在他有了在家乡有所作为的财力。)”可知,Thorleifsson出售公司所得的钱使他开始这个项目成为可能。故选B项。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中“Unlike portable and temporary solutions in other cities, these ramps are permanent structures that match the aesthetic of the buildings, making them appear as if they’ve always been there. (与其他城市的便携式和临时解决方案不同,这些坡道是与建筑美学相匹配的永久性结构,使它们看起来好像一直都在那里。)”可知,Thorleifsson的项目特殊之处在于与周围环境融为一体。故选C项。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中“Ramp Up Reykjavik was launched as a non-profit in 2021 with a goal to build 100 ramps, mostly in the city's down-town, within a year. (雷克雅未克Ramp Up于2021年作为非营利组织启动,目标是在一年内建造100个坡道,坡道主要在市中心。)”和最后一段中“With the help of government funding and other sponsors, the Ramp Up team finished ahead of schedule and has broadened its scope to all of Iceland, with the goal of building1,500 ramps countrywide by 2026. (在政府资金和其他赞助商的帮助下,Ramp Up团队提前完成了计划,并将其范围扩大到整个冰岛,目标是到2026年在全国范围内建造1500个坡道。)”等内容可知,Thorleifsson是个慷慨大方、乐于助人的人。故选D项。 C An ancient Latin proverb says “Aquila non capit muscas” — eagles don’t hunt flies — meaning that important ones shouldn’t concern themselves with small, insignificant matters. B 29. B 30. C 31. 根据第二段中“The ants are actively attacking and driving away herbivores that attempt to feed on the tree’s leaves. This is highly effective; the ants not only physically harm the herbivores but also release chemicals that can deter other potential attackers.(蚂蚁会主动攻击并驱赶那些试图啃食树叶的食草动物。这种防御方式效果显著;蚂蚁不仅会对食草动物造成物理伤害,还会释放化学物质,以deter其他潜在的入侵者。)”可知,蚂蚁对合欢树具有保护作用,蚂蚁不仅会对食草动物造成物理伤害,还会释放化学物质,以威慑其他潜在的入侵者。由此猜测deter意为“阻止”,与discourage同义。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第四段中“This ant invasion (入侵) affects one thing after the other. It leaves the acacia trees defenseless against herbivores especially elephants. The elephants come in and eat the acacias at five to seven times the rate observed in uninvaded areas. The lions, while hunting for food, have no more trees to use for hiding.(蚂蚁的入侵影响了一件又一件事。这使得金合欢树无法抵御食草动物,尤其是大象。大象吃金合欢的速度是未被入侵地区的5到7倍。狮子在寻找食物的时候,没有更多的树可以用来躲藏。)”可知,在食物链中大象破坏狮子的藏身之处。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“But these ants are in trouble. Another species called the “big-headed” ant is destroying entire groups of tree-protecting ants. This, in turn, sets off an entire chain of events that ends up influencing when and how lions can hunt.(但是这类护树蚂蚁遇到了麻烦。另一种叫做“大头蚁”的物种正在大批消灭护树蚂蚁。这进而引发一连串连锁反应,最终影响狮子捕猎的时机和方式。)”、倒数第二段““These tiny invaders are pulling on the ties that put an African ecosystem together, determining who is eaten and where,” said Todd Palmer, an ecologist from Florida.(来自佛罗里达州的生态学家Todd Palmer说:“这些微小的入侵者正在拉动非洲生态系统的纽带,决定谁被吃掉,在哪里被吃掉。”)”和最后一段中“The lions, which are already endangered, are managing to cope with this by no longer focusing their attention on zebras. The zebras, of course, can see them much better on the approach given the lack of cover. Instead, they are targeting water buffalo.(已经濒临灭绝的狮子正在设法解决这个问题,不再把注意力集中在斑马身上。斑马,当然,可以更好地看到它们靠近,因为缺乏掩护。相反,它们的目标是水牛。)”可知,蚂蚁的入侵导致金合欢树大量被吃,使得狮子在狩猎时失去掩护,这导致以斑马为主食的狮子转而猎杀水牛。由此推知,作者提到狮子、斑马和水牛是为了说明动物在生态系统中是相互关联的。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据文章第一段“But the lions in East Africa should concern themselves with the seemingly insignificant ants, because these ants are changing their lifestyles.(但是东非的狮子应该关注这些看起来微不足道的蚂蚁,因为这些蚂蚁正在改变它们的生活方式。)” “How tiny ants affect the way lions hunt.(微小的蚂蚁如何影响狮子的捕猎方式)”符合题意。 D Think of how many surfaces you touch daily, from your work desk to the bus handrails and your phone screen. 