But regardless of what I like to think, it seems that my students teach me. One morning, I was running so late that by the time I reached the last crossing before my school, traffic was at a standstill. What was really exasperating was that I could see the school. Had I been able to climb out of my car and walk, I might have arrived on time. Up ahead, the turn lane (车道) into the school's parking lot was empty. If I could just turn to the right, the only thing between me and the turn lane was a large field. It was rocky, and the grass was quite tall. But as I sat in my motionless car and saw all those car lights flashing (闪烁) at me, I heard that field call to me. I nosed the car out of the line of traffic and headed for that open land. Evidently there was a law. And evidently I had broken it. An officer came up to my open window, and I handed him my license (执照) without even looking at him. He asked, "Ma'am? What's going on? " I said, "Well, I overslept, and... I just wanted to get to school. I have to..." "So you're a teacher?" he interrupted. "Yes, I try...and… just needed to be on time." I heard the police officer say it again: "You wanted to be on time because you're a good teacher." At that point he paused before adding, "You were when I had you." And then I did look at him. I read the name badge (名字牌) on his chest. A former seventh-grade student of mine. He gave me a warning—not too dissimilar from the ones I'd given him years ago—and sent me on my way. And at last I arrived at my classroom, already schooled once that morning and wondering what I would learn next. 4. What does the underlined word "exasperating" in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Exciting. B. Satisfying. C. Surprising. D. Discouraging. 5. What did the author do when she was stuck in traffic? A. She called the police to help her. B. She took a shortcut to avoid traffic. C. She left her car and walked to school. D. She waited patiently in her car all along. 6. What did the police officer do? A. He guided the author out of the traffic. B. He took the author to the police station. C. He warned the author about breaking the rules. D. He turned a blind eye to the author's behavior. 7. What can we learn about the author? A. She learned a lesson from her student. B. She didn't recognize the police officer at all. C. She wasn't allowed to leave by the police officer. D. She asked the police officer to bend the rules for her. D 5. B 6. C 7. 根据第二段中的“One morning, I was running so late that by the time I reached the last crossing before my school, traffic was at a standstill. What was really exasperating was that I could see the school. (一天早上,我出发的太晚了,当我到达学校前的最后一个十字路口时,交通堵上了。真正exasperating的是,我可以看到学校)”可知,作者出发晚了,赶着去学校,快到达学校的时候却遭遇了堵车,而且她已经能看到学校了却无法快速到达,所以这是非常“让人沮丧的事”,也就是exasperating的意思,故选D。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Up ahead, the turn lane (车道) into the school's parking lot was empty. (前方,转弯车道进学校的停车场是空的。如果我能右转的话,我和转弯车道之间只有一大片空地。那里多岩石,草很高。但当我坐在停止不前的车里,看到所有的车灯都在对着我闪烁,我听到了那空地对我的召唤。我悄悄地把车驶出交通线,朝那块空地开去) ”可知,作者遭遇堵车后为了避免迟到走了捷径。故选B。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Evidently there was a law. And evidently I had broken it. An officer came up to my open window, and I handed him my license (执照) without even looking at him. (显然是有法律的。而且很显然我违反了这条法律。一位警官走到我开着的窗户前,我看都没看他一眼就把我的驾照递给了他) ”以及最后一段中的“He gave me a warning—not too dissimilar from the ones I'd given him years ago—and sent me on my way. (他给了我一个警告——和我几年前给他的警告没有太大的不同——然后把我送走了)”可知,作者违反了交通法规,这位警官警告了作者,不要让作者再违反交通规则,故选C。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“And then I did look at him. I read the name badge (名字牌) on his chest. A former seventh-grade student of mine. (然后我看着他。我看到了他胸前的名牌。我以前的一个七年级学生)”以及最后一段中的“And at last I arrived at my classroom, already schooled once that morning and wondering what I would learn next. (终于,我来到教室,那天早上已经被上过一次课了,心里想着接下来要学些什么)”可知,作者因为违反交通规则,被自己曾经的学生教育要遵守交通法规,也就是她从学生那里学到了一课,故选A。 C A new video involving John Cena is popular, but it isn't of the popular wrestlercompeting with another wrestler. No, it's 9-year-old Benjamin Russo creating a huge portrait of Cena with 750 Rubik's Cubes. The video starts with Benjamin holding up a series of cards, in which he explains he has dyslexia and struggles with reading and writing. “I mix up my words. I get very upset sometimes,” the cards read. “But having dyslexia also means I can do something amazing! Like this...”