The Memory of Food
Food is not just about nutrition. It is also about memories. The smell of a dish can bring back moments from years ago. For many people, certain foods are connected to happy memories of family, celebrations, and home.
For me, the smell of dumplings always reminds me of my grandmother’s kitchen. Every Chinese New Year, my whole family would gather at her house. She would spend the whole day making dumplings. Her hands moved quickly as she rolled the dough and filled each one with meat and vegetables. I would sit beside her and try to help, though my dumplings never looked as good as hers. She would always say, “Practice makes perfect.”
Another food that brings back memories is fish. My father used to take me fishing when I was a child. We would wake up early on Saturday mornings and go to the lake. It was our special time together. We would talk about everything—school, friends, and dreams. After we caught some fish, we would go home and cook them for dinner. Those were some of the happiest times of my life.
Food memories are powerful because they are connected to people and moments. They remind us of who we are and where we come from. Sometimes, a single bite can take you back in time.
24.What does the smell of dumplings remind the writer of?
A.His school days. B.His grandmother’s kitchen. C.A trip to the beach.
25.When did the writer go fishing with his father?
A.On weekdays. B.During holidays. C.On Saturdays.
26.What did the writer and his father talk about while fishing?
A.Work and money. B.School, friends, and dreams. C.Politics and news.
27.What does the writer think of food memories?
A.They are powerful and meaningful.
B.They are not important.
C.They only remind people of food.

Chinese researchers have developed a new system that can gently stop hundred-ton aircraft during emergency (紧急的) landings on the runway. The system has recently received a national creation award.
The researchers developed a new material called foam (泡沫) concrete (混凝土). It looks like common concrete but weighs just 200 kg per cubic metre—about a tenth of the weight of standard concrete. When an aircraft runs into it, the material creates a “soft stopper” that takes in energy through controlled breaking. This allows the plane to slow down smoothly and finally stop safely.
Landing is one of the most dangerous periods of flight. International air travel rules require a safety area of at least 90 metres beyond runways. In the past, the area was filled with water, grass, soil, or sand. All of them had disadvantages: Water could become hard ice or attract wildlife, while soil strength changed with weather.
The key challenge is controlling how the foam concrete breaks down. It must have enough strength to support aircraft wheels but be weak enough to collapse when hit. For example, for large passenger planes, its strength must fall exactly between 0.30 and 0.35 megapascals (兆帕).
Unlike earlier foreign designs that depended on expensive but not long-lasting concrete, the Chinese team developed a method that made the system cheaper and more lasting. They also developed methods to put millions of bubbles into the material and control the way it turns hard, making sure it works well even after being used in the open air for a long time.
The system has now been used at 14 airports across China. Tests show that after one year, the material’s properties (性能) change by only 3%, proving its high quality.
28.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.What the material looks like.
B.How the material is made.
C.What makes the system work well.
29.What does the underlined word “collapse” most probably mean?
A.Break. B.Form. C.Appear.
30.What is the key advantage of the system?
A.It can stop an aircraft in a shorter time.
B.It can slow down an aircraft smoothly.
C.It can create a safety area of over 90 metres.
31.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To introduce a new runway safety system.
B.To explain a new flying technology.
C.To describe some possible landing methods.

Paying attention to your study habits is important if you want to learn better. 32 When you stop to think about how you study, you can often find easier or smarter ways to learn. This is called reflective learning

It can also help you stop putting things off and feel less stressed. By thinking about when and why you avoid tasks, you can change those bad habits and feel more confident.
35 In it, you can write what happened, what you did, what you learned and what you could do better. Of course, everyone reflects in their own way. There’s no one right way to do it. You don’t have to see it as additional homework. You can practise reflection anytime while you’re learning.
Remember there are no wrong answers in reflection, so just be honest and keep learning all the time.
A.Good habits help you study more effectively.
B.To reflect well, you can keep a reflective diary.
C.First, it helps you plan and decide what to do first.

