Deep in a green forest, many tall trees stood together. Their leaves gave some shade (阴凉处). Animals liked to rest there. One big tree felt bored with the animals. He wanted them to go away, because he thought these animals were noisy and messy (不整洁的). His friend said, “I’m afraid your thought is wrong, my friend. The animals need us and we need them too.” But the big tree didn’t listen.
The next day, a lion came. He found some perfect seats for his friends under the big tree, but the big tree began to shake (摇动) hard. Then the lion felt unhappy and ran away. The big tree laughed.
Soon a tiger came. He wanted to sit under the big tree and rest, but the tree shook again. The tiger left, too. One by one, all animals left. They found a new place to rest—another big forest far away.

Months later, a group of men came. Each of them carried an ax in their hand. The big tree sensed what would happen next and felt a little bit worried. His friend said, “People are afraid of big animals here and they seldom come here to cut trees. The friendship between the animals and us can save us, but now the animals are gone.”
