School Education/AI&Learning
Wilde

Hey, everyone. Have you heard of generative AI? It’s a type of chatbot that can create texts, pictures, or even videos all on its own. I’ve been thinking — should students be allowed to use AI for their schoolwork? What do you all think?
Dylan Patel

I think AI is going to change how we learn. Yeah, some people worry about cheating, but there are ways to make it safer. Chatbots could be programmed to help guide us through questions instead of just giving the answers. They could also help teachers make lessons that fit each student, so no one falls behind. And AI tutors could help us anytime, day or night. AI is here to stay.

I get that technology can be helpful, but I think kids need to learn how to do things on their own first. That’s why we still need to learn maths, even with calculators (计算器) around. And why schools still teach handwriting — most adults type, but we still need to know how to write. Our brains need exercise to develop, just like our bodies. AI might benefit adults, but it’s not good for children to rely on it before mastering the basics of education.
Alexa Taylor

I think teaching kids about AI is a good way to get them ready for the future. A survey showed that most Americans believe it’s necessary for students to learn AI-related skills for their future jobs. Using AI can help us develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It’s also important to know what AI can’t do well — like sometimes it spreads wrong information, or people could use it in the wrong way.
1. What can we infer about Wilde from his post?
A. He is a student who wants to learn about AI.
B. He is a teacher who will give a lesson on AI.
C. He is a host who starts a discussion about AI.
2. What does Dylan Patel think AI can do for students?
A. Work at any time of day to help students.
B. Make lessons for students who fall behind.
C. Take the place of teachers in the future.
3. What does Harper Carroll think children should do before using AI?
A. They should wait until they grow up to use AI.
B. They should first master the basics of education.
C. They should learn to master math before using AI.
4. What is the disadvantage of using AI according to Alexa Taylor?
A. It isn’t good for students to learn some skills for their future jobs.
B. It sometimes gives us some wrong information when we use it.
C. It doesn’t help students to think about questions from both sides.
5. Where is this text most likely from?
A. A school noticeboard.
B. An online technology survey.
C. An online discussion forum.
【答案】1. C 2. A 3. B 4. B 5. C

Jenny first got into motorsport (赛车运动) by watching her younger brother, Bill, drive his kart (卡丁赛车). Every time he took off his helmet (头盔) with a big smile, she became more fascinated. Soon after, she took the wheel herself.
She started out in karts, racing at state level and then nationally, and got good results early on. She got into the 2023 Ferrari training camp and was invited to enter a top Italian racing school. She then won Best New Driver in November 2024, and moved up to the Spanish F4 (一种入门级赛车比赛). In February 2025, she became a driver of the F1 Academy — races for women racers.
Racing needs a strong mind, not just fast driving. Starting karting at 9 taught her how hard the sport is on the mind and how discouraging and exciting it can be all at once. Now, Jenny talks with a coach every week and acts out situations she’s likely to face, which helps her stay calm under pressure and keep focused in races.
Since she travels a lot for racing, Jenny has to study online. And she misses her friends’ birthdays. Always being on the way means leaving behind her loved things like her home, her school and the people she grew up with.
As a woman driver, Jenny has faced doubts, but she believes love and performance speak loudest. She hopes to encourage more girls to go for their dreams. She enjoys the speed and excitement of driving. Her biggest dream is to become the first woman F1 driver in her country.
6. When did Jenny become interested in motorsport?
A. When she enjoyed a race on TV.
B. When she watched Bill drive his kart.
C. When she got a dream helmet.
7. What does Paragraph 2 focus on?
A. Jenny’s big moments in motor racing.
B. Jenny’s educational background.
C. The development of the Spanish F4.
8. How does Jenny keep her mind strong?

