Overtourism Is For Real: How Can You Help?
Travel promotes understanding, expands our minds, makes us better people, and boosts local economies and communities, but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in certain regions and destinations. 1 Certainly not. The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today’s world. Here are some tips on making wise decisions to minimize pressure on the places we visit and improve our experience.
●Choose mindfully. Overvisited destinations are that way for a reason: they’re special. With so many online posts featuring the same places, it’s easy to feel like you’re missing out. Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you. 2
●Get creative. The best way to ease pressure on over-touristed destinations is to go somewhere else. Though overtourism is described as a problem affecting the entire world, it’s actually concentrated to a small number of extremely popular spots. That means you have tons of less-visited options to choose from. 3 Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination’s lesser-known sights?
● 4 Minimize impact and maximize experience by skipping major holidays or rush hour. You’ll compete with fewer tourists, save money, experience a different side of a popular place, and boost the economy when tourism is traditionally slower.
Visiting a place that others call home is a privilege (荣幸). Do your part to preserve what makes a destination special in the first place. 5 You may be amazed how much closer you’ll feel to the people there.
A.Visit during off-peak times.
B.So, should we stop traveling?
C.Travel for you and no one else.
D.Can overtourism be avoided then?
E.You can still find relatively undiscovered places.
F.You’ll find yourself virtually alone, or close to it.
G.Consider giving back to the communities you’re visiting.
If anyone had told me three years ago that I would be spending most of my weekends camping, I would have laughed heartily. Campers, in my eyes, were people who enjoyed insect bites, ill-cooked meals, and uncomfortable sleeping bags. They had nothing in common with me. 1
The friends who introduced me to camping thought that it meant to be a pioneer. 2 We slept in a tent, cooked over an open fire, and walked a long distance to take the shower and use the bathroom. This brief visit with Mother Nature cost me two days off from work, recovering from a bad case of sunburn and the doctor’s bill for my son’s food poisoning.
I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another fun-filled holiday in the wilderness. 3 Instead, we had a pop-up camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My nature-loving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.
4 We have done a lot of it since. Recently, we bought a twenty-eight-foot travel trailer complete with a bathroom and a built-in TV set. There is a separate bedroom, a modern kitchen with a refrigerator. The trailer even has matching carpet and curtains.
5 It must be true that sooner or later, everyone finds his or her way back to nature. I recommend that you find your way in style.
A.This time there was no tent.
B.Things are going to be improved.
C.The trip they took me on was a rough one.
D.I was to learn a lot about camping since then, however.
E.I must say that I have certainly come to enjoy camping.
F.After the trip, my family became quite interested in camping.
G.There was no shade as the trees were no more than 3 feet tall.
有时会出现下列衔接词汇或短语结构:first, second, then, next, later, soon, so, but, however, additionally, what's more, that is, namely, in other words, for one thing... for another等。

1.(2027·重庆市第十一中学校教育集团高第二次质量检测)In my mid-twenties, I boarded a plane to Istanbul with a vague unease I was too embarrassed to name. My thoughts about the city had been shaped by what I saw in the news and heard from others: crowded streets, unfriendly locals, strange customs. Stepping out of the airport, I waited for the discomfort to settle. 1 Instead, I found shopkeepers offering tea to strangers, teenagers practicing English while playing games, and a grandmother motioning me to join her family’s dinner simply because I looked lost. 2
Psychologist Gordon Allport’s “contact theory” explains this. He said that when people from different groups meet as equals and work toward common goals, prejudice can break down. In my case, a local and I tried together to read a broken public transit map. 3 Small moments like these change us. Watching a grandmother buy vegetables in a Moroccan market, or listening to a taxi driver in Hanoi talk about his daughter’s college dreams — these moments turn strangers into real people. The “foreigner” stops being an idea and becomes a neighbor. As one traveler once said, “The more we travel authentically, the more we see our shared human experiences.”
4 If you stay inside a resort and never talk to locals, you might actually keep your old prejudices. Travel does not always make things better right away. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable at first. But each honest conversation — sharing a meal, laughing at a language mistake, watching daily life happen — breaks down the prejudices.
When I left that dinner table in Istanbul, we still couldn’t fully understand each other’s language. But that didn’t matter. I had learned something more important. 5 The world feels less foreign when we finally sit at its tables.
A.It never came.
B.It happened at times.
C.Of course, not every trip will open your mind.
D.In one week, my old prejudices disappeared.
E.What unites us is much bigger than what separates us.
F.We were both confused and both trying to help each other.
G.I admit overcoming language barriers is key to cultural exchange.

