Failure is something that everyone meets in life. Some people are afraid of it, but if we look at it in the right way, failure can also be a teacher.
Last term, my friend Li Hua failed an important maths exam. He was so disappointed that he didn’t want to talk to anyone. “Maybe I am just not good at maths,” he said. But his teacher told him, “A failure is not the end of the road. It is a sign telling you which way to go next.”
Li Hua took her advice. He went over his mistakes carefully and found that he often made careless mistakes. He began to do one more exercise every day. When he had a problem, he asked his teacher for help right away.
This term, Li Hua got a much better score. He says he has learnt two things from his failure: never give up, and always ask for help when you need it. Failure lasts just a moment, but the lesson can stay with you for life.

Passage 2(课外同源:A letter to Linlin)
Dear Linlin,
Thank you for your letter. You said you felt terrible because you came last in the school running race. Let me tell you a story about myself.
When I was in Grade Seven, I was chosen for the school singing group. But in my first show, I forgot my words in front of the whole school. Everyone laughed. I wanted to hide and never sing again.
My music teacher found me crying in the music room. She said, “Everybody falls. The question is what you do next.” So I began to practise for ten minutes every morning. I also learnt to look at the audience and smile.
Last month, I sang at the school concert, and I didn’t forget a single word. I have learnt that one bad moment does not decide who you are. Failure only becomes a real failure when you stop trying.
So, Linlin, don’t be sad. Try again next year, and run with a smile.
Yours, Wang Fei

任务四范文:Last term, I failed an important English exam. I was so disappointed that I didn’t want to talk to anyone, and I even thought I was not good at English at all. My teacher noticed my sadness and encouraged me to face my challenges bravely. She said, “A failure is not the end of the road. It is a sign telling you which way to go next.” So I made a plan. I read English for twenty minutes every morning, and I wrote down my mistakes in a notebook. When I had a problem, I asked my teacher or my classmates for help right away. This term, I got a much better score, and I have made great progress. From this experience, I have learnt a lesson: failure lasts just a moment, but if we overcome our difficulties in the right way, the lesson can stay with us for life.
