四、阅读理解
In 2023, a strong earthquake hit a small mountain town in western China. It destroyed hundreds of houses and cut off the only road into the town. Within hours, rescue teams from several countries arrived to help the local people who had lost their homes.
The first task was to search for survivors under the fallen buildings. Trained dogs and special cameras helped the workers find people who were still alive. More than forty people were saved in the first two days, including a young boy who had been trapped under the ruins for eighteen hours.
International teams also brought useful experience. A Japanese engineer explained how to make quick shelters from metal pipes and strong cloth. A German doctor taught local nurses how to treat injuries when there was no electricity. Ideas and skills from different countries were shared freely.
Rebuilding the town took much longer than the rescue work. Local people and foreign helpers worked side by side to build new homes with brick and wood. They also rebuilt the school, which soon became a place where children could feel safe again.
From this disaster, people learned an important lesson. No single country has enough wisdom or power to face nature alone. When nations unify their efforts, share their knowledge and act quickly, more lives can be saved and hope can be reborn.

30.What is the main lesson people learned?

五、阅读七选五
Natural disasters have always been part of human history. We cannot stop an earthquake or a hurricane, but we are not helpless. 31 Over the years, people have found many ways to live more safely with the forces of nature.
The first step is warning. Today, scientists use satellites and computers to watch the earth and the sea. 32 A few extra minutes can give families time to run to a safe place or leave a danger zone.
The second step is prevention. In many cities, new buildings are built to be stronger than older ones. 33 In the countryside, people plant trees on the hills to stop landslides and floods.
The third step is education. Schools now hold drills so that children know what to do when the ground shakes. 34 A person who has practised once is far less likely to panic in a real emergency.
Finally, we need each other. After a disaster, strangers often become helpers, and neighbours share food and water. 35 That is how communities grow stronger after the storm has passed.
A.When danger comes, they can send warnings to millions of phones in seconds.
B.This simple practice can save lives when an earthquake strikes.
C.Some of them are even designed to move gently without falling down.
D.Living near the sea is far more dangerous than living in the mountains.
E.We can learn to understand them and to prepare for them.
F.Money spent on new machines is always money well spent.
G.That spirit of unity is the greatest strength a community can have.