Tourism is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing industries, generating trillions in revenue (收入) annually and employing millions across the globe. 1
At its core, tourism is an economic engine. For countries rich in natural beauty, historical heritage, or unique culture, it becomes a primary source of foreign exchange. Tourists spend on accommodation, dining, transportation, and souvenirs, supporting local shops and restaurants.
2 Visitors immerse (陷入) themselves in local traditions, while hosts learn about global lifestyles. This cross-cultural interaction breaks down prejudices and promotes international friendship. Moreover, tourism often leads to better roads, airports and public services, which improve local people’s daily life as well.
Despite its advantages, unmanaged tourism brings serious problems. 3 Forests are cut down for hotels; beaches and scenic spots are polluted by plastic waste; delicate ecosystems are damaged by too many visitors. Culturally, local customs may be over-commercialized and lose their real meaning. Socially, tourism can push up local prices and create conflicts between tourists and residents.
Sustainable tourism provides a practical solution. 4 Governments can set limits on visitor numbers and protect natural areas. Hotels and restaurants should use non-polluting materials and save energy. For individual tourists, we can choose off-peak seasons, buy local products, and follow local rules. 5 Only in this way can tourism continue to benefit the world without destroying the beauty and cultures we value.
A.Culture is another major highlight of tourism.
B.Its most direct effect shows in the local economy.
C.Small acts by tourists can make a huge difference.
D.People travel abroad to experience different lifestyles.
E.Many popular attractions are being damaged by over-tourism.
F.It also helps improve communication between different nations.
G.It means eco-friendly travel with consideration for local traditions.

I have always loved to travel and experience new things and for many years my travels were one big checklist with flights from city to city, “must-do lists” and pins on Google maps. 1 Maybe it started after the pandemic, when we were all forced to learn to appreciate the little things in everyday life. Or maybe I have always had some slow travel tendencies in me.
2 Not rushing with a pre-determined plan, but taking the time to get to know the area. Having time to wander casually along towards the little handwritten sign and not just visiting popular scenic spots. What I discovered when I started to slow down, was that I SAW more. I found small family vineyards that no guidebook or influencer would ever discover. I had time to talk to the people I met, and I took the time to sit down at a small cafe that no one would ever recommend. 3
One thing I have also discovered, as a result of my slower travel, is that I very rarely book my trips far in advance these days. A good example is this summer’s road trip, where the route and final destination in France were decided two days before departure. There was no must-do list to check off, there were no map pins that needed to be visited. 4 What we managed to do, we managed to do. What we didn’t manage to do, we’ll do next time. It’s always possible to go back to a destination that you don’t feel finished with — one of the reasons why I’ve visited Australia six times and will probably never feel finished with that country.
Another aspect that is important for the future of travel is sustainability. Staying longer in one place lowers carbon emissions, helps boost local economy and lets you enjoy authentic local life. You also have more time to walk and cycle instead of driving. Fewer transports, fewer international chains, fewer travel days. 5 Is slow travel perhaps also a counter-reaction to flight shame, environmental anxiety and consumerism?
A.It is wise to make full preparations before setting off.
B.It feels good for both the environment and your wallet.
C.Yet gradually I changed my way of travelling unconsciously.
D.I used to attach great importance to taking beautiful travel photos.
E.For me, slow travel is about getting to know a place a little more thoroughly.
F.I experienced more, felt more and became more focused on the present moment.
G.Every day on site I found a few new places that I wanted to visit and experience.

How to make the most of a trip to the art museum
An afternoon at the art museum can be challenging. In a few hours, you’re tasked with appreciating dozens of the finest artistic works. Taking it all in is enough to make your head cloudy and your eyes roll. 1 Here are some tips to help you make the most of your art museum adventure.
Consider your physical comfort.
Although you are at the museum to enrich the mind and spirit, don’t ignore your physical comfort. Wear comfortable shoes, and don’t stand with your knees locked. 2 Many museums have excellent cafes.
Don’t try to see everything.
If there is a particular exhibition you’d like to see, go for that, and maybe one other thing. For example, if you are at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, you might limit yourself to the American Wing, or maybe a special exhibition. If you are at the Louvre and never expect to return, focus on the big hits, or “destination pieces.” 3 Also, the information desk can provide further guidance.
Know before you go.
If you know what you are going to see and have the time, do a little online research before heading to the museum. 4 If there is one particular artist whose works you expect to see, read a short biography or article about them, look up some criticism, and check out some of their other works.
Take notes.
If there is something that really appeals to you, write down the artist and title, and learn more later. More extensive notes are great if you want to remember a lot of information. If you plan to write down notes on paper (rather than on your phone), be sure to bring a pencil. 5
A.Paper notes are more likely to get lost.
B.But it doesn’t have to be this stressful.
C.You can find lists of these pieces online.
D.It’s also a good idea to take a snack break.
E.Of course, destination pieces vary among individuals.
F.It is comforting to see paintings that you can recognize.
G.Most museums have an accident-prevention “no pens” rule.

