make jokes开玩笑、make up编造、make sure确保,均不合文意。 move out“搬出”、move on“继续前进”、move away“搬走”,均不符合“升班”之意。 talk with“与……交谈”、go with“伴随”、share with“与…… show around“带……参观”、give off“发出”、give up“放弃”,均不合文意。 what“什么”、when“何时”、which“哪一个”均不符合句意。 二、阅读理解(本大题共16小题,每小题2分,共32分) A Once Upon a Time in the Middle East, also known as Welcome to Dragon Restaurant, is a highly praised anti-war film directed by Wen Muye, who is good at showing ordinary people’s growth and inner goodness amid hardships. Starring Shen Teng and Jiang Qiming, the film vividly presents the spiritual change of an ordinary Chinese chef trapped in cruel Middle Eastern warfare. Xu Fu, an experienced chef from Northeast China, fell into huge debt after a fire accident in his restaurant injured a customer. Faced with large money to pay and the duty of supporting his elderly mother and young daughter, he took a risky job as the head chef of Dragon Restaurant in Bahata, a city severely destroyed by ongoing wars. There, he worked alongside Ma Junsheng, a thoughtful and quick-witted restaurant manager familiar with local affairs. Driven only by personal interests at first, Xu Fu aimed only to earn enough money to clear his debts and return home safely. He showed little care for the sufferings of local civilians and countless war orphans, even though the restaurant served as a rare impartial zone that kept stable water and food supplies in the chaotic city. As the war grew worse, Xu Fu and Ma Junsheng were arrested and detained by a cruel radical leader known as “the Principal”, who took homeless children and trained them as self-killing bomb attackers for terrorist attacks. At first, the two partners only planned a private escape for themselves and Saif, a young orphan who had learned cooking skills from Xu Fu. However, upon learning that dozens of imprisoned children would be sent on deadly bombing tasks in days, they decided to save all the innocent youngsters at the risk of their own lives. To prevent the children from carrying out violent tasks, Ma Junsheng secretly added poisonous ‘sprouted potatoes’ to the meals, leaving all the children physically unfit for the terrorist plan. When the trick was uncovered, Ma Junsheng took full blame for the incident and was killed by the extremists. His selfless sacrifice completely changed Xu Fu’s mind. In the end, Xu Fu built up great courage to rescue all the trapped orphans, showing that true kindness can shine brightly even in the darkest moments of war. 11. What does the underlined word “chaotic” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. dangerous and disordered B. quiet and peaceful C. rich and comfortable D. clean and tidy 12. What can we infer from the passage? A. The Principal failed to carry out his bombing plan as planned. B. Ma Junsheng made the plan to poison food mainly to protect Saif alone. C. Xu Fu managed to escape from the extremist base with the help of Ma Junsheng’s relatives. D. Sprouted potatoes were the only toxic material available in the restaurant back then. 13. What is the change of Xu Fu’s attitude during the story? A. Selfish → Doubtful → Hopeless B. Careless → Fearful → Proud C. Greedy → Thankful → Regretful D. Self-centered → Shocked → Brave-hearted 14. What is the main purpose of this text? A. To describe the severe destruction brought by Middle Eastern wars. B. To comment on the director’s unique filming techniques and styles. C. To introduce the touching plot and humanistic theme of a popular anti-war movie. D. To explain how cooking skills help people escape dangerous war zones. A 12. A 13. D 14. 【11题详解】 根据第三段“in the chaotic city”以及上文“a city severely destroyed by ongoing wars”可知,这个城市被战争严重摧毁,因此chaotic意为“混乱的、无序的”,与dangerous and disordered(危险且混乱的)意思最接近。 【12题详解】 根据第五段“Ma Junsheng secretly added poisonous ‘sprouted potatoes’ to the meals, leaving all the children physically unfit for the terrorist plan.”以及“When the trick was uncovered, Ma Junsheng took full blame for the incident and was killed”可知,马俊生通过下毒使孩子们身体不适,无法执行炸弹袭击任务,虽然他被杀害,但恐怖计划未能按原计划实施,因此可以推断“the Principal”未能按计划执行轰炸计划。 【13题详解】 根据第三段“Driven only by personal interests at first, Xu Fu aimed only to earn enough money to clear his debts and return home safely.” 可知,马俊生的牺牲让徐福深受震撼(Shocked);根据第五段“In the end, Xu Fu built up great courage to rescue all the trapped orphans”可知,徐福最终鼓起勇气拯救孤儿,变得勇敢(Brave-hearted)。 