In the past, people preferred to travel to warm places in winter. But now, many visitors are doing the opposite thing: they travel north, running after the cold and going straight into ice and snow. On Chinese social media, it has a name: “being exiled (流放) to Ningguta”.
In many TV shows about ancient China, prisoners (囚犯) are often exiled to Ningguta as a serious punishment. In reality, Ningguta was a historical place in the present-day city of Mudanjiang, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. From 1655, it became a faraway and scary place where prisoners were sent. Life there was very hard because of its freezing weather.
Today, however, Ningguta’s freezing weather has become its biggest attraction. In places like the Changbai Mountains, temperatures can drop to -20℃. Travellers put on thick coats and take sled rides — just long enough to feel the “Ningguta cold”. Some places even offer playful activities where visitors wear “prisoner coats” to act out the old exile stories.
This new kind of travel has brought about many reviews online. One traveller said, “I learned history and had fun. It was worth all the money.” Another said, “The adventure was great. I am willing to pay for it again.”
Its popularity has also greatly benefited local areas. It turns the “cold” into “hot business”, creating jobs and supporting local businesses. In this aspect, what was once a place of suffering now brings new chances to the people who live there.
11.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Travelling to warm places in winter. B.A famous Chinese social media platform.
C.The name of a popular online activity. D.Travelling north for ice and snow in winter.
12.What is the purpose of Paragraph 2?
A.To bring out Ningguta’s past. B.To show the life of ancient prisoners.
C.To praise TV shows in China. D.To introduce the weather of Ningguta.
13.What has changed the most about Ningguta?
A.Its name in history. B.Its meaning for people.
C.Its weather in winter. D.Its location on the map.
14.How have people felt about “Ningguta-style” travel according to the reviews?
A.Strange. B.Dangerous. C.Enjoyable. D.Expensive.
15.What benefit of “Ningguta-style” travel is shown in the last paragraph?
A.It improves the local economy. B.It inspires more people to move to Heilongjiang.
C.It brings about government support. D.It helps more people know about Chinese history.
【答案】11.D 12.A 13.B 14.C 15.A

Food companies design junk food to make it addictive. They label their products to make them seem much healthier than they are. And their advertisements target children.
All of this is according to a news report recently released by students in a Texas middle school. Christopher J. Bryan led a study on food-industry advertising strategies. He guided students to learn how food companies sell unhealthy products and whether such learning would influence kids’ attitudes toward junk food.
Nowadays, kids around the world prefer food high in salt, sugar and fat, largely because misleading ads make junk food seem attractive. When young people start to doubt the real purposes behind junk-food ads, they will feel they are fighting unfair situations. Bryan believes it is rewarding for kids to do the right thing.
Junk food is closely connected with many health problems, such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes. However, food companies spent nearly $9 billion on TV advertisements for unhealthy food in 2017.
Companies use different kinds of advertising methods. They use cartoon characters to make food look fun and invite famous athletes to promote sugary drinks. Advertisers know children will repeatedly ask their parents to buy the products they want. In fact, most parents fail to notice the huge influence of food ads. After growing up, people gradually get used to such advertisements and hardly realize their harm.
“Teenagers are becoming conscious of themselves,” Bryan says, “and they see a chance to make the world a better place.”
16.Food companies design junk food to ________.
A.make people addicted to their food B.help people to have a healthy lifestyle
C.improve food’s qualities and smells D.lead children to buy healthier food
17.What was Bryan’s purpose of leading the study?
A.To help kids stay away from snacks. B.To see if learning about ads influences kids’ attitudes.
C.To stop the production of junk food. D.To research kids’ daily eating habits.
18.What can we learn from the passage about food-company advertising?
A.It tricks children into preferring high-salt and high-sugar food.
B.It mainly tells parents the disadvantages of junk food.
C.It helps teenagers form good eating habits at school.
D.It offers kids true information about food products.
19.Which statement is true according to the passage?
A.Junk food has nothing to do with illnesses.
B.Parents clearly realize the harm of food ads.
C.Companies spend a large amount on junk food ads.
D.Athletes refuse to work for sugary drink ads.
20.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Parents will pay attention to kids’ health.
B.There will be fewer food ads in the future.
C.Junk food will no longer be produced soon.
D.Kids will choose snacks more wisely later.
【答案】16.A 17.B 18.A 19.C 20.D

In recent years, population problems have become serious in many countries. In the last ten years, the birth rate (出生率) has dropped quickly around the world. 21 This means that there are fewer children in each family. This is happening in both developing and developed countries.
Because of the low birth rate, some countries already have a negative growth rate. 22 As a result, people with jobs may have to pay more taxes(税). Working people will need to support more retired (退休的) people.
At the same time, many countries are facing another problem: the aging (老龄化) population. 23 This brings several challenges: First, healthcare systems are under great pressure. 24 Second, with more retired people and fewer workers, economic growth may slow down. Third, many old people feel lonely since their children may live far away or are busy with work.
25 For example, in China, the government has carried out the three-child policy since August, 2021. The Chinese government started new policies in 2025. Each child under three years old can get 3,600 yuan every year. Also, children under six can go to kindergarten for free for one year. Many countries are taking similar actions, but it still has a long way to go to solve these problems.
A.Families are becoming smaller.
B.Because old people often need more medical care.
C.This also means there will not be enough workers in the future.
D.The new policies may also help balance the population in the long term.
E.It is now necessary for every country to solve these population problems.
F.As people live longer and have fewer babies, the number of old people is increasing fast.

China’s Tiangong Space Station now has a new hot-air oven (烤炉)! Astronauts from Shenzhou-20 and 21 used it first in orbit (轨道). Now they can enjoy baked food hundreds of kilometers above Earth.
Before, most space food was pre-cooked and ready to eat, with few tastes. The new oven makes their menu better. They’ve baked “Orleans-style” chicken wings and beef steak. A video showed them putting wings into the oven. After 28 minutes, the tasty wings were done, and everyone liked them.
Baking in space is hard. Smoke and oil fumes (烟雾) could dirty the air. But this oven uses good tech to filter (过滤) smoke and collect oil, so the air stays clean. It can work at least 500 times for long missions. The oven helps make astronauts’ life better. Now the space station has over 190 kinds of food, and the menu changes every 10 days. There’s also a “space garden” growing fresh vegetables like lettuce (生菜).
Eating self-baked food not only tastes good but also makes astronauts feel happy in space.
36.What was most space food like before?
37.How does this oven make the air stay clean?
38.What is the advantage of eating self-baked food according to this passage?
39.If you could send something useful to the space station to enrich the astronauts’ life, what would you choose and why? (Write 30 words or more)

18.What can we learn from the passage about food-company advertising?
A.It tricks children into preferring high-salt and high-sugar food.
B.It mainly tells parents the disadvantages of junk food.
C.It helps teenagers form good eating habits at school.
D.It offers kids true information about food products.

A.Junk food has nothing to do with illnesses.
B.Parents clearly realize the harm of food ads.
C.Companies spend a large amount on junk food ads.
D.Athletes refuse to work for sugary drink ads.
20.What can we infer from the passage?
