二、阅读理解(20小题,每小题2分,共40分)
阅读下面四篇语言材料,然后按文后要求做题。
A
Our world is changing fast with the support of the government and technology. New wide roads, rich farmland and digital life appear in villages. All these new changes greatly improve villagers’ lives in poor areas.
Transport makes traveling much easier than years ago. We have highways, long railways and convenient transport. They connect small villages with big cities. Information and farm products travel much faster now. Farmers can send their crops (庄稼) and vegetables to the whole country with ease.
Environmental improvement fights natural disasters. People plant trees on sandy (沙质的) ground to stop sandstorms (沙尘暴). The poor soil becomes good enough for farmland. More farmland brings more chances for local farmers. Villagers no longer worry about farmland shortage (短缺).
Digital life comes to the countryside. E-payment and online business change traditional shopping ways. People can sell their local products to customers around the world. More young managers come back to start their own business in their hometowns.
Fast business development also brings some serious pollution. Modern development brings environmental problems. We should protect our soil and natural environment while creating social wonders.

My name is Chen Wei. I have been a volunteer for an environmental protection organization for three years. During this time, I have participated in many activities aimed (目的) at protecting the environment. Today, I want to share one of my most meaningful experiences with you.
Last summer, I joined an activity with my neighbors. Our team organized a river clean-up activity in my hometown. The river used to be clean and clear when I was a child. However, in recent years, it has become heavily polluted. People had been throwing rubbish and pouring wastewater into it for a long time. The water turned dark and smelly, and the fish disappeared. The local community worried about the situation and wanted to do something to help.
On the day of the activity, more than fifty volunteers came together. We spent the whole morning cleaning up the riverbanks. We collected plastic bottles, bags, and all kinds of trash. Some volunteers even used nets to move floating (漂浮的) rubbish from the water. By the end of the day, we had collected 15 bags of waste. It was hard work, but we all felt very proud.
Since that day, the community has taken better care of the river. It has set up some rules to stop people from throwing rubbish into the river and put up posters in the community. It has also organized clean-up activities regularly (定期地). Now, the water is much cleaner and people can see fish swimming in it again. This experience taught me that small actions can make a big difference.

Do you know Linfen? Have you ever been there? It has changed a lot in the past few years. In the 1990s, Linfen, a city in Shanxi Province, was famous for its heavy coal industry. The air was often gray with coal dust, and people hardly saw a clear blue sky. In 2004, it was named one of the most polluted cities in the world.
Today, 22 years later, Linfen looks completely different. Over the past ten years, the city has closed hundreds of outdated (过时的) coal mines and planted more than 100 million trees on the hills around the city. The local government has also built 12 new parks in the city center. In 2025, Linfen had 321 days of good air quality, the highest number in its history.
Last summer, 14-year-old Li Jia from Beijing visited her grandma in Linfen. Li Jia told 21st Century Teens, “I was surprised when I first arrived. My mom said when she was young, she couldn’t hang out after 8:00 p. m. because people could hardly see the streets. Now the parks are full of people dancing and walking every night.”
Many former (以前的) coal workers have also found new jobs in tourism and green energy. 45-year-old Wang Gang used to work in a coal mine. Now he works as a tour guide at a former coal mine that has been turned into a tourist park. “I make more money than before, and I don’t have to breathe coal dust every day,” he said. “Life is much better now.”
Linfen is still changing. By 2030, the city plans to finish its transition (过渡) to a 100% green energy economy.

【答案】
Going Green Starts with Small Things
Going green sounds like a big task, but in fact, it begins with small actions in our daily lives.
For green life, we should save water and electricity in our daily life. It’s also a good idea to reuse cloth bags instead of plastic ones while shopping. As for green traffic, we can choose to ride bikes or walk for short journeys. If the place is far away, taking public transport is a wise choice. To build our green homeland, we are supposed to plant more trees and refuse to litter anywhere.
I hope everyone can take these small steps. Never look down on tiny efforts, for small actions will make a big difference to our earth.