. The video then shows Benjamin putting hundreds of Rubik's Cubes into specific places. In the end, all 750 cubes have been arranged and the patterns come together to show a portrait of Cena. Then, Benjamin lifts up two more cards. They read: “Dyslexia is not my disability. Dyslexia is my superpower.” Benjamin's amazing talent caught the attention of Cena. “This young boy is proving to people that anything is possible—no matter what your learning disorder is,” Cena wrote online. “Benjamin shows up courage, determination, strength...and he's an artist!” Cena even called Benjamin “a hero of mine.” Unfortunately, the family can't buy 750 Rubik's Cubes every time Benjamin takes on a new project. However, he has already completed his next one—it's none other than Keanu Reeves. Benjamin's parents hope his story will change how people see dyslexia. “The general public sees dyslexia basically as flipping words around, and that's where it ends,” Louis, his father, said. “We never talk about the advantages and the special gifts that many dyslexics have, and Benjamin is not alone. So I think that's what we're trying to do: get the positives out there and leave the negatives behind.” 8. What worries Benjamin according to the video? A. He can't speak out at school. B. He is uninterested in writing. C. He has difficulty in learning. D. He can't solve a Rubik's Cube. 9. How does Benjamin look at his dyslexia? A. It hides his gift and intelligence. B. It has turned into an advantage. C. It has helped him behave well at school. D. It makes him embarrassed to speak in public. 10. What was Cena's attitude to Benjamin? A. He doubted Benjamin's ability. B. He gave Benjamin plenty of praise. C. He had mixed feelings about Benjamin. D. He expressed his thanks to Benjamin. 11. What do Benjamin's parents make an effort to do? A. Discover Benjamin's special talent. B. Get economic support from the public. C. Change public opinion of dyslexia. D. Buy 750 Rubik's Cubes for Benjamin. C 9. B 10. B 11. 根据第二段中“The video starts with Benjamin holding up a series of cards, in which he explains he has dyslexia and struggles with reading and writing.(视频一开始,Benjamin举着一系列卡片,他解释说自己有阅读障碍,读写困难)”可知,Benjamin担心他在学习方面会有困难。 根据第二段中“But having dyslexia also means I can do something amazing! Like this...( 但患有诵读困难症也意味着我可以做一些了不起的事情!像这样……)”以及“Dyslexia is not my disability. Dyslexia is my superpower.(阅读障碍不是我的残疾。 阅读障碍是我的超能力)”可知,Benjamin把诵读困难症看作自己的优势。故选B。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中““This young boy is proving to people that anything is possible—no matter what your learning disorder is,” Cena wrote online. “Benjamin shows up courage, determination, strength...and he's an artist!” Cena even called Benjamin “a hero of mine.”(Cena在网上写道:“这个小男孩向人们证明了一切皆有可能——不管你有什么学习障碍,Benjamin表现出了勇气、决心和力量……他还是个艺术家!” Cena甚至称Benjamin为“我的英雄”。)”可推知,Cena对Benjamin大为赞扬。故选B。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Benjamin's parents hope his story will change how people see dyslexia.( Benjamin的父母希望他的故事能改变人们对阅读障碍的看法)”可知,Benjamin的父母努力想让全社会能够改变对诵读困难症患者的看法。故选C。 D Students were eating lunch when a fire broke out at Marysville School. The incident left a big mark on students, teachers and parents as they watched the school buried in flames. All the 460 students as well as the 50 staff were left unharmed but after their school was destroyed, they had to move to another building. Lana Penley, who had started her second year as a headmaster for Marysville, said everyone needed relief from the accident. “We were already a school that struggled, and then adding the fire on top of it, we really thought we needed to find a social and emotional subject that connects to the heart to overcome our psychological damage,” Penley said. It was after the school opened its doors again that Penley and her staff found a solution in the MindUP program, founded by actress Goldie Hawn and the Hawn Foundation. MindUp helps kids who are suffering from a high level of stress develop skills they need to grow healthily in a complicated world. Penley used the program as a way to relieve mental damage from the fire, as well as support many of her students who live in poverty. Even teachers benefited from the program. Teachers got a "brain break" before staff meetings so they could recharge and focus on the task ahead. MindUp had made all the people in the school become positive. MindUp is based on research. In a study looking at the positive benefits of the subject, Kimberly Schonert-Reichl, a professor from University of British Columbia, asked fourth and fifth graders about their experience. 82% of children said they had a more positive outlook, 81% developed ways to increase their happiness, and 58% of the kids expressed a desire to help their classmates more frequently. 12. What's the problem facing the school after the fire according to Lana Penley? A. It needed money to build a new school. B. Injured students and teachers couldn't be treated at once. C. The school couldn't teach kids to deal with emergencies. D. Students and teachers were suffering from pain and they needed relief. 