四、阅读理解
Machu Picchu lies high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, more than 2,000 metres above sea level. About five hundred years ago, the emperors of the Inca Empire built this amazing stone city among the clouds. When the empire fell, the forest slowly covered the city, and the outside world forgot it for hundreds of years.
In 1911, an American explorer found the ruins again with the help of local farmers. Today Machu Picchu is one of the most famous historical sites in South America. Every year thousands of visitors come to hike along the narrow stone paths and admire the wonderful views of the mountains.
However, so many visitors have brought serious problems. Some stone walls were damaged when people touched or climbed on them, and some visitors left their rubbish on the paths instead of taking it away. Experts warn that if people do not change the way they travel, this treasure of human civilisation may slowly disappear forever.
To save the ancient city, officials have made new rules. Now only a limited number of visitors may enter each day, and everyone must book tickets and a visiting time in advance. Visitors must also go with an official guide, who tells them the history of the site and stops them from doing harm.
The rules are working. The paths are cleaner, and the stone walls are safer than before. “Machu Picchu belongs not only to Peru but to the whole world,” a local guide says. “If every visitor takes care of it, people five hundred years later will still be able to admire its beauty.”

五、阅读七选五
A trip can be more than taking photos and buying gifts. Many travellers hope to understand a place and its people during a short visit. 31 If you follow the advice below, your next journey may touch your heart as well as your eyes.
First, learn about the local culture before you leave. Read about the history of the old city, and watch a video about its festivals. 32 When you know the story behind a castle or a temple, the old stones begin to speak to you.
Second, respect the local way of life. Dress properly when you visit religious places, and ask before you take photos of people. 33 In this way, you will be seen as a welcome guest, not just a passing tourist.
Third, travel lightly and leave nothing behind. Old sites are easily damaged, so never climb on the walls or take stones home as souvenirs. 34 A clean and quiet heritage site tells future visitors the same wonderful stories that it told you.
Finally, slow down. Do not try to visit ten places in one day. 35 Sit in a market, taste the local food and talk with the shop owners. Meaningful travel is not about counting the sights, but about feeling the place.
A.If you are not sure what to do, just follow the local people.
B.Buying local products is always better than buying expensive gifts.
C.A little preparation makes every sight much more interesting.
D.Take away all your rubbish, even a small piece of paper.
E.The key is not where you go, but how you travel.
F.A package tour usually costs less than travelling by yourself.
G.Spend more time in fewer places instead.
