ReSpeaker Core v2.0 is a voice control board for smart devices, which can listen to and understand voice commands. The package includes the main ReSpeaker Core v2.0 board, an 8Ω 3W speaker, a 2-Mics Pi HAT, a Micro USB cable, and a guarantee card.
How to Set Up the Hardware?
First, plug the 2-Mics Pi HAT onto the 40-pin GPIO header of the main board. Then connect the speaker to the Pi HAT. Pay attention to polarity: the red wire must be connected to the “+” end. Finally, power on the device using the Micro USB cable connected to a 5V/2A power adapter. The blue LED lights up on startup, and after about 40 seconds it turns green — ready to use.
How to Connect to the Network?
When turned on for the first time, the device will create a hotspot named “ReSpeaker Core-XXXX”. Connect your phone or computer to this hotspot using the password 12345678. Then open a browser (浏览器) and visit http://192.168.100.1 to access the setup page. Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password. The device will restart and connect automatically.
How to Interact with the Device?
Once it’s connected, say “Hello, ReSpeaker” followed by commands like “what time is it?” or “play some music”. For best results, speak clearly within 5 meters of the device in a quiet environment. Always use a stable 5V/2A power supply to avoid instability. If problems persist during interaction, press and hold the onboard button for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly to restore factory settings.
21. What is the first step to connect a ReSpeaker Core v2.0 to your home Wi-Fi?
A. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
B. Open a browser and visit http://192.168.100.1.
C. Connect your phone or computer to the hotspot.
D. Enter the password 12345678 on the setup page.
22. What should you do if the ReSpeaker Core v2.0 keeps having problems?

There must be few occasions when it would be really rude to refuse an invitation to hit someone you’ve just met with your fist! But I’m in one of those right now. I’m in a rehearsal room in a theatre with a group of actors, facing up to stage fighting director Kate Waters. She wants me to hit her with my fist. But fear not, this is all strictly pretend! Kate, known in the industry as Kombat Kate, is giving a lesson on how actors fight each other without getting hurt.
Already a passionate martial arts expert from childhood, Kate did drama at university, and one of her courses introduced her to stage fighting. When she made inquiries about the possibility of teaching it as a career, she was told about the register of stage fight directors and the qualifications she’d need to be accepted into it. It was no small order: as well as a certificate in advanced stage fighting, she would need a black belt in karate (空手道) and skill in fencing, a sport she’d never tried before. But she rose to the challenge and finally successfully became one of only two women on the official register.
Of course, a stage fight is just smoke and mirrors. In our lesson, Kate shows me how an actor will stand with his or her back to the audience ahead of a planned slap (拍). When the slap comes it makes contact not with the skin but with the air: the actor hits his chest or leg to make the sound of the slap.
In the rehearsal room, I can’t resist asking Kate how she thinks she would do in a real fight. Would she give her attacker a hard time? She laughs. “Oh, I’d be awful,” she says. “I only know how to pretend.” I can’t help thinking, however, that she’s just being rather humble.
24. Why does Kate ask the author to hit her?
A. To show actors stage fighting skills.
B. To teach actors to defend themselves.
C. To help actors rehearse an action scene.
D. To attract actors’ interest in martial arts.
25. What was a challenge Kate faced in becoming a stage fight director?
A. She could not find a female teacher. B. She had no prior experience in drama.
C. She had to master an unfamiliar sport. D. She had trouble obtaining a certificate.
26. What do the underlined words “smoke and mirrors” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. A difficult technique. B. A dangerous situation.
C. A well-planned lesson. D. A misleading performance.
27. What does the author imply about Kate’s real fighting ability?
A. She relies a lot on tricks.
B. She may lack confidence in herself.
C. She might be better than she admits.
D. She excels more at performing than fighting.