13. What can we learn from the passage? A. Lana Penley tried to help poor students after the fire. B. Some parents blamed the school for the fire. C. The school was in very good condition before the fire. D. Lana Penley was one of the founders of the MindUp program. 14. The numbers in the last paragraph are used to show________. A. a positive attitude has helped kids perform well at school B. this school has set a good example for others C. MindUp works well in this school D. it is beneficial to help others 15. What can be the best title of the passage? A. The MindUp program will become a must for every school B. The MindUp program helps students relieve pain C. How to rebuild a school after a fire D. How to escape from a fire at school 【答案】12. D 13. A 14. C 15. 根据第二段中““We were already a school that struggled, and then adding the fire on top of it, we really thought we needed to find a social and emotional subject that connects to the heart to overcome our psychological damage,” Penley said.( Penley说:“我们已经是一所挣扎的学校,然后再加上一堆火,我们真的认为我们需要找到一个与心灵相连的社会和情感主题,以克服我们的心理伤害。”)” 根据第三段中“Penley used the program as a way to relieve mental damage from the fire, as well as support many of her students who live in poverty.(Penley把这个项目作为一种减轻火灾造成的精神创伤的方式,同时也支持许多生活贫困的学生)”可知,Lana Penley在火灾发生后,努力帮助一些贫困的学生。故选A。 根据最后一段中“82% of children said they had a more positive outlook, 81% developed ways to increase their happiness, and 58% of the kids expressed a desire to help their classmates more frequently.(82%的孩子说他们有了更积极的人生观,81%的孩子找到了增加快乐的方法,58%的孩子表示愿意更频繁地帮助同学)”可推知最后一段中的数字是用来表明MindUp在这所学校很有效。 根据第三段中“It was after the school opened its doors again that Penley and her staff found a solution in the MindUP program, founded by actress Goldie Hawn and the Hawn Foundation. MindUp helps kids who are suffering from a high level of stress develop skills they need to grow healthily in a complicated world.(在学校重新开放后,Penley和她的工作人员在女演员Goldie Hawn和霍恩基金会创立的MindUP项目中找到了解决方案。MindUp帮助那些遭受高水平压力的孩子们发展他们需要的技能,以便在一个复杂的世界中健康成长)”以及第四段中“MindUp had made all the people in the school become positive. (MindUp让学校里的所有人都变得积极向上)”结合本文主要讲述了Marysville School利用MindUP program帮助师生走出火灾阴影的故事。故B选项“MindUp项目帮助学生减轻疼痛”最符合文章标题。故选B。 E With kids at home, you've probably noticed that they seem to never stop snacking.____16____ Sarah, a nurse from Northumberland, England, picked up a second-hand vending machine(自动售货机)for £100 and filled it with chocolate, sweets and crisps(薯片). She decided that the kids could earn money for the machine by doing chores(家务)or completing schoolwork.____17____ If they are really hungry, rather than just looking for some sugar, they can have a healthy snack for free.____18____The kids are very excited about this. She says she has been looking for a machine for a while but usually they cost over £500 but she managed to pick this second-hand one up for £100 on an online marketplace when a shop was closing down. She then went to B&M to fill it with treats. She added: "____19____I've put them in at cost price." And to make it fair, the kids made Sarah and her husband put their own favourites in too so they have to pay up if they want something unhealthy too. ____20____One said: "I love this so much! I want to have a go. It is a creative way of introducing money ideas to kids that can keep them entertained at the same time. "Another added; "I want to do this. It can help them learn about saving towards a goal." A. I'm not unreasonable. B. So Sarah Balsdon came up with a plan. C. Some people think Sarah's idea is impractical. D. Sarah Balsdon wanted to stop kids snacking at school. E. Other parents loved the idea when she shared it online. F. If they want sweets they can do chores or schoolwork to earn money for them. G. She attempted to help them understand the value of money and think before reaching for a treat. B 17. G 18. F 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 上文“they seem to never stop snacking”说明家里有孩子,零食断不了。空格处承上启下,下文“Sarah, a nurse from Northumberland, England, picked up a second-hand vending machine(自动售货机)for £100 and filled it with chocolate, sweets and crisps(薯片). She decided that the kids could earn money for the machine by doing chores(家务)or completing schoolwork.(Sarah是英国诺森伯兰郡的一名护士,她花了100英镑买了一台二手自动贩卖机,在里面装满巧克力、糖果和薯片。她决定孩子们可以通过做家务或完成家庭作业来为这个机器(里的东西)挣钱)”可知,孩子们在家总是吃零食,因此Sarah想出了一个方法,她购买了一台自动售货机,让孩子们通过做家务或完成作业赚取零用钱来购买零食。B项“因此Sarah想出了一个计划”符合文意,下文是对这个计划的具体说明。故选B项。 【17题详解】 根据上文“She decided that the kids could earn money for the machine by doing chores or completing schoolwork.(她决定孩子们可以通过做家务或完成家庭作业来为这个机器(里的东西)挣钱))”推知,Sarah做的一切是为了让孩子通过赚钱明白一些道理,G项“Sarah做这一切是为了帮助孩子们理解金钱的价值”符合题意。故选G项。 【18题详解】 上文“If they are really hungry, rather than just looking for some sugar, they can have a healthy snack for free.”说明如果他们真的饿了,他们可以免费吃一些健康的零食而不是糖果,而F项“If they want sweets they can do chores or schoolwork to earn money for them.” 【19题详解】 下文“I’ve put them in at cost price.” 