根据第二段“Current methods for preventing virus spread via surfaces usually involves cleaning and disinfection. Disinfectant must remain wet for some time to kill bacteria. This can be challenging in some real-world settings. Surfaces can also be recontaminated quickly when touched by others. And disinfection often requires harsh chemicals which can damage equipment and the environment.(目前通过物体表面预防病毒传播的常用手段,通常包括清洁与消毒。消毒剂必须在表面保持湿润一段时间,才能杀灭病菌。这在一些实际应用场景中很难做到。物体表面一旦被其他人触碰,还会很快再次受到污染。而且消毒过程往往需要使用刺激性强的化学药剂,这类药剂还会损坏设备、破坏环境。)”可知,第二段主要介绍传统消毒剂及消毒方式存在的各类弊端。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Experiments the team did with gold-coated wings, which resemble the wings of dragonflies, confirmed this bacteria-killing effect is not driven by surface chemistry, but rather by the physical nanostructures on the surface which essentially force bacterial cell walls to stretch and burst.(该团队利用仿蜻蜓翅膀结构的镀金翅片开展实验,证实这种杀菌效果并非由表面化学作用驱动,而是源自表面的物理纳米结构;这类纳米结构会从根本上迫使细菌细胞壁拉伸并破裂。)” 根据第四段“These nanopillars grab and stretch a virus’s outer shell until it bursts, killing viruses through mechanical force.(这些纳米柱会抓住并拉伸病毒外壳直至使其破裂,依靠机械力杀灭病毒。)” 通读全文特别是根据第一段“Now a team of researchers led by Elena Ivanova created a thin plastic surface with tiny nanoscale features, billionths of a metre in size, that copy the nanostructured surface of insect wings and can physically burst viruses the moment they land.(如今,由埃琳娜·伊万诺娃带领的一组研究人员研发出一种带有微小纳米级结构的薄塑料表层,其尺寸仅为十亿分之一米;该表层复刻了昆虫翅膀的纳米结构表面,病毒一旦落在上面,就会被物理方式裂解。)”以及第四段“In this new study, the researchers created a virus-bursting material that was lightweight and flexible: a thin plastic film covered in thousands of tiny pillars (柱子). These nanopillars grab and stretch a virus’s outer shell until it bursts, killing viruses through mechanical force.(在这项新研究中,研究人员研制出一种可裂解病毒的轻质柔性材料:一种布满数千根微型柱体的塑料薄膜。 More than 30% of Gen Alpha children long to become social media creators, with around 32% of 12-15-year-olds naming “YouTuber” as their dream job. ____36____ This is where parental involvement becomes not just helpful, but vital, turning the risks into valuable teachable moments. To help us, Ms. Maxson divided us into groups. At first, I thought she would assign us ____57____ (random), but she used a more creative method. First, she gave us a lecture on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), ____58____ system that divides people into 16 personality types based on a questionnaire. According to this system, everyone is either introverted (内向的) ____59____ extroverted; intuitive or sensing; thinking or feeling; and prospecting or judging. Then, we each took the test to discover our type. What I turned out to be was an INTP — the logician. This means I have an analytical and curious mind, often ____60____ (draw) to difficult ideas and theories, ____61____ I thought was quite accurate. However, I noted the test’s limitations. While ____62____ (identify) myself as an introvert, I believe my behavior is context-dependent. What bothered me more was ____63____ the questions seemed kind of easily manipulated (操控) to achieve a desired outcome. From my perspective, ____64____ its imperfections, the MBTI offered valuable insights into our collaborative styles. Finally, Ms. Maxson formed groups considering personality compatibility. Since extroverts were the majority, each team ____65____ (consist) of one introvert and three extroverts. So far, my group has been functioning effectively, and I am optimistic about our project. 56. presentation 57. randomly 58. a 59. or 60. drawn 61. which 62. identifying 63. that 64. despite 65. consisted 【解析】 【导语】文章主要讲述作者在AP研讨课上,老师借助MBTI性格测试划分小组以及作者对MBTI测试的看法。 