You may be planning a trip to travel abroad. 1 The cities are colorful and filled with history, with many cities showcasing centuries-old buildings and architecture that make them unique and beautiful. With all these features, it’s normal that many people want to travel abroad, making most tourist attraction sites crowded. 2
You might think visiting Venice or Paris would be impossible without crowds. 3 Both cities have plenty of accommodations and restaurants that are just as good as those in more tourist-filled areas. Going off the beaten paths, you’ll discover hidden gems and lesser-known attractions that will make your trip more enjoyable.
4 If you must visit popular sites, try to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon when fewer people are there. As for accommodations, you may consider booking a private AirBnB as opposed to popular hotels that might be swarming with tourists.
Go to lesser-known attraction sites. Many tourists flock to their favorite spots or get the most out of their time abroad. But if you want to avoid tourist crowds, never visit where tourists go. 5 While there’s no substitute for seeing some of Europe’s most famous landmarks, like The Louvre or The Eiffel Tower, there are plenty of other amazing sites that you may not have considered visiting. For instance, some castles and gardens aren’t as well-known.
A.Why do people pay the price?
B.The weather is generally mild and pleasant.
C.Stay away from tourist sites if they’re too busy or crowded.
D.Not all neighborhoods are as busy as many people think, though.
E.But do you know you can avoid tourist crowds and enjoy your trip?
F.It’s no secret that Venice and its residents are struggling with tourism.
G.Instead, go where they don’t go and experience something new and exciting.

Vacation in a sustainable manner
Vacationing in a sustainable manner starts from your planning. Vacationing can be busy and inconveniences occur. If you are not careful, your vacation may turn out to be more harmful than you intended. The only way to avoid messing up everything is to be armed with some essential knowledge.
Write a packing list and go for sustainable products while you’re at it. Using a shopping list helps account for everything you will need. Do not put yourself under pressure when you step into the store. 1
If a park says no to feeding wildlife, simply avoid feeding them. 2 If parks allowed every person to feed animals, chances of the animals dying from food poisoning are high. Attain sustainability by keeping the laws and respecting those in charge. We also protect our lives from potential danger when we follow the set guidelines.
One key aspect of sustainability is the ability of humanity to coexist with nature. 3 For instance, the Indigenous communities in the Amazon are a part of the forest’s life. Respecting their culture and appreciating their contribution will be the best approach to take.
4 The sustainable option you choose may seem absurd or unachievable to another person. However, sharing your experience may just help other people have different perspectives. For instance, spending a night at an off-grid cottage might seem boring to someone else. However, sharing the experience and explaining your idea to your friends may get them to appreciate it.
There is no one rule that fits all scenarios when it comes to sustainable vacationing. 5 However, it all starts with the intention to keep our earth healthy for our future.
A.Most people are not sustainability conscious.
B.This has been possible in some communities for years.
C.It’s a wide field and this article barely scratches the surface.
D.First get the shopping list right when shopping for supplies.
E.Unfortunately, some practices may be out of reach for individuals.
F.Simply read the labels and avoid products with a high carbon footprint.
G.Most times, what we interpret as affection for wildlife puts them at risk.

