Dear classmates, as we all know, there are differences between Chinese and Western culture. Here I’d like to introduce different eating culture to you.
In China, people use chopsticks to enjoy rice, noodles and dumplings. For table manners, we let the elder eat first to show respect. Besides, it is rude to stick chopsticks vertically into rice or tap bowls with chopsticks. However, Westerners eat with forks and knives. Their main food includes bread, pizza and hamburgers. Remember not to wave knives or forks while eating at the table.
In my opinion, every culture is valuable and unique. We should understand differences and respect various customs actively. Let’s embrace the colorful world together and learn from each other.

In Britain, people don’t put their hands or arms on the table during the meal. But in Mexico, guests keep their hands on the table all the time. In fact, you should watch what your hands do very carefully. In Arab countries, it is impolite when you eat with your left hand, so don’t do it!
In Ukraine you should not start eating first; you should wait for all the others to start eating with you. You also have to say “please” and “thank you” every time you ask for and get something. If you don’t like some food, don’t make faces and don’t say: “Yuk! I hate that!”
In all the cultures it is impolite to speak when you are eating. The best way to avoid making mistakes in other countries is to watch the host and try to do as he does.

根据后文“at a Chinese wedding, where the guests usually give the red packets to the attendants...open the packets at once”可知,在春节或生日场合,红包不应当面“打开”,因此用“open”。
“his”(他的)、“your”(你的)、“our”(我们的)均指代错误。
空格前有“the”,后有“your relationship is”,需填比较级构成“the + 比较级,the + 比较级”结构;与后文“more money is expected”形成正比关系,因此用“closer”(更亲近的)。
根据后文“Folding the money or giving dirty or wrinkled bills is in bad taste.”

Here’s how to be polite in some different countries.
When you meet Japanese people, make sure that you bow lower than they do upon meeting them. Accept gifts with both hands, and open them later (not in front of the giver). 32 For the Japanese, it’s better to hint (暗示) instead of asking, and to answer with vagueness (含糊) during conversation.
33 For example, if someone pours you tea or offers you a gift, you should express your thanks. When you receive a gift, take it with both hands. And if someone talks about your weight or looks, try not to think it impolite. It’s just an observation (观察) on their part.
You’d better say “please” and “thank you” often in France. Always thank people for their time. If you’ve been offered help at a shop, be sure to thank the staff before you leave. Make sure that you eat with your mouth closed during meals. 34
If you go on a trip in Korea, never touch a Korean person while talking to him/ her unless you’re on very friendly terms. Remember to keep a certain distance during talks because personal space is very important there.
It may not be easy to remember all the customs. 35

And also in Japan you don’t have to worry about making a noise when you drink it. It just shows that you really like the food! But it is not the same in Britain, so you shouldn’t make a noise when eating there.
