拓展阅读(课内同源 + 课外同源)
Passage 1(课内同源:Living by the laws of nature)
People have lived with nature for thousands of years. Long ago, farmers did not have weather apps or machines. They watched the sky, the wind and the plants, and they learnt the laws of nature by heart.
The 24 Solar Terms are a good example. They tell farmers what to do at different times of the year. For example, they show farmers when to plant the wheat and when to harvest it. They also help people understand why things happen at certain times, and how they should react. This is why the terms are still useful today.
Another example is the karez system in Xinjiang. Turpan is one of the hottest and driest places in China. People there wondered how they could grow food in such a dry place. The answer was the karez system: it carries water from the mountains through underground canals, so the water stays cool and safe from the desert heat.
These examples show us something important. If we understand what nature is telling us and how it works, we can live in it more safely. Living with nature does not mean doing nothing; it means using our wisdom to work with the laws of nature.

Passage 2(课外同源:Rice and fish in the same field)
In Qingtian, a small town in Zhejiang Province, farmers have a special way of growing food. They put baby fish into their rice fields. The fish and the rice grow together, and both of them do better.
How does it work? The fish eat insects and small weeds that would hurt the rice. In return, the fish waste becomes food for the rice plants. Because the fish keep the water moving, more air gets into it, and the rice grows stronger. Farmers do not need to use so many chemicals, so the water and the soil stay clean.
This clever system is over 1,000 years old. In 2005, it was named an important farming heritage (农业遗产) by the United Nations. Scientists say it is a good example of how people can make use of nature without hurting it.
"Rice and fish help each other," a farmer says. "Nobody is the boss here. We just follow what nature already does, and nature gives us more in return."

任务四范文:People have found out how to make good use of natural resources. In Turpan, people wondered how they could grow food in such a dry place. They found out that they could build the karez system to carry water from the mountains through underground canals. This explains why the water stays cool in the desert heat. Farmers also understand when to plant and when to harvest by following the 24 Solar Terms. In Qingtian, people know that rice and fish can help each other, so they put fish into their rice fields. I think these examples show us the laws of nature. If we understand how nature works, we can live with it in a better way.
