As I walked into the primary school,I looked down at my new black shoes.I stood at Mrs.Blackstone's door. Before
I tried the great escape, the door opened."We've been waiting for you!"Mrs.Blackstone,my new fifth grade teacher, said
loudly. With a smile my mom walked away and I was left taking center stage in front of a group of students.
Over the next few days,Mrs.Blackstone made it her job to find me a new best friend.During history lessons, when
I didn't want to speak in front of the class, she'd not only call on me but have me stand up to say something to my
classmates.
One spring afternoon,Mrs.Blackstone asked me to stay after class."I'd like to speak with you,Amanda."My mind
raced.Had I got a bad grade?Had I hurt anyone's feelings?"Are you enjoying your new school?"She sat comfortably
behind her desk."I want to tell you something, between you and me,not to be shared with anyone else."She continued,
"I see something special in you.The way you communicate with others, and the kindness you show-I think you have
great potential to be something important."I listened carefully to every word."I have been a teacher for over twenty-five
years;I can see it.But you must believe in yourself. That's very important.Remember that and you'll go far,"she said.
Her voice was music to my ears that day.I walked out of her office, not staring at my shoes, but looking straight
ahead with my head high.My teacher saw something special in me!Years later, her words still remain inside of me.

My studies once showed that students perform better when they take notes by hand than when they use laptops.
Before I knew it,those studies were used as good reasons for laptop bans (in classrooms in the U.S.I received a lot
of emails blaming()me for such ideas. The fact is that I don't actually support laptop bans, and never have.In fact,I
don't even ban laptops in my own classes.
In the research,we asked students to watch TED Talks and had them take notes either on laptops or with a pen and
paper.Students using laptops recorded the talks nearly with every word, while students who took handwritten notes could
not;they just took notes in their own words.Writing by hand required students to understand and summarize the talk. And
deeper processing()of the information led to improved learning. As a result, students in this case get higher points
on tests.
My findings came out.Teachers around the country soon started banning laptops in their classes. But they didn't
know what actually made learning difficult was the mindless recording of a lecture.Laptops just allowed students to take
notes more quickly.
Like most technology, laptops are not universally helpful or harmful in class.Whether they are helpful or harmful
depends on the aim.The value of a laptop in the classroom depends on the goal of a lesson plan, the nature of the text, the
kind of students being taught,etc.
So can laptops be used in the classroom? If a lesson requires exact quotes, then laptops are excellent. But if the goal
is conceptual (understanding, they will produce the exactly opposite results.Don't forget the situation when
deciding whether or not to allow laptops in your class. All in all,the answer to the question is that it depends.
28.Why did the author receive many blaming emails?
A.He banned laptops in classes.
B.His studies supported laptop bans.
C.His research results let people down.
D.Schools used his studies to ban laptops.
29.What was the key difference between laptop notes and handwritten notes in the research?
A.Laptop notes were much more detailed.
B.Handwritten notes bettered thinking ability.
C.Handwritten notes recorded every word in need.
D.Laptop notes were written in students'own words.
30.What did the author think made learning difficult in the case of laptop use?
A.The technology of laptops itself.
B.Students'improper use of laptops.
C.The speed of taking notes with laptops.
D.The design of lesson plans for laptop users.
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Handwritten notes are better for students'learning than laptop notes.
B.Laptop bans in classrooms are unreasonable and should be prohibited.
C.The use of laptops in classrooms should be decided based on situations.
D.Research on note-taking methods helps improve teaching achievements.

I often catch myself asking my questions to AI chatbots with a "please"and a"thank you."Apparently,I am not
第4页/共8页
alone.A 2024 survey found that approximately 67%of U.S.AI users are also polite and show gratitude toward AI search
engines. Some even joked about the cost:if every polite word consumes electricity, the bill must be high.OpenAI's CEO
Sam Altman replied:"Tens of millions of dollars well spent-you never know."
In reality,of course,AI chatbots do not appreciate politeness;they lack consciousness, feelings or social needs.
From a purely utilitarian(功利主义的)standpoint,.all those pleases and thank yous are just flushing money down the
toilet.
Still, there may be value that isn't immediately measurable in showing gratitude toward AI.Psychologists Robert
Emmons and Michael McCullough carried out an experiment in which they divided participants into three groups, asking
the first to list things they are grateful for, while others listed daily troubles or simply kept journals. After 10 weeks, they
found that the first group reported 25%higher happiness levels, stronger inner strength and even better physical health.
What's true of gratitude is also true of kindness and generosity more generally.Experiments at UC Riverside found
that performing"five small acts of kindness per week"produced steady increases in happiness. This idea isn't new.The
medieval thinker Maimonides wrote that"it is better for a person to give one coin to a thousand poor people than to give
a thousand coins to one poor person."He believed that regular acts of goodness, like giving charity and expressing gratitude,
make us happier in the long run by turning virtue into a habit.
So perhaps all of our pleases and thank yous to AI have value, even if they cost OpenAI millions of dollars annually.
Showing appreciation, even toward a machine, reinforces positive habits of politeness, patience and empathy ()In
our increasingly digital and automated world, preserving these human qualities may be more valuable than the cost of a
little extra electricity.Ultimately, the beneficiary of our politeness isn't the AI at all,but ourselves.
32.How does the author introduce the topic in paragraph 1?
A.By quoting an expert.
B.By telling a story.
C.By presenting a phenomenon.
D.By defining a concept.
33.What value of gratitude does the experiment in paragraph 3 show?
A.It strengthens our bodies and minds.
B.It reduces daily stress levels.
C.It improves memory and creativity.
D.It deepens social relationships.
34.What does Maimonides'words mainly stress?
A.We should show goodness on important festivals.
B.One large donation can help more poor people.
C.We ought to give money to those in need around us.
D.Small and frequent good deeds matter more.
35.What message does the author mainly convey in the text?
A.Politeness to AI wastes electricity bills.
B.Politeness benefits humans rather than Al.
C.AI improves the quality of human life.
D.AI learns empathy from human behavior.

It was a rainy Tuesday afternoon.Li Ming,a freshman in senior high school, sat alone in the empty classroom,
staring at the test paper on his desk. The red marks on it seemed to be laughing at him.52 out of 150.It was his third math
test in a month, and his third failure.
He thought about his middle school days, when he used to be one of the top students in his class. His teachers always
praised him,and his parents often showed off his grades to their friends. But now, everything had changed.
Li Ming put his head down on the desk and closed his eyes.He remembered how excited he had been on the first
day of high school. He had promised his mother that he would study hard and get into a good university. But now, that
promise felt like a joke.Maybe he was just not smart enough for high school.Maybe he should give up his dream of
becoming an engineer.
Just then, the classroom door opened. It was Mr.Zhang, his math teacher.Mr.Zhang was a kind man in his fifties,
with glasses and a warm smile. He walked over to Li Ming and sat down beside him.
"I saw your paper,Li Ming,"Mr.Zhang said softly."Do you want to tell me what's going on?"
Li Ming hesitated for a moment. Then, all his feelings came out like a flood. He told Mr.Zhang about his frustration,
his fear of falling behind, and how he had lost all his confidence.
Mr.Zhang listened patiently.When Li Ming finished,Mr.Zhang said,"Let me tell you a secret.When I was your
age,I failed my math test too.In fact,I failed three times in a row."
Li Ming looked up in surprise."Really? But you are a math teacher now!"
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Mr.Zhang smiled and took out an old, yellow notebook from his bag.
From that day on,Li Ming did something different every day after school.