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Possible version 1: Travel Far, Know More The old saying “A person who travels far knows more” reveals distance is measured in the widening of our minds. Last year, I hiked along the ancient Silk Road in Xinjiang. Standing before a weathered beacon tower in the Gobi Desert, I sensed the loneliness of ancient guards. Running my fingers over the rough bricks, I felt centuries of dust come alive. Later, I was offered warm flatbread by a hospitable local Uyghur family. That far journey didn’t just open my eyes; it opened my heart to lives and stories no books could capture. That is the true reward of traveling far. Possible version 2: Travel Far, Know More The proverb “A person who travels far knows more” suggests stepping out of our comfort zone exposes us to realities beyond books. I learned this truth in a remote village, planting rice alongside locals. We worked for hours in the muddy fields, until my back ached and my legs were covered with mosquito bites. I came to help, but left knowing the cost of every grain and the warmth of strangers. I learned traveling far isn’t about distance, but about stepping into others’ life and reflecting on ours. 词汇积累 揭示:reveal→ uncover 古老的:ancient → time-honored 感觉倒:sense → perceive 开阔视野:open my eyes→ expand/broaden my horizons 2. That far journey didn’t just open my eyes; it opened my heart to lives and stories no books could capture. Not only did that far journey open my eyes, but it also opened my heart to lives and stories no books could capture. 1】Running my fingers over the rough bricks, I felt centuries of dust come alive. 2】That far journey didn’t just open my eyes; it opened my heart to lives and stories no books could capture.(运用了省略关系代词that/which的定语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 67. After graduating from UCLA as a film-making major, I was brimming with confidence, thinking to myself that I was bound to make a splash in this industry. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Super awkward, I turned around and wanted to drive my Batmobile away. At the sight of my strange behavior, the laughter from these kids faded away all of a sudden. “Is Batman escaping?” asked a child, his voice filled with genuine concern. I found myself rooted to the ground, unable to inch forward. Some awful memories flashed back in front of my eyes, making me feel my blood freeze. My heart was beating painfully fast, and my mind went totally blank. Another child broke the ice by yelling from the top of his lungs, “Batman never escapes!” It was his inspiring words that brought me back to reality, and I eventually gathered up my courage to do what Batman would do. I ran into the party, and they were all clapping their hands for me. Unaffected by my previous move, the birthday boy jumped for joy and threw himself into my arms. I failed to contain my feelings, excitement written all over my face. It struck me that I was the only one bothered by me and my mustache. Feeling on top of the world, I cracked a smile at these little angels and opened my mouth, “Batman’s here! Who wants to fight against bad guys with me?” “Me!” they replied in chorus, and a trace of joy can be noticed in their voices, for which my long-lost confidence found its way back. Cape blowing in the wind, tears welling up in my eyes, I got rid of insecurity and self-doubt lingering in my heart and resolved to stay positive in the face of adversity. 大喊:yell/scream/shout ③.控制情绪:contain one’s feeling/hold back/resist one’s feeling 情绪类 ①.激动:excitement/exhilaration ②.喜悦:joy/delight/cheer 【点睛】[高分句型1].