When Becca’s parents informed her that the family would be hiking to Big Bend National Park in West Texas for spring break, Becca was not excited, because the only things she knew about it were some things her friend Shayla had told her that the cell phone signal was not very good, and that there was very little to do. 1 .
Becca threw her bag into the car, rolling her eyes, and asked how long it was going to take to get to the infamous park. “It’s about a five-hour drive,” her mom replied. 2 . “Is the scenery at least good along the way?” she complained extremely unhappily.
3 . She rested her head against a pillow and immediately fell asleep. After hours of tossing (翻转) and turning in the uncomfortable back seat. Becca was awakened by her mother’s excited announcement: “We’re here!”
Looking wide-eyed into the canyon (峡谷), Becca suddenly spotted a large animal. “Dad, look!” she shouted. After a while, Becca thought about the opinions her friend Shayla had shared with her. “See, a mountain lion! Amazing!” The three of them stared at it in open-mouthed astonishment. 4 . “Uh, Mom, Dad,” Becca finally said as the lion slid into some tall bushes. “I didn’t know Big Bend is so beautiful or that mountain lions live here. I can hardly believe what I am seeing!”
“Yeah, honey. That’s the wonder of nature — you’re always discovering something new!” her mom exclaimed in excitement. “That true. Becca. Just keep our minds open to things. 5 !” her dad added.
A.We’ll definitely find miracles in nature
B.Hearing that, her mood soured even more
C.Becca was surprised by the breathtaking sight
D.Shayla went back to her room to sleep in silence
E.You should work with, not against, Mother Nature

Traveling on a budget
Do you feel an urge to travel while saving money? Budget travelling is here for you.
Budget traveling isn’t only about saving money. 1 I often go camping and hitchhiking (搭便车) to cut costs, but both need strong safety awareness. This is especially important if you’re a woman. Over 8 years of traveling, I’ve been to 16 countries and 156 cities, hitched rides with 608 strangers and camped for 80 nights. All these travels cost me only 30,000 RMB.
When camping, I choose lightweight tents in dark colors. I set up the tent before nightfall, usually in busy areas like 24-hour gas stations. Keep the following tips in mind: Don’t camp in countries with very conservative cultures. 2 I lock my tent from the inside, keep safety tools like pepper spray by my pillow and even make friends with stray dogs (流浪狗) for protection. In Armenia and Georgia, dogs watched over me all night while I camped in parks.
3 I usually check Hitchwiki, a site where travelers share tips and experiences, to know what to expect. Then I wait on quiet roads outside the city, choose trucks with professional drivers and make sure the driver sees me take photos of license plates for safety. Always make it clear you want a free ride and won’t pay for gas. If it feels unsafe, walk away and take a bus or train — 4
Through my experiences of traveling in nine countries, I’ve learned to balance saving money with staying safe. 5 Always put your safety first, especially for young adventurers!
A.It’s not worth the risk.
B.Hitchhiking also requires caution.
C.Travel should be fun and responsible.
D.Travel should be adventurous and costly.
E.It’s also about enjoying a safe adventure.
F.Do camp in the countries with hit attractions.
G.Don’t camp in remote areas with no one around.

Responsible Travel: Best Immersive (沉浸式的) Adventures with Volunteering Abroad
Traveling offers a way to discover new cultures, landscapes, and perspectives. However, our actions as travelers often impact the places we visit in ways we may not realize. 1 Meanwhile, it enhances the benefits of travel for local communities and the environment. Let’s explore how to be a responsible traveler while making meaningful connections, volunteering abroad and contributing to sustainable tourism.
The heart of responsible travel is about connecting with the people, understanding their lives, and respecting their ways of life. 2 Protecting endangered species, respecting habitats, and minimizing waste are essential to kindness toward the environment.
3 By choosing to volunteer, you engage in activities that positively impact local communities while gaining a deeper understanding of their culture and challenges. Whether you’re teaching, helping with conservation, or participating in healthcare projects, responsible volunteering helps empower locals and promotes sustainable development.
A sustainable trip is one that not only benefits the traveler but also leaves a positive legacy (遗产) for the host community and environment. 4 Look for accommodations with eco-certifications, minimize your plastic use, and avoid participating in activities that harm wildlife or consume local resources. Such a trip also supports the local economy by purchasing from local businesses and using services run by locals. 5
In a word, by integrating making meaningful connections, volunteering and sustainability into our travels, you not only enrich your own experience but also help preserve the beauty and culture of the places you visit.
A.Besides, it extends to how we interact with nature.
B.Volunteering abroad can expose you to new job opportunities.
C.In fact, the most significant impact of travel is the environmental one.
D.Responsible travel is a concept that emphasizes minimizing these impacts.
E.When planning a trip, choose places and programs that promote sustainability.
F.This strengthens the community’s financial independence and protects its culture.
G.Volunteering abroad offers a chance to combine travel with meaningful contributions.

