根据“she was thinking about…it would be like to fly into space”可知,此处考查常用表达“what…be like”,用来询问什么样子。
根据“she was looking out of the window not of a bus but of a spaceship.”和“She felt nervous. But she kept at it. Soon she succeeded.”
The day I walked into Westfield High School, I felt everyone in the hallway somehow knew I was the new kid. Three weeks earlier my family moved across the country after my mom changed jobs. 41 a new school in the middle of the term felt like hitting reset on my whole life.
At lunch that first day, I ate at a corner table pretending to be very interested in my phone while 42 searching for “how to survive being the new kid”. Teen articles kept saying the same thing—feeling worried during a school transition (过渡期) is normal. That helped a little, but it still felt 43 .
The first week felt hard—I got lost looking for the chemistry class, mispronounced a teacher’s name, and accidentally walked into the wrong classroom twice. But something small started to 44 when a boy asked if I wanted to join his group in the science lab. That made the whole day easier. It was such a small moment, but it brought me a little 45 . One thing I learned quickly is that most students don’t 46 you as much as you think. Everyone is busy worrying about their own things.
Slowly, I found a way to 47 . Instead of trying to do many big things right away, I focused on simple things, like learning two classmates’ names a week and asking one question in a class. I didn’t expect these tiny efforts would make such a big 48 . Those small wins slowly built up my confidence.
By the end of the term, things looked very different. I joined the photography club and started hanging out with my classmates after school. Changing schools in the middle of the term was not 49 , but it taught me something important about resilience (适应力) and 50 . Feeling uneasy does not last forever. If you are the new kid right now, hang in there. The hallway that feels strange today may become the place where you begin your new stage of life.

空后a new school in the middle of the term“学期中途的一所新学校”,结合前文作者转学成为新生的背景,Starting“开始”符合语境。
Everyone is busy worrying about their own things.“每个人都忙着操心自己的事”,说明别人没有一直盯着你、评价你的举动,judge“评判”符合语境。
show up“露面”、stand out“脱颖而出”、come back“回来”,均和适应新集体的目标不符。
Those small wins slowly built up my confidence.“这些小小的胜利慢慢建立起我的自信”,前后呼应,confidence“自信” 符合语境。

How can we plant seven trees so that there are six rows (行), with three trees in each row? Wang Hong, now 35, still remembers the joy of solving this maths problem as a child. Today, that joy has grown into a lifelong love of maths. On July 23, she received the Fields Medal (菲尔兹奖) for solving the three-dimensional Kakeya conjecture (三维挂谷猜想). She became the first Chinese woman and the third woman ever to win this prize. However, Wang’s road to success was not easy. It was like the famous “needle” in the Kakeya conjecture: it kept turning and trying new directions before finding enough space.
At junior high school, Wang’s thinking was active but not always welcomed. She was once laughed at because she often raised her hand. Her teacher, Mr. Tang, comforted her and taught her to speak bravely and listen carefully. He also invited her to join a “Daily Problem” group to improve her maths thinking.
In 2007, Wang got into Peking University but missed the math program by a few points. After studying two majors in the first year, she transferred (转入) to math. But college-level math was tough, and most of Wang’s classmates had training in Mathematics Olympiads “I feel like I was always struggling (挣扎),” she said. In 2011, she left for France and later the US. There, she met many unsolved problems. She started to doubt whether she was good enough to do mathematical research and even considered giving up maths to become an architect (建筑师).
But later, she realized that research wasn’t about having all the answers. Even rough ideas and questions without answers still count. They all help us learn more deeply. The joy of maths lies not only in the answer. It lies in the thinking itself. And this joy finally beat doubt and led Wang to her great success.
56.Why does the writer compare Wang Hong’s life to the “needle” in Paragraph 1?
A.Her childhood influenced the maths study. B.Her path to maths included changes and turns.
C.Her success depended on hard work. D.Her prize helped understand an old maths problem.
57.What did her teacher guide her to do?
A.Keep quiet in class to avoid more trouble. B.Develop listening skills and courage.
C.Care more about social skills. D.Find a balance between speaking and listening.
58.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.It shows her hard experience brought self-doubt.
B.It compares her study experiences of different colleges.
C.It explains why Wang considered architecture.
D.It tells that olympiads training is helpful for research.
59.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Great prizes are the best reward for Wang’s talents.
B.Thinking itself can bring joy, not just final answers.
C.Researchers need to get all answers before they start.
D.We should stay away from doubt in scientific research.
60.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Reaching a Milestone B.Small Steps, Big Dreams
C.Never Stop Exploring D.When Joy Beats Doubt
【答案】56.B 57.B 58.A 59.B 60.D

Throughout our lives, we are often taught to look for just one correct answer to a question, like “What is 2+2?” or “What is the capital of India?” This “one problem, one answer” way of thinking is deeply rooted in how we learn. Seldom do we consider the possibility of multiple answers.
However, can we come up with different right answers to a question when we are asked to? To find out, I approached a group of fourth graders. I asked them, “What if there is more than one way to think about the answer to 2+2?” They shared many creative answers, such as “half of 8”, “the number of runners on a relay team” or “the number that comes after 3”. The results, as you can see, were diverse (多样的) and inventive. These students weren’t limited by the artificial “requirement” of a single right answer. They were simply asked a “What if…?” question.
So, what lies behind this question? Educator Ken Robinson observed that many schools in the UK often fail to develop students’ natural creativity. Instead, they promote uniformity and standardization Studies show that although many teachers say they value independent thinking, they often reward behaviour that is simply obedient (顺从的). As a result, we may create a workforce that follows instructions well but can hardly think creatively. In short, we tell students to colour inside the lines, but then expect adults to think outside the box.
It’s time to break free from the “single right answer” mindset. How can we do this? First, teachers should ask more open-ended questions to encourage different ways of thinking. It is also important to create a safe classroom environment so that students feel comfortable when taking risks and making mistakes. By doing so, we can better equip students to solve difficult problems with flexibility (灵活性) and creativity in the future.
76.What kind of thinking is deeply rooted in our learning?
77.Why did the writer ask fourth graders the question about 2+2?
78.How were the students’ answers to the question about 2+2?
79.According to Ken Robinson, what do many schools in the UK promote?
80.Why is it important to create a safe classroom environment for students?
76.The “one problem, one answer” way of thinking. 77.To find out whether they could come up with different right answers. 78.They were diverse and inventive. 79.Uniformity and standardization. 80.So that students feel comfortable when taking risks and making mistakes.
第一段第二句直接说明“This ‘one problem, one answer’ way of thinking is deeply rooted in how we learn.”,这种“一个问题,一个答案”的思维方式深深植根于我们的学习方式中。
77.第二段开头说“To find out, I approached a group of fourth graders.”,目的是弄清楚学生能否给出不同的正确答案。
78.第二段倒数第三句明确说“The results... were diverse and inventive”。应填They were diverse and inventive.

In the past two years, I have changed a lot.
I used to be too nervous to speak English in class and dared not answer any questions. One day, my English teacher asked me to read a sentence.