故选A项。 【20题详解】 下文“One said: "I love this so much! I want to have a go. It is a creative way of introducing money ideas to kids that can keep them entertained at the same time. "Another added; "I want to do this. It can help them learn about saving towards a goal."(有人说:“我太喜欢这个了!我想试一试。这是一种创造性的方式,向孩子们介绍金钱的想法的同时也可以让他们娱乐。”另一个补充说:“我想做这件事。它可以帮助他们学会如何朝着目标存钱。”)”说明提到的这两人都支持Sarah的做法,E项“当她分享到网上时,其他父母也喜欢”符合题意。故选E项。 完形填空 Elliot is 5 years old. Undoubtedly, study tops the list because college serves as a vital platform where we build up professional knowledge and polish comprehensive abilities for our future. Meanwhile, enough sleep guarantees our physical health and keeps us mentally sharp. It lays a solid foundation for efficient study. Although socializing enriches our campus life and develops our teamwork skills, it is only a supplementary part rather than a main task. Only by balancing the three aspects reasonably can we embrace a fulfilling college life. Meanwhile, enough sleep guarantees our physical health and keeps us mentally sharp. I had one class I needed to take to graduate. It had to be a night class because I had begun working full-time for a Member of Parliament. With few options for my history major, I unwillingly registered for a Wednesday night seminar (研讨班) on Confederation. I had been a good but lazy student in high school. University was a rude awakening. Spending much time on partying, I remained a solid B and C student. Now I just wanted that diploma Professor Browne-called us formally. I was Miss Switocz, which he pronounced correctly, first try. And he was demanding. Two major papers were required, as were weekly assignments.      Professor Browne was a well-regarded scholar of Canadian constitutional history. But he liked discussing grammar and language even more than the nation’s past. He referred to Henry Fowler’s A Dictionary of Modern English Usage often as the final authority on all written English. He returned our assignments full of red markings. Every grammar failure was corrected, many sentences were improved and our thinking was challenged. A few weeks into the term, I worked harder on every assignment. As stressed as I was about the work the course required, I came to look forward to the class. I was awestruck that anyone could be so passionate about language and words. When I received my grade at the end of the course, I was excited to receive my first A. I had measured up to Professor Browne’s expectations. From Professor Browne, I learned to love language and the written word. I discovered the intense satisfaction of digging deep to produce my best. And I never had another teacher like him. After obtaining the diploma, I decided to become a high school teacher. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Last weekend, I visited Professor Browne. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 After obtaining the diploma, I decided to become a high school teacher. I earned my high school teaching certificate and taught English at Stonechester High School. Like Professor Browne, I’d assign my students written tasks every week. I returned my students’ assignments full of red markings. Every grammar failure was corrected, and many sentences were improved. My students benefited a lot from my serious and responsible teaching, and they especially enjoyed my English class. 14 years having passed, so much did I miss Professor Browne that I decided to call on him. Last weekend, I visited Professor Browne. He had white hair and deep wrinkles in his forehead, but he was energetic. He told me that he had retired. When learning I had become a teacher, he was happy for me and proud of my achievements. I told him my post-graduation stories and expressed my thanks to him. When I left, Professor Browne gave me a dictionary — A Dictionary of Modern English Usage — he referred to as the final authority on all written English, hoping I’d continue my efforts to be a good teacher beloved by my students. 词类激活: 行为类 ①喜欢:enjoy/be fond of ②表达:express/convey 情绪类 ①精力充沛的:energetic/vigorous ②高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】【高分句型1】14 years having passed, so much did I miss Professor Browne that I decided to call on him.(运用了独立主格结构以及so...that... 2】When I left, Professor Browne gave me a dictionary — A Dictionary of Modern English Usage — he referred to as the final authority on all written English, hoping I’d continue my efforts to be a good teacher beloved by my students.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句,现在分词hoping作状语,以及省略连接词that的从句作hoping的宾语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 邵东创新高级中学2027届毕业班第一次月考 英 语 试 题 听力理解 1. A. D Students were eating lunch when a fire broke out at Marysville School. 12. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