Ash and sand do not sound like ideal conditions for growing delicious food. Yet in Lanzarote, farmers have developed unique systems to adapt to this environment that is now providing a blueprint for agricultural systems that do well without water.
From 1730 to 1736, more than 30 volcanoes erupted in Lanzarote, burying a quarter of the island under lava (熔岩) and ash, wiping out its most productive farmland. Just a few decades later, drought took hold, a situation that still exists today, with the island receiving rain only about 16 days per year, totalling below 150 millimetres.
People and practices evolved in beautiful and sustainable ways. Through trial and error, they developed a unique agricultural system that continues to feed the island today, largely without irrigation. One of the island’s most distinctive practices is ash-mulch (灰烬覆盖) farming. Farmers cover the soil with a layer of volcanic ash and small stones, which traps drops of water, protects roots and stops the soil drying too fast.
This not only conserves moisture but also adds essential minerals that enrich the soil. Grapes, legumes and sweet potatoes have all been grown in this way. Some farmers also use sand-mulch farming, applying a fine, organic marine sand called jable that is blown onto the island by Atlantic winds. This light sand forms a layer that preserves moisture in the soil below. These traditional farming practices cover over 12,000 hectares of the island, enabling the production of wine, fruits, and legumes in one of the driest regions of Europe.
In May 2025, Lanzarote’s agricultural system was recognised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), celebrating the island’s biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices, as well as its contribution to food and livelihood security. FAO has a network of more than 100 unique agricultural systems in 29 countries — from the erva-mate agroforests of Brazil and ancestral terraces (梯田) in Mexico to traditional pear farms and white tea growing in China. These systems are safeguarding traditional knowledge, supporting biodiversity and helping rural communities do well under the pressure of climate change.
28. What does paragraph 2 mainly discuss about Lanzarote?
A. Volcanic eruptions. B. Organic farming.
C. Productive farmland. D. Agricultural challenges.
29. What does the underlined word “This” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The reduction of water supply. B. The way of sand-mulch farming.
C. The practice of ash-mulch farming. D. The conservation of diverse plants.
30. What does the example of white tea growing in China imply?
A. The economic benefits of white tea.
B. The global diversity of agricultural systems.
C. China’s leadership in agricultural heritage.
D. Innovation in modern agricultural technology.
31. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To describe Lanzarote’s farming history. B. To teach dry-climate farming methods.
C. To introduce a farming model. D. To define eco-agriculture concepts.

A video of a lifelike robot released by a Chinese robotics company shows the robot’s head blinks, nods, and looks around in a convincing imitation of a real human face. The head, created by AheadForm, might find use in research on human-robot interactions or in various industries, including customer service and entertainment.
Founded in 2024, AheadForm aims to make interactions between humans and robots feel more natural and engaging, according to the company’s website. The company hopes to integrate AI systems such as large language models (LLMs) with realistic robotic heads so that robots can understand and respond to people in real time.
“Our current focus is on creating sophisticated (先进的) humanoid robot heads that can express emotions, perceive their environment, and interact smoothly with humans,” a company representative said on the website.
AheadForm has produced multiple series of robot forms, including its “Elf” line of pointy-eared figures with precise control systems and a more human-looking “Lan Series” of bots designed to prioritize cost-efficiency and intuitive movements.
In building a robotic head that can integrate with AI, the company aims to make robots more approachable and relatable. That could be useful for industries such as customer service, education, and healthcare, “where building trust with human users is essential,” according to the website.
Researchers from AheadForm are already working on how this might play out. In a 2024 study published in the journal Science Robotics, AheadForm founder Yuhang Hu and his colleagues designed a robot that could analyze, predict, and mimic human facial expressions in real time.
To achieve the subtle, precise facial movements in the video, AheadForm uses brushless motors. These tiny devices run quietly and work together to create the lifelike twitches and glances that make the head seem realistic. Inside this particular model, the Origin M1, there are up to 25 tiny motors that control the head’s expressions. The bot also has cameras in its pupils to help it “see” its environment, along with built-in speakers and microphones it can use to interact with users on the fly.
32. What do we know about the robot in the video?
A. It has been widely used in various industries.
B. It is designed by an international robotics company.
C. It can function better than human in certain aspects.
D. It has the potential to promote human-robot interactions.
33. What does AheadForm center on at present?
A. Developing advanced robots that entertain people.
B. Designing robots that fit in with their surroundings.
C. Producing robots with flexible and lifelike heads.
D. Combining AI with their existing robot models.
34. Why does the author mention a robot designed by Yuhang Hu and his colleagues?
A. To illustrate the usage of the robot.
B. To demonstrate the robot’s ability to communicate.
C. To show AheadForm’s progress in robotic research.
D. To highlight the founder’s remarkable achievements.
35. Which of the following would be the best title?
A. The Latest Development in Robot Research
B. New Robots Use AI to Interact with Human Beings
C. Chinese Tech Company Develops a Lifelike Robot Head
D. Advanced Humanoid Robots Are Widely Used in Various Fields