Although driving your car is likely second nature, a successful road trip is more than just shifting your vehicle to “drive”. To truly get the most out of your journey, you need to prepare with an eye to everything from start to the end. 1
Plan your route and budget.
Start by choosing a destination that inspires you—whether it’s a national park, a scenic coastline, or a historic landmark. Then, design a route that balances driving time with interesting stops, turning the journey itself into an essential part of the adventure. 2 This unlocks the true freedom of the road, free from financial stress.
Conduct a vehicle safety check.
3 As such, make sure it’s ready for the challenge. Conduct a detailed inspection of tire pressure, engine oil, coolant, brakes, and lights to prevent unexpected breakdowns. A reliable vehicle not only ensures your safety but also builds confidence for those long, open-road stretches.
4
While the joy of unplanned discoveries is part of the fun, a little research ensures you won’t miss key sights. Identify must-visit-spots, local restaurants, and lodging options along your route — and consider making reservations during peak travel periods. This approach lets you explore with peace of mind, knowing your essentials are secured while leaving room for delightful surprises.
Pack smart with a checklist.
Create a tailored packing list that covers clothing, toiletries, emergency supplies, and car documents. 5 This simple habit saves time, reduces stress, and ensures you have everything needed for a comfortable and well- prepared trip.
With all the keys in hand, all that’s left is to hit the road and begin your adventure.
A.Your car is your travel partner.

Paris is an ideal travel destination with its food, wine, shopping complexes and sightseeing spots. 1 Actually it is possible to have a good time without spending a lot.
Forget the large international hotels in the centre. Instead, get off the main streets. There are many hotels just two blocks away from the main tourist attractions, which cost as little as US $35 a night each, including breakfast.
2 But who needs more when the point of the trip is to be out in the streets? The real bonus is living among French people and experiencing their life.
Seek out small, local cafes when you want a meal. They are at every street corner in the less fancy parts of town. Choose from the fixed-price dinner menus posted outside these cafes. Many have prices as low as US $9 or US $10. Drinks with meals are more expensive, especially beer and quality wine. But there are some reasonable alternatives. House wine is good: perhaps a couple of dollars per carafe (喇叭瓶). Coffee, thick and lovely, costs US $2.50 a cup. 3
Getting around Paris is easy and inexpensive. Walking is the best way to feel the street-life but when you start to tire, take the train. Subway tickets for anywhere across the city cost around a dollar a trip and even less if you buy a multiple-ticket book. 4 All the maps and signposts are easy to understand.
5 Passes can be bought at major subway stations and elsewhere. The Louvre is an absolute must to visit. The Eiffel Tower gives a great view of the city for less than US $10. You can’t miss the street architecture, the surrounding atmosphere and the daily goings-on in Paris. More importantly, they cost nothing or little to explore and experience.
A.The system is quick and efficient.
B.The breakfast features a local flavor.
C.But some people are worried about the high cost.
D.The admissions to Paris’ attractions are not costly.
E.Quality wine and tasty food are tough on the budget.
F.The rooms with small bathrooms are clean and basic.
G.That totals less than $15 per person for dinner and drinks.