B. By learning from other racers.
C. By talking with a coach before races.
9. What can be inferred from paragraph 4?
A. Jenny can balance her life well.
B. Jenny values her free time most.
C. Jenny makes great efforts for racing.
10. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. No Doubt, No Success
B. Driven to Fly
C. The Younger, The Better
【答案】6. B 7. A 8. C 9. C 10. B

It’s clear that the world will be quite different in the year 2045. But what changes might we see? It’s pretty likely that robots and AI technology will bring great changes to jobs. Also, self-driving and flying cars will come into our daily life, making our lives easier. Scientists have even bigger ideas in a video called To the Future.
Dr. Juraz believes we might be able to control things around us simply with our thoughts. “Imagine that you could use simple devices (设备) to connect to your mind and control things around you simply by thinking about it.” Juraz says. According to him, scientists are working on the technologies that can make this happen. They’ve made some progress already.
The future has more than just that. Steven says that we’ll be able to create very strong but light things. New materials will change the way we build everything from cars to spacecraft. Imagine cars are safer, more energy-saving, and able to carry heavier things. Lighter spacecraft could mean great cuts in the cost and make more exploration goals possible.
Panny believes that our relationship with machines will change. She says, “I think one day we can tell a machine what to do with just a button (按钮) or a few simple words.” For example, pilots have to follow many steps for a plane to take off. But in 2045, according to Panny, “Prepare for taking off,” and the computer will do the rest. Or maybe, we won’t even need pilots.
These are just a few of the many possible changes that 2045 might bring. It makes us wonder what other surprises the future holds. Will there be new forms of energy that change our lives?
11. What is likely to bring great changes to jobs in 2045?
A. The development of new materials.
B. Robots and AI technology.
C. The change in our relationship with machines.
12. According to Dr. Juraz, what might we be able to do in 2045?
A. Control things around us with our hands.
B. Use complex devices to connect to our minds.
C. Control things around us just by thinking.
13. What does Steven think the future spacecraft will be like?
A. Cheaper. B. Safer. C. Bigger.
14. How does Panny explain her idea?
A. By telling a story. B. By giving an example. C. By listing numbers.
15. What will the writer probably write about after the last paragraph?
A. Many possible changes. B. New forms of energy. C. New wonders in 2045.
【答案】11. B 12. C 13. A 14. B 15. B
【解析】

【12题详解】
文章第2段Dr. Juraz的观点“we might be able to control things around us simply with our thoughts”,即仅通过意念就能控制周围事物。
【13题详解】
文章第3段“Lighter spacecraft could mean great cuts in the cost and make more exploration goals possible.”表明Steven认为未来的飞行器成本会大幅降低,也就是更便宜。
【14题详解】
文章第4段“For example, pilots have to follow many steps for a plane to take off.”表明Panny通过举飞机起飞的例子来解释自己的观点。

D
In the digital age, teenagers are surrounded by various public figures, and the definition of “inspiring people” has become richer than before. Some teenagers regard sports stars and singers as their role models, while others admire scientists, doctors and ordinary workers who stick to their posts. No matter who the role model is, the core value of inspiring people lies in their positive spiritual power.
Many people hold the view that only great celebrities (名人) can be inspiring. But this idea is actually one-sided. In fact, inspiration is not exclusive (独有的) to famous people. Ordinary people around us can also deliver strong spiritual strength. A teacher who devotes decades to education, a cleaner who keeps the city clean every day, or a peer who insists on self-improvement, all of them have inspiring power.
The significance of role models for teenagers’ growth is huge. For teenagers who are in a critical period of value formation, inspiring people act as spiritual guides. Their persistence, kindness and sense of responsibility can help teenagers set correct life goals and form positive values. When teenagers face confusion and pressure in growth, the stories of inspiring people can give them strength to move forward.
However, blind star-chasing is a common problem among some teenagers. They waste plenty of time and energy on paying attention to stars’ daily trivialities (琐事), ignoring their own study and growth. This kind of admiration loses its positive meaning and becomes a burden.
Therefore, teenagers should learn to distinguish real inspiring role models. True inspiration never comes from appearance or fame, but from noble qualities and persistent efforts. We should absorb positive energy from all admirable people and become better versions of ourselves.
16. What is the core value of inspiring people according to Paragraph 1?
A. Great fame and wealth B. Positive spiritual power C. Special social status
17. What does the writer think of ordinary people as role models?
A. They cannot bring inspiration to teenagers
B. They have valuable inspiring power as well
C. They are less admirable than celebrities
18. What is the problem of blind star-chasing for teenagers?
A. It helps them form correct values
B. It wastes time and influences personal growth
C. It makes them learn more social knowledge
19. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The True Meaning of Inspiring Role Models
B. How to Choose Famous Stars as Idols
C. The Disadvantages of Star-chasing
20. What does the underlined word “distinguish” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A. choose B. tell apart C. follow
【答案】16. B 17. B 18. B 19. A 20. B
【解析】

