Born in 1991 in Guilin, Guangxi, she got her bachelor's degree (学士学位) from Peking University. In July, 2026, the 35-year-old woman won the Fields Medal. People call it "the Nobel Prize in Math". She is the third woman in history to get this top prize, and also the first Chinese-language winner of the Fields Medal. Wang's path to mathematical greatness was not a straight line. When she studied at Peking University, she was not always the best student. Sometimes she spent weeks on one hard problem but still failed. However, she never gave up. She kept reading papers, discussing ideas with partners and thinking day and night. Together with her workmate Joshua Zahl, Wang solved the famous three-dimensional Kakeya conjecture (三维卡克雅猜想). This difficult problem had troubled world-famous mathematicians for more than one hundred years. To finish the research, they checked their work again and again to make sure there were no mistakes. Wang hopes to inspire more young women to enter STEM fields. She also hopes more young Chinese students can fall in love with science. She says fame does not change her life. Most of her time is still spent thinking about math problems. "Keep trying when you meet difficulties. Hard work can make a big difference," she tells teenagers. Her story proves that with curiosity, determination, and the courage to follow your passion, even the most difficult problems can be solved. 51.What can we learn from Paragraph 2? A. Wang Hong: An Example for Teenagers D. How to Become a Woman Scientist C "The road to Shu is difficult, even more difficult than climbing to the blue sky," as Li Bai's poem goes. For over two thousand years, the ancient road system has been a treasure of Chinese culture. But for American scholar Hope Justman, it is even more than that. She sees it as a living record of history worthy of UNESCO World Heritage status (世界遗产称号). She visited an exhibition in Boston when she was in college, where a painting drew her attention. Huge mountains, thick trees, and mountain streams made that painting look deep and amazing, with a certain sense of mystery (神秘). Intrigued by the mystery, Justman's journey with the Shu Road system began in 2001. Since then, she has hiked the "greatest road" in China 24 times in 24 years. "It is a timeless experience for me," she says. She can't forget walking on the ancient flagstones under the shade of the centuries-old cypresses (柏树). In 2007, Justman published (出版) her book, Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu. She still remembers the biggest challenge in writing it: finding the real road. When she finally found a section of the road system with the help of the locals, she was very excited. That gave her hope that "more sections of the road to Shu might have survived (留存)." Justman believes that readers will find her book very helpful, as most of them do not know the ancient road still exists and can be hiked for many hours. In October this year, the Chinese version of her book was published. The Three Kingdoms period is Justman's favorite part of the road's history. Many of the battles between Shu and Wei took place here. Many towns along the road still have temples to honor the heroes of that time. Justman's love for the ancient road system never fades (褪色), and she is pleased to see that China has worked hard to protect it. Big projects have been carried out to improve its condition. For example, broken stones have been fixed and benches (长椅) have been added for hikers. But this raises an interesting question. Li Bai and Du Fu described in their poems how dangerous it could be to travel along the road. But if both great poets were alive today, would they be inspired to write any new poems? Justman says, "No." 56.What is Shu Road like in Hope Justman's eyes? A. Just one place in Li Bai's poem. B. An amazing living history record. C. A place too hard to hike. D. A nice and modern road system. 57.How many times has Justman hiked the "greatest road" in China in 24 years? A. 24 times. B. 20 times. C. 2007 times. D. 2024 times. 58.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? A. The source of inspiration. B. The influence of the book on readers. C. The difficulties in publishing. D. The process and challenges in writing. 59.Put the following events in the correct order. a. Justman visited an exhibition in Boston. b. Justman published the Chinese version of her book. c. Justman began her journey with the Shu Road system. d. Justman published her book Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu. A. c-a-d-b B. a-d-c-b C. a-c-d-b D. c-d-a-b 60.Why does Justman say "No" at the end of the article? A. Because Shu Road system needs to be rebuilt. B. Because Shu Road system has lost its historical value. C. Because Shu Road system is not as dangerous as it used to. D. Because the protection project destroyed the beauty of the road. D For years, people in Auki (奥基), a town in Solomon Islands (所罗门群岛), faced a dangerous problem. The main road along the steep (陡峭的) hillside was always at risk of landslides and soil erosion. Local people worried about their safety every time they travelled. In 2025, a Chinese company, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), began to help solve this problem. It was part of the China-aid Auki Road Project. The retaining wall (挡土墙) was built with nearly 1,000 cubic metres of concrete (混凝土). It protects the road from the natural pressures of the hillside. Chinese engineers worked closely with local workers during the construction. "This partnership shows how international expertise and local labour can work together," said a project leader. The project not only improved road safety but also created jobs and skill-building chances for local people. They said the road is now much safer and more reliable for daily travel. Before the project, heavy rain often caused rocks to fall. Now, the retaining wall makes the road strong and stable. It can withstand (经受住) difficult weather and difficult terrain (地形) in the years ahead. As a Chinese saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." This project is one important step in China's efforts to help other countries. It is not just a road—it is a symbol of friendship and shared development. 61.What was the main problem for people in Auki before the project? A. The road was too narrow for cars. B. The hillside road was dangerous. C. There was no bridge over the river. D. Local workers had no jobs. 62.What did CCECC build to solve the problem? A. A new bridge. B. A railway line. C. A tunnel through the hill. D. A concrete retaining wall. 63.What do the underlined words "This partnership" in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. The cooperation between China and Solomon Islands. B. The friendship between two companies. C. The agreement between two governments. D. The trade between two countries. 64.What did local people think of the project? A. They thought it cost too much. B. They thought it was unhelpful. C. They thought it was useful. D. They thought it was unnecessary. 65.What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To encourage people to visit Auki. B. To explain how to build a road on a hill. C. To introduce a China-aid project and its value. D. To describe the geography of Solomon Islands. 第二节 阅读下面短文,从短文后所给的五个选项中选出能填入短文空白处的最佳选项,使短文通顺、连贯,意思完整。(每小题1分,满分5分) E Saving money is a good habit. _66_ It helps you learn to plan for the future.
