What a day! I started at my new school this morning and had the best time. I made lots of new friends and really liked my teachers. I was nervous the night before, but I had no reason to be. Everyone was so friendly and polite. They made me feel at ease. It was like I’d been at the school for a hundred years!
The day started very early at 7: 00 am. I had my breakfast downstairs with my mom. She could tell that I was very nervous. Mom kept asking me what was wrong. She told me I had nothing to worry about and that everyone was going to love me. If they didn’t love me, Mom said to send them her way for a good talking to. I couldn’t stop laughing.
My mom dropped me off at the school gates about five minutes before the bell. A little blonde girl got dropped off at the same time and started waving (招手) at me. She ran over and told me her name was Abigail. She was very nice and we became close straight away. We spent all morning together and began to talk to another girl called Stacey. The three of us sat together in class all day and we even made our way home together! It went so quickly. Our teacher told us that tomorrow we would really start learning and developing new skills.
I cannot wait until tomorrow and feel as though I am really going to enjoy my time at my new school. I only hope that my new friends feel the same way too.

School days are supposed to be the best days of your life and part of that experience usually involves some unforgettable physical activities. I asked some people to give me their memories of what happened to them on the sports field and beyond, and this is what they told me.
Cup winners
When I was about ten, the football team from our year unexplainably made it to the cup final of the local schools’ league. I say unexplainably because I only remember us losing nearly every match we played. Anyway, in the final I set up the winning goal, a brilliant cross to my mate David who headed the ball in just before the final whistle. I still have a photograph of the team holding the cup.
Forest hike
I remember having to lead a group of eight boys on a school expedition for the best part of two days when I was a teenager. Even though we got lost at one point, I managed to keep them all together and get them from one end of a large forest to the other and back by sheer (纯粹的) force of will. I was chosen to be the leader, I think because I was the only one who knew how to read a map!
When we arrived back at the campsite, we found out that all the other groups had cheated and hitched (搭便车) most of the way instead… I felt a bit stupid, but also rather proud of myself at the same time for having done it properly.
Learning to swim, learning to drown
I learned to swim comparatively late, I suppose. I was maybe nine years old but my brother had a painful experience that nearly put him off for life. We lived in the USA for a while and had access to a university pool where the coaches had trained the American Olympic team. In those days, though, their idea of teaching kids how to swim was to tie a can to their ankles with a bit of string, throw them in the deep end, and shout “Swim!”. I am surprised my brother survived at all. He could only have been about six at the time.

A. Tips on taking part in outdoor activities B. How people consider physical activities
C. Why people love outdoor activities D. People’s experiences of physical activities

A. He scored the winning goal. B. He provided the pass for the final goal.
C. He blew the whistle at the end of the game. D. He lost every game in the season.
30.The underlined word "expedition" in the third paragraph has the same meaning as “________”.
A. match B. deal C. trip D. research
31.It can be learned that when the third person was young, ________.
A. he learned swimming from the same coach as his elder brother
B. the swimming coach’s teaching method was rather thoughtless
C. His family lived near a university pool for about ten years
D. The American Olympic team had no swimming pool of its own
D
Instant noodles are a favorite quick meal when people don’t want to cook. Picture eating them while watching TV on a stormy night — pure comfort! But many believe they’re just junk food that harms health. The truth is, whether they’re unhealthy depends entirely on how you prepare them.
The main issue isn’t the noodles themselves, but the common way people make them: pouring boiling water over dried noodles and adding all the salty seasoning packets(调料包). These flavor packets contain high levels of salt and artificial additives (人工添加剂), making this version unbalanced and unhealthy.
Actually, common instant noodles aren’t terrible. They’re fried during production, which adds some oil and calories, but they fill you up well and provide quick energy when you’re hungry. To make them healthier, cook them properly: boil the noodles first, drain (排出) extra starchy(含有淀粉的) water, then use fresh water or broth (肉汤). More importantly, use only half the seasoning packet to reduce salt. Add vegetables like spinach or carrots and protein like an egg or tofu while cooking. This adds vitamins and protein while cutting sodium (钠). This changes them into a balanced meal!
So, are instant noodles junk food? If prepared lazily with all the seasoning and no extras, yes. But when cooked with less seasoning plus vegetables and protein, they become a good occasional (偶尔的) meal. Remember: the secret is variety. Enjoy them once or twice a week as part of a varied diet, and they won’t harm your health. They’re far less unhealthy than people think — just improve your cooking method!
32. What determines if instant noodles are unhealthy?
A. Their quick cooking time. B. The time of eating.
C. The preparation method. D. The junk food label.
33 What is the major cause of unhealthy instant noodles?
A. The dried noodles. B. The flavor packets.
C. Using boiling water. D. People avoiding cooking.
34. What is the main purpose of the third paragraph?
A. Warn about health dangers. B. Give cooking instructions.
C. Argue noodles are harmless. D. List harmful additives.
35. What is the suitable title for the passage?
A. Instant Noodles: Not All Waste. B. Instant Noodles: How to Cook?
C. Instant Noodles: Eat Sometimes. D. Instant Noodles: What We Know?

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Lily was a high school student who loved comparing herself with others. She always cared about the latest clothes, expensive phones, and designer bags. Whenever someone showed off (炫耀) a new item, she would feel jealous (嫉妒的) and want to buy something better. Her parents often told her, “True value isn’t in what you own (拥有),” but she never listened.
One day, Lily noticed a girl from another class, whose name was Coco. Coco’s family was wealthy, but she always wore simple clothes and carried an old schoolbag. Unlike Lily, Coco never joined in the students’ discussions about brands or prices. Instead, she spent her time helping classmates with math problems or volunteering in the school library. Her grades were always at the top of the class, and everyone respected (尊重) her.
Lily couldn’t understand why Coco didn’t care about material (物质的) things. One afternoon, Lily saw Coco sitting alone under a tree, reading a book. She decided to talk to her. “Why don’t you buy nicer things?” Lily asked. “Your family has enough money.” Coco looked up with a smile. “I’d rather spend money on important things,” she said. “Like helping others or buying books.”
That night, Lily thought about Coco’s words. She realized that she had been looking for things that didn’t bring real happiness. The next day, she made a decision: she would stop comparing herself with others and start focusing on what is truly important.