Have you ever heard of the LuBan Pillow (鲁班枕)? It is 46 that it was invented by Lu Ban over 2,000 years ago. It is made out of a piece of wood without the use of nails (钉子).
It’s difficult to make the LuBan Pillow, 47 it may seem simple. First of all, craftsmen (工匠) have to choose proper material. Aged wood is their first choice. If the wood is new, they will 48 it in salt water for 72 hours and then leave it to dry naturally. After that, they draw lines on the wood and then go through several other important steps. If any part goes wrong, the whole piece of wood is wasted.
Traditionally, the LuBan Pillow was mainly used 49 sleeping and sitting. With the development of 50 , it can’t meet modern people’s needs. Therefore, Qiao Yibing, an excellent craftsman from Jinan, Shandong Province, puts most of his 51 into making creative changes. He has created many novel objects using the structure (结构) of the LuBan Pillow. The objects include chairs, desks and sofas we can use in our 52 lives. Years ago, to show his great skill, he made a 53 LuBan Pillow. It was 54 5cm long, 1.5cm wide and 0.5cm thick.

Kongzi, Confucius in English, is a great philosopher (哲学家). He lived in China from 551 BC to 479 BC.He gave China and the world deep thoughts and ideas about life and how to live it well. They are known far and wide. Also, his works are studied in many top universities.
Confucius found out three main truths about a good life. First, he said we should respect the king. Next, we should do everything possible to respect each other. Finally, he believed that we can have a really good and happy life if we learn to live in harmony (和谐). This means that we should try to find a way to live peacefully both with each other, and with the natural world.
During his lifetime, Confucius traveled across China, working as a teacher. Wherever possible, he tried to put his ideas into action. None of his wise sayings were written down while he was alive. His followers collected them after his death. Slowly, people everywhere learned about his wisdom. One of his greatest thoughts is that “Don’t do to others what you do not want others to do to you.” It tells us to put ourselves in others’ shoes: “Would I like it if others did this to me? ” For example, you don’t want others to take your pen without asking, so you shouldn’t either. It’s a wise way to get on.
Today, Confucius is believed to be one of the greatest philosophers. His thoughts and ideas are studied and spread all over the world.
56.Where did Confucius live from 551 BC to 479 BC?
57.What does living in harmony mean, according to Confucius?

选项C“首先,它帮助你计划和决定先做什么”正好引出下文的具体帮助,且“First”与后文的“It helps you manage your time...”

“Mom, guess what?” said Kayla, all smiles. “I learned how to 38 colors today! Blue and red make purple, and yellow and blue make green! And Michelle painted with us.”
To my great surprise, my child learned about colors from a blind friend! “Michelle told me my picture 39 happiness and pride. She really 40 what I was doing!” Kayla said she had never known how good fingerpainting felt 41 Michelle showed her how to paint without looking at her paper.
I realized Kayla didn’t know that Michelle was blind. When I told my daughter that Michelle was blind, she was quiet for a while. At first, she didn’t 42 me. “But Mommy, Michelle knew what was in my picture!” Kayla said. And I knew my child was 43 because Michelle listened to Kayla describe (描述) her artwork. Michelle also heard Kayla’s pride in her work.
We were 44 for a minute. Then Kayla said slowly, “You know, Mommy, Michelle really did ‘see’ my picture. She just 45 my eyes.”
Indeed, she uses a special type of “vision” that all mothers have.

only boil society for though daily said purpose tiny energy
Qiao also takes part in different cultural activities and gets in touch with universities in Shandong. His 55 is to let more young people know about the LuBan Pillow.