A Seattle-area raccoon(浣熊) with a shortened spine(脊柱) has become one of the Internet’s most celebrated animals. Videos of Jimothy balancing on backyard fences and going about his nightly routine have gained millions of views. His popularity makes sense. 36 . But what if our emotional investment in the life of a wild raccoon had less to do with Jimothy himself and more to do with what he awakens inside of us?
37 . We spend our days in environments shaped entirely for people, created by people. Our screens and daily lives mostly reflect us to ourselves. However, something essential is lost when our lives become like that. 38 . Encounters with wild animals de-center humans in a way that is both fascinating and expansive. Jimothy’s presence pulls us out of our own world and reminds us that we are fellow creatures existing within an ecosystem.
Perhaps what draws us to Jimothy is not only his intriguing way of navigating urban life as a uniquely shaped raccoon, but the recognition that we ourselves have become disconnected from the natural world in the digital age. 39 . Ecological identity is the part of our personal identities formed through relationships with landscapes, plants and animals. Recognizing that our identities extend beyond the borders of our skin and mind to include the natural world around us helps us to experience a sense of belonging. Our consciousness of our neighborhoods shifts from houses to ecosystems. Families of birds live in the trees, their lives unfolding in parallel with our own. 40 .
A. We exist as members of a larger web of life
B. Modern life has become almost human-centric
C. Our living environment has changed dramatically
D. Animals with cute appearance always capture our hearts
E. People are wired to interact with what we call wild otherness
F. He’s adorable and easy to recognize with his unique body shape
G. Seeing videos of Jimothy awakens our inner child who explored nature with wonder

Steve was the most amazing person in all of Minneapolis, and he was my cousin. By the age of 19, Steve was a star baseball player at the University of Minnesota. I wanted to be exactly like him. So when Steve asked me to go with him on a spring fishing trip in northern Minnesota, I was excited!
After planning the trip, we gathered clothes and supplies, and began our great adventure. We reached the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota by early evening. On our way to the campsite, Steve pointed to a small house faraway in one of the mountains, saying that it was the ranger station (护林站) where the forester worked.
Finally, after a long walk, we reached the campsite and set up the camp as the sun was setting. Steve knew all the tricks of an experienced wilderness camper. After we gathered enough wood from the forest, he started the campfire using only stone and steel—no matches. For supper we feasted on freeze-dried beef, wild rice and pea soup. I ate greedily after all that work.
Tired enough, we climbed into our sleeping bags early and talked about our plans for fishing the next day. We were still talking quietly when a sudden north wind picked up; the temperature dropped and it began to snow. Steve found a way to increase the temperature inside the tent. He dragged a log (原木) from the forest to the opposite side of the campfire. Then he wrapped aluminum foil (铝箔) around the log. The heat from the fire reflected off the foil and into the tent. Soon images of lake fish were filling my dreams.
The snow had stopped, but sometime later a powerful wind must have kicked up the flames of our dying fire. I was abruptly awakened by Steve. Our tent was on fire. Frightened, I ran out of the tent immediately. The tent collapsed (倒塌) with Steve inside. Without any thought of endangering myself, I reached into the burning tent and pulled him to the icy lake. Fortunately, we were not seriously hurt.

A Beautiful Sound in Life
Sounds carry significant importance in our daily life. Personally, what strikes me most is the sound of reading aloud.
First and foremost, this sound implies the cultural roots that thrive deep in our hearts. Reading classical literary works aloud reflects an unparalleled love for traditional culture and lights the torches of cultural confidence, arousing emotional echoes that resonate with the whole body and mind. Besides, the sound is an indicator of enduring knowledge and profound philosophy, helping us achieve understanding beyond time’s boundaries, and leaving deep impressions on our hearts. Far more than just a sound, it is a quiet force that shapes my thoughts and nourishes my soul.
To be frank, I recognize the sound of reading as a melody to my ears. What is your most beautiful sound in life?
Paragraph 1:
Later, as we stood by the burning tent to keep warm, we considered our difficult situation. Deep in the forest, far from the highway, we were in the middle of nowhere. All our supplies, including our cellphones, had been burnt into ashes. Thick darkness blanketed the woods, wrapping us in heavy silence. As bitter cold cut through our light clothing, panic gradually came over us. Various terrible thoughts crowded in on our minds: we might be eaten by beasts, or be starved to death, or even die of the coldness? Steve tried hard to stay calm, yet neither of us knew which path to take. We had no alternative but to wait helplessly, wondering whether we could survive the freezing night.
Paragraph 2:
Suddenly, we heard a noise in the forest. Anxiously, we held our breath, listening carefully and staring nervously into the endless darkness. To our great relief, a jeep gradually came into sight. It was a kind forest keeper, who had spotted the light from our fire and rushed over to check on us. Braving the biting cold night, he went to any lengths to rescue us. He took us to the warm ranger station, offered us dry clothes and steaming hot food, and helped us get in touch with our worried parents. This unforgettable experience completely changed my attitude towards nature. I truly realized that humans are tiny compared with mighty nature, so we should always respect nature and live in harmony with it.(敬畏自然)
Another version:
Suddenly, we heard a noise in the forest. Anxiously we listened and stared into the pitch-black darkness. Fortune favored us as a jeep came into sight. A forester had spotted our campfire light and came to check. It was exactly at the most desperate moment that help arrived. With eyes sparkling with expectation, we jumped into the warm vehicle to the ranger station, where we got dry clothes and called our parents. Ordinary as the forester was, he did extraordinary things, showing great kindness to us helpless teenagers. Steve and I had more camping adventures afterwards. Yet it was this shared frightening experience that made Steve treat me as a friend and equal instead of a younger cousin. Going through hardship together bonded us tightly, and our friendship continues to this day.(情谊升华)