B “I’m so glad we’re finally leaving this miserable place,” Brianna said to her husband Tom. They were moving to Saturn since they had lived on Neptune long enough, to know that this was not where they wanted their children to grow up. “Jimmy, get out of my room!” Mia shouted. “Come on, Mia. I’m done packing. Let me help!” Jimmy, her elder brother pleaded. Mia wondered why her annoying brother wanted to help her. But she finally gave him a blue bag. “You can take it downstairs.” Jimmy carried the bag over his shoulder, nearly falling over under the weight. “What’s in here? Rocks?” he asked. “Books,” Mia replied. “Dad told me that Mom had built us a spaceship. There’s plenty of space.” “Wow,” the children were amazed as they got on the spaceship. Soon, they were in space. The view was fantastic, but suddenly, they noticed a giant rock in their way. “Is that flying towards us?” Mia asked. “It’s an asteroid!” Tom shouted. “Everybody take cover!” Mia screamed as the giant rock hit the spaceship. Everything went dark. Mia opened her eyes. There was a ringing in her ears. She saw her mother and brother lying beside her. They were both still. Jimmy didn’t seem to be breathing. Mia put her ear to his chest. “Thump.” She could hear Jimmy’s heart beat. She kept calling his name. Jimmy slowly opened his eyes. Mia hugged her brother closely. “I’m never letting go again,” she said. “My … leg …” Jimmy mumbled. Mia let go, apologizing. “Wow,” Jimmy replied. “That was fast. Didn’t expect you to break your promise that quick.” Mia rolled her eyes. Then she found Brianna awake. She and Jimmy moved towards her, helping her upright. “Where’s Tom?” Brianna asked. They heard a faint voice. “I am here.” Together, the family made their way to the planet’s surface. As they explored, Brianna fell into a hole. “Mom!” Mia shouted. “Are you okay?” “Come down here,” Brianna called. “Aliens,” Brianna replied. Everyone jumped down. Mia noticed a blue stone behind Jimmy. “Hello!” the stone said. “I’m Pebble, and these are Stony and Gabbry.” Brianna laughed. “Pebble, Stony, and Gabbry. Cute.” “Can we stay with you?” Mia asked. “Just until we find our way to Saturn,” Tom added. Mia couldn’t believe her eyes. The Rock Aliens huddled in a group and discussed for a while. Then Pebble walked over and hugged Jimmy’s good leg. “We’ve got new roommates!” she laughed. 15. What did Mia and her family do immediately after they woke up? A. They made their way to the hole. B. A. ①-②-③-④ B. ①-③-②-④ C. ②-①-③-④ D. ②-③-①-④ 18. According to the story, what would most probably happen next? A. The family would fly to Saturn at once. B. The family would build a house for the aliens. C. The family would stay on the planet for some time. D. The family would return to Neptune as soon as possible. B 16. D 17. A 18. 【15题详解】 根据文章第11段中“Mia opened her eyes....She saw her mother and brother lying beside....She could hear Jimmy’s heart beat.” 【16题详解】 根据文章第13段中“Didn’t expect you to break your promise that quick.” 【17题详解】 根据文章情节发展,先描述全家出发前往土星,对应①“They set off for Saturn by spaceship.”;接着飞船被小行星撞击,对应②“The spaceship was hit by an asteroid.”;然后家人醒来着陆星球,对应③“The family woke up and landed on an unknown planet.”;最后遇见外星人成为室友,对应④“They met rock aliens and would be roommates.”。 【18题详解】 根据最后一段“‘We’ve got new roommates!’ she laughed.”以及倒数第二段“Just until we find our way to Saturn”可知,一家人会暂时留在这颗星球,之后再寻找去往土星的路。 C No one wants to be seen as a liar. Liars are considered untrustworthy at best and immoral at worst. And yet, we keep lying to ourselves all the time.“ I’ll enjoy this sleeve of Oreos today because my diet starts tomorrow,” I might tell myself. Or even — ironically — “I am always honest with myself”. Few people are completely honest with others. Research from the University of Massachusetts on undergraduate students found that 60 percent lied at least once during a 10-minute conversation, and many lied several times. No one is completely honest with themselves, because the truth hurts. Sometimes, people engage in (参与) self-deception to protect their ego (自尊) or gather courage. For example, if you are not good at public speaking, you might try to increase your courage before a scary presentation by talking to yourself, “I am a great public speaker!” However, to fake it till you make it is one thing; to fake it forever, even to yourself, is entirely different. Such is the case if your success at work or school is the result of cheating but you choose to chalk it up to your own merit All that self-deception takes a lot of work to maintain (保持). It