【17题详解】
原文第二段“Ordinary people around us can also deliver strong spiritual strength”表明了作者的观点:普通人同样具备珍贵的榜样感召力。
【18题详解】
文章第四段“They waste plenty of time and energy…ignoring their own study and growth.”
“The True Meaning of Inspiring Role Models”概括全文主旨。
【20题详解】
原文最后一段“True inspiration never comes from appearance or fame, but from noble qualities and persistent efforts.”指出,真正的励志从来不是来自外表或名气,而是来自高尚的品质与不懈的努力,因此青少年需要学会“distinguish”真正的励志榜样,结合语境可以推知该词含义为“区分、辨别”,和tell apart语义一致。

Have you ever wondered whether bamboo is a tree or a kind of grass? It is a kind of grass in the science of plants. Bamboo is really a wonder of nature. This fast-growing plant can be seen everywhere and is widely used.
Bamboo has got many advantages, leading to its common uses for thousands of years. Bamboo is often used to produce daily products, such as chairs, beds and tables. What’s more, bamboo can be made into a kind of material for clothes. Bamboo can even be used as an excellent building material because it grows fast and it is strong.
Bamboo is easy to decay (腐烂), so people have to add chemicals to make bamboo-based materials (竹基材料) stay for a long time. But these chemicals are bad for the environment. Chinese scientists have kept improving technologies to deal with this disadvantage. Here is a good example. In 2016, a Chinese research team in Nanjing began to work on new bamboo technologies. Later, the team succeeded in developing a new bamboo technology.
The new technology is a heat treatment. This treatment moves decay-causing matter out of bamboo without adding chemicals that are harmful to the environment. At the same time, the structure (结构) of bamboo is well kept. As a result, new bamboo-based materials were produced and chosen as an excellent building material to build the scenic platforms (观景平台) of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge — the world’s largest sea-crossing bridge. Since the new bamboo-based materials were used on the platforms, they have stood sunlight, seawater and even natural disasters. Now, the scenic platforms still remain as strong as ever.

School Education/AI&Learning
Wilde

Hey, everyone. Have you heard of generative AI? It’s a type of chatbot that can create texts, pictures, or even videos all on its own. I’ve been thinking — should students be allowed to use AI for their schoolwork? What do you all think?
Dylan Patel
Posted at 4:04 p.m on 27th February 2025
I think AI is going to change how we learn. Yeah, some people worry about cheating, but there are ways to make it safer. Chatbots could be programmed to help guide us through questions instead of just giving the answers. They could also help teachers make lessons that fit each student, so no one falls behind. And AI tutors could help us anytime, day or night. AI is here to stay.
Harper Carroll

I get that technology can be helpful, but I think kids need to learn how to do things on their own first. That’s why we still need to learn maths, even with calculators (计算器) around. And why schools still teach handwriting — most adults type, but we still need to know how to write. Our brains need exercise to develop, just like our bodies. AI might benefit adults, but it’s not good for children to rely on it before mastering the basics of education.
Alexa Taylor
Posted at 8:46 a.m. on 28th February 2025

A. By playing sports every day.

A. choose B. tell apart C. follow