空后“it was invented by Lu Ban over 2,000 years ago”是流传下来的说法,所以此处考查固定句型“It is said that...”,意为“据说……”,因此选用单词said。
分析句子结构,will后接动词原形;结合“...it in salt water for 72 hours and then leave it to dry naturally”及备选词,在盐水里进行的动作应是“煮”,boil符合语境。
空后是动名词,此处考查固定短语be used for doing sth. 故填for。
his后应接名词作put的宾语,根据“puts most of his...into making creative changes”及备选词可知,此处指“投入精力去改造”,put one’s energy into doing sth.
形容词性物主代词His后需要填入名词作主语,空后“is to let more young people know about the LuBan Pillow”是在说明匠人参与文化活动、对接高校的目的,此处表示“目的、目标”,因此选用单词purpose。
Kongzi, Confucius in English, is a great philosopher (哲学家). He lived in China from 551 BC to 479 BC. He gave China and the world deep thoughts and ideas about life and how to live it well.
58.Why did Confucius travel across China?
60.What can we know from the last paragraph?
56.In China. 57.We should try to find a way to live peacefully with each other and the natural
world. 58.To put his ideas into action by teaching. 59. 60.Confucius’s thoughts and ideas are very popular in the world.
根据第一段中“He lived in China from 551 BC to 479 BC.” In China.
57.根据第二段中“Finally, he believed that we can have a really good and happy life if we learn to live in harmony (和谐). This means that we should try to find a way to live peacefully both with each other, and with the natural world.” We should try to find a way to live peacefully with each other and the natural world.
58.根据第三段中“During his lifetime, Confucius traveled across China, working as a teacher. Wherever possible, he tried to put his ideas into action.” To put his ideas into action by teaching.
59.根据第三段中“One of his greatest thoughts is that ‘Don’t do to others what you do not want others to do to you.’ It tells us to put ourselves in others’ shoes: ‘Would I like it if others did this to me? ’ For example, you don’t want others to take your pen without asking, so you shouldn’t either. It’s a wise way to get on.”
60.根据最后一段内容“Today, Confucius is believed to be one of the greatest philosophers. His thoughts and ideas are studied and spread all over the world.” Confucius’s thoughts and ideas are very popular in the world.

Chinese researchers have developed a new system that can gently stop hundred-ton aircraft
during emergency (landings on the runway. The system has recently received a national
creation award.
The researchers developed a new material called foam(泡沬)concrete(混擬土).It looks like
common concrete but weighs just 200 kg per cubic metre-about a tenth of the weight of standard
concrete. When an aircraft runs into it,the material creates a "soft stopper"that takes in energy
through controlled breaking. This allows the plane to slow down smoothly and finally stop safely
Landing is one of the most dangerous periods of flight.International air travel rules require a
safety area of at least 90 metres beyond runways. In the past, the area was filled with water, grass,
soil,or sand. All of them had disadvantages:Water could become hard ice or attract wildlife, while
:
soil strength changed with weather.
The key challenge is controlling how the foam concrete breaks down.It must have enough
O
总
strength to support aircraft wheels but be weak enough to collapse when hit.For example, for large
passenger planes, its strength must fall exactly between 0.30 and 0.35 megapascals ()
Unlike earlier foreign designs that depended on expensive but not long-lasting concrete, the
然
Chinese team developed a method that made the system cheaper and more lasting. They also
developed methods to put millions of bubbles into the material and control the way it turns hard,
making sure it works well even after being used in the open air for a long time.
The system has now been used at 14 airports across China.Tests show that after one year, the
material's properties (change by only 3%,proving its high quality.
28.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?

Paying attention to your study habits is important if you want to learn better.
32
When you stop to think about how you study, you can often find easier or smarter ways to learn.
This is called reflective learning(反思性学习)
Reflection means thinking carefully about something to understand it better. It is not about
being negative.33
Reflective learning can help you in many ways.34 With so many things like school,
family, friends and hobbies, you can feel stressed. It helps you manage your time and choose what's
most important. It can also help you stop putting things off and feel less stressed.By thinking about
when and why you avoid tasks, you can change those bad habits and feel more confident.
35 In it,you can write what happened, what you did, what you learned and what
you could do better.Of course, everyone reflects in their own way. There's no one right way to do it.

Nowadays, we can see AI everywhere in our life. Can it really solve our problems? My answer is yes.
In my experience, AI helps me with homework by explaining difficult math problems step by step. For health, it tracks my sleep and exercise through a smartphone, giving useful advice. When I feel sad, talking to an AI assistant helps me feel better.
Although AI can’t replace human contact, it makes learning easier, keeps me healthier, and improves my mood. We should use AI as a tool to help us, while still thinking for ourselves.