is costly not only because avoiding problems can make them worse but also because the procrastinator (拖延者) must do the mental work of a task over and over, without reaping (获得) the rewards of actually getting it done. Why write “Change banks” on your to-do list for months on end instead of doing it once and being free of the task? Self-deception will never lead you to the deepest kind of satisfaction. That contentment can be found only within the true version of yourself. Personal integrity (正直) is absolutely necessary for personal progress, which psychologists show is a central element of happiness. Progress requires knowing honestly where you are compared with where you have been. If you ignore your flaws (缺点), you can’t correct them. Research shows that self-deception is connected with an inability to see our own flaws, which makes self-improvement harder. Refusing to admit that I am a bit neurotic (神经质的) might make me feel better in the moment, but it also discourages me from undertaking efforts to change for the long-term good of myself and those around me. 19. Why does the author use the example of Oreos in Paragraph 1? A. To prove that eating snacks affects people’s dieting plans. B. To show a common form of self-deception in daily life. C. To stress the popularity of Oreos among dieters. D. To explain why lying to others is harmful. 20. Why is self-deception costly according to Paragraph 4? A. It will cost people lots of money in daily life B. It makes problems worse and wastes people’s mental energy. C. It stops people from doing any housework at home. D. It will cause people to lose all their chances of success. 21. Which of the following would the writer most probably agree with? A. Making a to-do-list helps avoid lying to yourself. B. Never-ending satisfaction results in self-deception. C. Self-deception is a harmless way to protect their self-respect. D. Admitting our weaknesses is important for self-improvement. 22. What is the best title for the passage? A. The Secret to Getting Long-lasting Happiness. B. Self-deception: Don’t Cheat Yourself C. Why We Should Protect Our Self-respect D. How to Correct Our Shortcomings in Daily Life 【答案】19. B 20. B 21. D 22. 【19题详解】 根据文章第一段第三、四句“And yet, we keep lying to ourselves all the time... ‘I’ll enjoy this sleeve of Oreos...” 【20题详解】 根据文章第四段第二句“It is costly not only because avoiding problems can make them worse but also because the procrastinator must do the mental work...” 【21题详解】 根据文章第六段第一句“If you ignore your flaws, you can’t correct them.” 【22题详解】 根据文章第五段第一句“Self-deception will never lead you to the deepest kind of satisfaction.” D Technology seems to discourage slow, immersive reading Reading on a screen, particularly a phone screen, tires the eyes and makes it harder to keep one’s place, so online writing tends to be more list-like than print. The cognitive (认知的) neuroscientist Mary Walt recently argued that this more skimmable way of reading is producing “an invisible, game-changing transformation” in how readers process words, because the brain’s reading circuit (神经回路) now prefers the rapid absorption of information to the deeper skills of critical analysis. We should not overplay this danger. All readers skim. Skimming is a skill learnt in childhood. From about the age of nine, our eyes skim the page, reading only a quarter of the words properly and filling in the gaps by guessing. There’s nothing new in the fear about shorter attention spans; so far it has proved a false alarm. “Many critics have been worried about attention spans lately and see very short stories as signs of cultural decline,” the American author Selvin Brown wrote. “No one ever said that poems were evidence of short attention spans.” And yet the Internet has certainly changed the way we read. For a start, there is more to read, because more people than ever are writing. Digital writing is meant for rapid release and response: an online article begins to form comments as soon as it is published. This type can be interactive and fun, but it often treats other people’s words as materials, quickly harvested for something else. Everyone talks over everyone else, eager to be heard. Perhaps we should slow down. Reading is more often than not promoted as a social good and a source of personal achievement, yet this advocacy (倡议) often stress “enthusiastic”, “passionate” or “eager” reading, none of which suggests slow, quiet absorption. For a slow