【答案】1.B 2.C 3.E 4.A 5.G
1.前文“Travel promotes understanding, expands our minds, makes us better people, and boosts local economies and communities, but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in certain regions and destinations.(旅游促进理解,扩展我们的思想,使我们成为更好的人,促进当地经济和社区,但旅游业的快速发展导致了某些地区和目的地的过度旅游)”表明旅游带来了一些问题,后文“The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today’s world.(在当今世界,失去旅行所能提供的东西将是不可接受的)”表示不能失去旅行,结合后文“Certainly not.(当然不)”可知,空处提问能否停止旅行,B选项“那么,我们应该停止旅行吗?”
2.前文“Overvisited destinations are that way for a reason: they’re special. With so many online posts featuring the same places, it’s easy to feel like you’re missing out. Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you.(游客过多的目的地是有原因的:它们很特别。网上有这么多关于同一个地方的帖子,很容易让你觉得你错过了。只有当风景、文化或食物深深吸引你时,才去某个地方)”表明不要跟风旅游,C选项“为你而不是其他人旅行”表明要关注自己在旅行时的感受,忠实自己的感受,不用管其余的建议,符合语境。故选C。
3.前文“That means you have tons of less-visited options to choose from.(这意味着你有很多不太受欢迎的选择)及后文“Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination’s lesser-known sights?( 为什么不尝试一个地区性的选择,或者看看一个热门目的地不太为人所知的景点呢)”提出建议,可以选择一些冷门的景点,E选项“你仍然可以找到相对未被发现的地方”符合语境。故选E。
故选A。
5.前文“Do your part to preserve what makes a destination special in the first place.(尽你的一份力,从一开始就保护一个目的地的特别之处)”表明旅游时应保护旅游景点,后文“You may be amazed how much closer you’ll feel to the people there.(你可能会惊讶地发现你和那里的人感觉如此亲近)”表示这样做的感受,G选项“考虑回馈你所访问的社区”承上启下,符合语境。
【答案】1.D 2.C 3.A 4.F 5.E
1.上文 They had nothing in common with me
We sleep in a tent, cooked over an open fire, and walked a long distance to take the shower and use the bathroom
Instead,we had a pop-up camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner 可知,空格处是与下文形成转折的内容,而"我"此次旅行用了展开式营房.A项意为"这一次没有帐篷",与下文形成转折,符合语境.
We have done a lot of it since
5.由下文 sooner or later, everyone finds his or her way back to nature 可知,"我"希望每个人都能找到回归自然,也就是野营的个性化选择.
有时会出现下列衔接词汇或短语结构:first, second, then, next, later, soon, so, but, however, additionally, what's more, that is, namely, in other words, for one thing... for another等。
表示转折关系的连接词有:but, however/whereas, nevertheless, nonetheless, still, though, yet, in spite of, at any rate, in any case, whoever, whatever, on the contrary, in contrast, by contrast, in comparison, by comparison, conversely, otherwise, not... but...
表示因果关系的连接词有as a result/consequently, thus/therefore, so (such)... that...
表示递进关系的连接词有:also, further, furthermore, likewise, similarly, moreover, in addition, what's more, too, either, neither, not only... but also...

【答案】1.A 2.D 3.F 4.C 5.E
1.上文“Stepping out of the airport, I waited for the discomfort to settle.(走出机场,我等着不适感袭来)”写作者本以为会感受到不适。后文“Instead, I found shopkeepers offering tea to strangers, teenagers practicing English while playing games, and a grandmother motioning me to join her family’s dinner simply because I looked lost.(相反,我看到店主给陌生人递茶,青少年一边玩游戏一边练习英语,还有一位老奶奶见我迷路,示意我和她家人共进晚餐)”写实际遇到的都是友善的人。
2.上文“Instead, I found shopkeepers offering tea to strangers, teenagers practicing English while playing games, and a grandmother motioning me to join her family’s dinner simply because I looked lost.(相反,我发现店主们给陌生人提供茶水,青少年们在玩游戏时练习英语,还有一位祖母仅仅因为我显得迷路,就示意我和她家人一起共进晚餐)”讲述作者在当地感受到人们的善意。选项D“In one week, my old prejudices disappeared.(一周之内,我旧日的偏见消失了)”总结第一段作者心态的转变,起到承上启下的作用。
3.上文“In my case, a local and I tried together to read a broken public transit map.(就我而言,我和一位当地人一起努力辨认一张破损的公共交通地图)”介绍作者和当地人共同看地图这件事。选项F“We were both confused and both trying to help each other.(我们俩都一头雾水,却都努力互相帮忙)”描述当时两人平等协作的场景,契合前文接触理论的内容。
4.下文“If you stay inside a resort and never talk to locals, you might actually keep your old prejudices.(如果你一直待在度假胜地,从不和当地人交流,你可能会一直保有旧有的偏见)”说明并不是所有旅行都能改变想法。选项C“Of course, not every trip will open your mind.(当然,不是每一次旅行都能开阔眼界)”作为本段主题句,引出下文论述。
5.上文“But that didn’t matter. I had learned something more important.(但这并不重要,我学到了更重要的东西)”表明作者在这次旅行中收获感悟。后文“The world feels less foreign when we finally sit at its tables.(当我们终于同桌而坐,世界就不再那么陌生)”升华主旨。选项E“What unites us is much bigger than what separates us.(联结我们的事物远比分隔我们的事物更重要)”是作者得到的感悟。
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.E 4.G 5.C
2.根据后文“Visitors immerse (陷入) themselves in local traditions, while hosts learn about global lifestyles. This cross-cultural interaction breaks down prejudices and promotes international friendship. Moreover, tourism often leads to better roads, airports and public services, which improve local people’s daily life as well.(游客沉浸于当地传统,而主人则了解全球的生活方式。这种跨文化交流有助于消除偏见,促进国际友谊。此外,旅游业通常也会带来更好的道路、机场和公共服务,从而改善当地居民的日常生活)”可知,后文围绕跨文化交流、文化互动展开,A选项“文化是旅游业的另一大亮点”可引出本段文化相关的论述,契合段落逻辑。
3.根据上文“Despite its advantages, unmanaged tourism brings serious problems.(尽管旅游业有诸多优势,但缺乏管理的旅游也会带来严重问题)”以及后文“Forests are cut down for hotels; beaches and scenic spots are polluted by plastic waste; delicate ecosystems are damaged by too many visitors. Culturally, local customs may be over-commercialized and lose their real meaning. Socially, tourism can push up local prices and create conflicts between tourists and residents.(森林被砍伐用于建造酒店;海滩和风景名胜因塑料垃圾而污染;脆弱的生态系统因游客过多而受到破坏。在文化方面,当地习俗可能被过度商业化,失去其真正的意义。在社会层面,旅游业会推高本地物价,并引发游客与居民之间的矛盾)”可知,前文指出无序旅游会带来严重问题,后文列举了生态破坏等过度旅游的乱象,E选项“许多热门景点正因过度旅游遭到破坏”可承接前文总述问题,引出后文具体表现。
4.根据上文“Sustainable tourism provides a practical solution.(可持续旅游提供了一个切实可行的解决方案)”以及后文“Governments can set limits on visitor numbers and protect natural areas. Hotels and restaurants should use non-polluting materials and save energy. For individual tourists, we can choose off-peak seasons, buy local products, and follow local rules.(政府可以限制游客数量并保护自然区域。酒店和餐厅应使用无污染材料并节约能源。对于个人游客,可以选择非旅游旺季、购买本地产品,并遵守当地规定)”可知,前文引出可持续旅游是可行解决方案,后文分别从政府、商家、游客角度说明践行方式,G选项“它指的是兼顾当地传统的环保旅行”准确解释了可持续旅游的内涵,衔接上下文。
5.根据上文“Governments can set limits on visitor numbers and protect natural areas. Hotels and restaurants should use non-polluting materials and save energy. For individual tourists, we can choose off-peak seasons, buy local products, and follow local rules.(政府可以限制游客数量并保护自然区域。
【答案】1.C 2.E 3.F 4.G 5.B