解析:根据“How to Connect to the Network?”
解析:根据最后一段“If problems persist ,... restore factory settings.”
故选A。
解析:最后一段中Kate说自己真实打斗能力“会很糟糕”“只会假装”,但作者说“I can’t help thinking, however, that she’s just being rather humble”,即作者认为她只是谦虚,暗示她实际打斗能力可能比她承认的更好。
根据第三段中“One of the island’s most distinctive practices... stops the soil drying too fast.( 其中最具特色的实践之一是“火山灰覆盖法”。

解析:本段后文说“We spend our days in environments shaped entirely for people, created by people. Our screens and daily lives mostly reflect us to ourselves.” B项“Modern life has become almost human-centric”正好概括本段主旨。故选B。
解析:前句说“something essential is lost”,后句说“Encounters with wild animals de-center humans...”,说明人本来就需要与野生自然他者接触。E项“People are wired to interact with what we call wild otherness”解释了这种“essential”是什么。故选E。
解析:前句提到Jimothy吸引我们,是因为我们意识到自己在数字时代与自然脱节;G项“Seeing videos of Jimothy awakens our inner child who explored nature with wonder”承接这一话题,并引出后文“Ecological identity”的讨论。故选G。
故选A。

W: Okay, I’m done. Let’s get back to the car. Could you carry these shopping bags?
Text 5 M: Don’t worry, it’s just 3:20. We still have a little time.
W: I am afraid that your watch is 20 minutes slow. The film will begin in 10 minutes.
Text 6 M: I’m thinking about getting a motorcycle.
W: Are you crazy? Drop the idea.
M: I’ll be careful and I can take you for a ride on my motorcycle.
W: Nice try, but I’m not going to say yes anytime soon.

M: I went last weekend with some of our classmates. Absolutely mind-blowing.
W: Oh yeah, tell me everything.
M: I mean I’m no art expert but seeing them in person was wild. It is nothing like seeing them in a textbook. The colors and details were just unreal. There is so much going on but so little clear detail. You can totally tell how much hard work went into them.
W: Wow. Now I really want to go.
M: And you know what? It wasn’t crowded, so the whole experience was superb.
W: Amazing. Why not recommend it in our art class?

W: We really can’t ask him to stop having clients come in, can we?
M: No, of course not. But you are not able to do your work and neither am I. I imagine it’s the same for the other colleagues in the office.
W: Hmm. Could we arrange a meeting room for him? You know, there’s a room down the hall.
M: You mean that little storage room? Oh, that would be too small.
W: Anyway, let’s go over and check it out first.
Text 9 M: What do you think of my new sweater, Tracy?
W: Well, it looks good on you, but you don’t seem to wear this style very often.
M: I know. I tried on about 20. Actually, this one isn’t really what I wanted.
W: Why did you buy it then?
M: The salesman sold it to me before I realized what had happened. He just never stopped talking and he told me some stories about the latest fashion and special discounts. Before I could say anything, he’d wrapped it up and taken my money.
W: Well, it doesn’t look too bad.
M: But I went out to get a blue sweater with a V-neck and short sleeves, and I came home with a brown one with a high neck and long sleeves.
W: You must be easily taken in; you’ve got to learn to stand up to these high-pressure salesmen. They’ll sell you all sorts of things you don't want if you don’t watch out.
M: Next time I’ll send my wife in. She won’t fall for their fancy words easily.
Text 10 M: The 2026 World Cup match ball TRIONDA has three colors representing the host countries: US, Mexico and Canada. It is made in Shenzhen, China. You might think the ball is just an ordinary football, right? It’s actually special, packed with high-tech features you’d never expect. First, it has a smart sensor that records the ball’s movement data in real time so fast decisions can be made and even the tiniest offside or handball won’t escape notice. It requires 90 minutes of charging before each use to power its smart functions. Second, designers created a new surface that maintains stability at high speeds. Even when kicked with great force, the ball follows a smooth, accurate path. This isn’t just a football; it’s a perfect example of how technology transforms the game.