reader, a writing can only be fully understood by engaging oneself in the words and slowly understanding a line of thought. The slow reader is like a swimmer who stops counting the laps and simply enjoys how his body feels and moves in water. The human need for this kind of deep reading is too tenacious for any new technology to destroy. We often assume technological change cannot be stopped and happens in one direction, so older media like “dead-tree” books are kicked out by newer, more virtual forms. However, in practice, older technologies can coexist with new ones. The Kindle has not killed off the printed book any more than the car has killed off the bicycle. We still want to enjoy slowly-formed ideas and carefully-chosen words. Even in a fast-moving age, there is time for slow reading. 23. What can we learn from the first two paragraphs? A. Skimming will destroy readers’ ability to get the main idea quickly. B. Worries about shorter attention spans have proved to be reasonable. C. Selvin Brown believes that short stories are signs of cultural weakening. D. We can understand a writing even when reading only a quarter of the words. 24. What might the author agree to? A. “Dead-tree” books have completely disappeared with the rise of e-books. B. New technology has greatly reduced the number of young online readers. C. Readers can fully understand a text by immersing themselves in the words. D. Digital writing aims to discourage public comments as soon as it comes out. 25. What does the underlined word “tenacious” in Paragraph 5 most probably mean? A. deep-rooted B. complete C. well-known D. changeable 26. What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage? A. To argue that slow deep reading still has its place in the fast age. B. To persuade people to spend more time on digital critical reading. C. To suggest practical ways for online writers to create digital works. D. To compare the differences between screen reading and print reading. D 24. C 25. A 26. 【23题详解】 根据原文第二段“From about the age of nine, our eyes skim the page, reading only a quarter of the words properly and filling in the gaps by guessing.” 【24题详解】 根据原文第四段“For a slow reader, a writing can only be fully understood by engaging oneself in the words and slowly understanding a line of thought.” 【25题详解】 根据原文第五段“The human need for this kind of deep reading is too tenacious for any new technology to destroy.” 【26题详解】 根据原文最后一段“Even in a fast-moving age, there is time for slow reading.” You might use your mobile phones to take selfies (自拍) and make vlogs. ____27____. The Golden Globe-nominated director Lulu Wang has tried this. She shot a short film on her phone to celebrate Chinese New Year. Her film Nian is a new twist on a well-known Chinese folk story. A brave young girl wants to find a feared beast (野兽) called Nian. But when she meets him, she finds that Nian isn’t scary at all. ____28____. Shooting on a phone is much cheaper than shooting on a professional movie camera. ____29____. You can still use professional lenses (镜头) and other gear (设备) when filming with a phone, but it is the ideas themselves that matter most, according to Wang. Wang added that another good thing about shooting on phones is that it allows filmmakers to be more mobile and free. After all, phones are easier to carry around and use. “We try to find out where else we can stick our phones so we can get angles (角度) that are just a little bit more unique,” Wang said. We suddenly had a thought. ____30____ I think the size of it allows us to get all kinds of cool shots that would be much harder to get with a traditional camera.” Wang didn’t let her phone get in her way. It’s much like what photographer Chase Jarvis said,“____31____”. A. How can you make a good film? B. The best camera is the one that’s with you. C. But what about making films? D. It’s very popular among young people. E. The two build a beautiful friendship together. F. Why don’t we just put the phone inside Nian’s mouth? G. This allows young filmmakers to start making their own movies. 27. C 28. E 29. G 30. F 31. B “I’m so glad we’re finally leaving this miserable place,” Brianna said to her husband Tom. How to Correct Our Shortcomings in Daily Life D Technology seems to discourage slow, immersive reading Reading on a screen, particularly a phone screen, tires the eyes and makes it harder to keep one’s place, so online writing tends to be more list-like than print. A.