Or maybe I have always had some slow travel tendencies in me.(也许这种改变始于疫情之后,那时我们都被迫学会欣赏日常生活中的小事。 C选项 “Yet gradually I changed my way of travelling unconsciously.(然而,我不知不觉地逐渐改变了我的旅行方式)”符合语境。
2.下文“Not rushing with a pre-determined plan, but taking the time to get to know the area. Having time to wander casually along towards the little handwritten sign and not just visiting popular scenic spots.(不按照预先确定的计划匆忙行事,而是花时间去了解这个地区。有时间悠闲地朝着那些手写的小指示牌漫步,而不只是参观热门景点)”具体解释慢旅行不赶行程、深度探访的特点;E选项“For me, slow travel is about getting to know a place a little more thoroughly.(对我来说,慢旅行就是更深入地了解一个地方)”作者阐述自己对慢旅行的定义,引出下文慢旅行的内涵。
3.前文“I found small family vineyards that no guidebook or influencer would ever discover. I had time to talk to the people I met, and I took the time to sit down at a small cafe that no one would ever recommend.(我发现了一些家庭小葡萄园,这些地方任何旅行指南或网红都不会发现。我有时间和遇到的人交谈,还花时间坐在一家没人会推荐的小咖啡馆里)”作者列举了慢旅行中的一些活动;选项F“I experienced more, felt more and became more focused on the present moment.(我体验得更多,感受得更多,也更加专注于当下)”承接上文,总结了作者在慢旅行中的收获,符合语境。

【答案】1.F 2.G 3.B 4.A 5.C
1.上文“Do not put yourself under pressure when you step into the store.(当你走进商店时,不要给自己太大压力)”讲到度假采购物品不必焦虑。 F“Simply read the labels and avoid products with a high carbon footprint.(只需查看标签,避开高碳足迹产品)”承接购物选材话题,贴合本段环保采购主旨,符合语境。
2.上文“If a park says no to feeding wildlife, simply avoid feeding them.(如果公园明确表示不允许向野生动物投食,那么您就不要去投食了)”提出不要随意投喂动物。空后“If parks allowed every person to feed animals, chances of the animals dying from food poisoning are high.(如果公园允许每个人随意投喂动物,那么动物因食物中毒而死亡的可能性就会很高)”解释随意投喂会导致动物食物中毒。 G“Most times, what we interpret as affection for wildlife puts them at risk.(多数时候我们自以为的关爱实则将野生动物置于危险中)”衔接上下文逻辑,符合语境。
3.上文“One key aspect of sustainability is the ability of humanity to coexist with nature.(可持续发展的关键是人与自然共处)”点明人与自然共生的主题。空后“For instance, the Indigenous communities in the Amazon are a part of the forest’s life.(例如,亚马逊地区的原住民社区是这片森林生命的一部分)”举例亚马逊原住民与森林共生。选项B“This has been possible in some communities for years.(这种共处模式在一些群落早已实现)”过渡引出下文事例,衔接自然,符合语境。
4.空后“The sustainable option you choose may seem absurd or unachievable to another person.(你所选择的可持续发展方案可能在别人看来显得荒谬或无法实现)”说明很多人缺乏可持续理念。 A“Most people are not sustainability conscious.(大多数人缺乏可持续发展意识)”引出后文分享经验、改变他人看法的内容,契合段落主旨。
5.上文“There is no one rule that fits all scenarios when it comes to sustainable vacationing.(在可持续度假方面,并不存在适用于所有情况的统一规则)”说明其没有统一标准。 C“It’s a wide field and this article barely scratches the surface.(这一领域范围很广,本文仅浅作介绍)”承接前文无统一规则的表述,衔接后文,符合语境。

【答案】1.E 2.G 3.B 4.A 5.C

1.空后一句说“I often go camping and hitchhiking (搭便车) to cut costs, but both need strong safety awareness.(我经常露营和搭便车来省钱,但两者都需要强烈的安全意识)”,这正是在具体解释“安全冒险”的内涵。
2.根据上文“When camping, I choose lightweight tents in dark colors. I set up the tent before nightfall, usually in busy areas like 24-hour gas stations. Keep the following tips in mind: Don’t camp in countries with very conservative cultures.(在露营时,我会选择颜色较深的轻便帐篷。我会在日落前把帐篷搭好,通常会选择在像 24 小时营业的加油站这样人多的地方。请记住以下几点:不要在文化非常保守的国家露营)”以及后文“I lock my tent from the inside, keep safety tools like pepper spray by my pillow and even make friends with stray dogs (流浪狗) for protection. In Armenia and Georgia, dogs watched over me all night while I camped in parks.(我从里面锁上了帐篷,把防身用具(如辣椒喷雾)放在枕头旁边,甚至还和流浪狗交上了朋友(以求得到它们的保护)。在亚美尼亚和格鲁吉亚,我露营在公园里时,狗狗们整夜守护着我)”可知,本段核心是露营安全。空前建议在“24小时加油站”等繁忙区域扎营。空后则描述了一系列个人防护措施。因此,此处填入一个关于“选址”的负面建议最合适。G选项“不要在周围无人的偏远地区露营”与前文的“繁忙区域”形成鲜明对比和补充,逻辑连贯。故选G。
3.根据后文“I usually check Hitchwiki, a site where travelers share tips and experiences, to know what to expect. Then I wait on quiet roads outside the city, choose trucks with professional drivers and make sure the driver sees me take photos of license plates for safety. Always make it clear you want a free ride and won’t pay for gas. If it feels unsafe, walk away and take a bus or train(我通常会查看“Hitchwiki”这个网站,那里有旅行者分享出行经验和心得,借此来了解可能会遇到的情况。
4.根据上文“If it feels unsafe, walk away and take a bus or train(如果感觉不安全,就赶紧离开,改乘公共汽车或火车)”可知,空前描述了搭便车时若感觉不安全,应果断放弃并选择其他交通工具。 故选A。
5.根据上文“Through my experiences of traveling in nine countries, I’ve learned to balance saving money with staying safe.(通过我在九个国家的旅行经历,我学会了在节省开支与确保安全之间找到平衡)”以及后文“Always put your safety first, especially for young adventurers!(永远要把自身安全放在首位,尤其是对于那些初涉冒险的年轻人来说!)”

【答案】1.C 2.F 3.G 4.A 5.D

G选项“That totals less than $15 per person for dinner and drinks.
