The Andes, a long mountain range, runs through the whole country. To the east lies the Amazon rainforest, and in the south is Lake Titicaca, the highest large lake in the world. A travel brochure that Sam found in the library says that Peru was once the centre of the Inca Empire. In the old capital, Cusco, visitors can walk through narrow stone streets built hundreds of years ago. High in the mountains stands Machu Picchu, an ancient city that was lost for centuries before it was discovered. The brochure also introduces the culture of Peru. Long before the Incas, different groups of people lived around Lake Titicaca. Today the Uros people still make their homes on floating islands there. Spanish is the official language of Peru, but many people also speak Quechua, the language of the old empire. Reading the brochure, Sam began to plan his own trip. He checked the flight times and booked a room in a small hotel in Cusco. He also learned a few words of Quechua and wrote a list of places to see. “I want to understand the country, not just take photos,” he told his friends. For Sam, a brochure is more than paper. It is a door that opens a new world. When he reads about the Andes and the old cities, he feels that he is already there. This is why he says that careful reading is the first step of every good journey. 26.What do we know about Peru from the first paragraph? A.It is a small country in Europe. D.The Inca Empire was founded a century ago. 28.What can we learn about the Uros people? A.They speak only Spanish today. B.They built the old capital of Cusco. C.They live on floating islands. D.They came to Peru from Spain. 29.Which of the following did Sam do while planning his trip? A.He booked a flight to Spain. B.He bought a hotel in Cusco. C.He gave up the trip at last. D.He learned some Quechua words. 30.What is the main idea of the text? A.Peru is a poor country in South America. B.Learning about a place is the first step to enjoy it. C.Students should travel to Peru to study Spanish. D.Travel brochures are not useful for young people. 五、阅读七选五 A cultural trip is more than taking photos. To really understand a country, you need to learn about its history, its people and its way of life before you go.    31     A good travel brochure can be a helpful start. First, choose the right materials. A travel brochure often gives you a short but clear picture of a place. Read it slowly and mark the facts that interest you.    32     Second, look for the stories behind the sights. Every old building, statue or temple has a story.    33     When you know the story, a stone wall can become a living lesson. Third, make a simple plan. Write down what you want to see and how long you need.    34     This will save you time and help you enjoy the trip more. Finally, keep an open mind. Local people may live in a very different way from you. Try their food, listen to their language and ask questions politely.    35     In this way, your trip can become a real journey of learning. A.Find out who built it and why it was built. B.So start your learning before you leave home. C.A travel agent can book everything for you. D.This helps you decide which places matter most. E.The more you understand, the richer your trip will be. F.But a brochure cannot tell you everything, so check other sources too. G.It is wise to carry enough money with you. 参考答案 1.flight 2.official 3.type 4.destination 5.path 6.admire 7.brochure 8.empire 9.emperor 10.site 11.officially 12.admiration 13.detailed 14.hiking 15.soldiers 16.unearthed 17.statues 18.commented 19.transported 20.views 21. took control of 22. made up of 23. package tour 24. credit card 25. check in 26.B 27.A 28.C 29.D 30.B 26.细节理解题。根据第一段“To the east lies the Amazon rainforest(亚马孙雨林位于它的东部)”可知,亚马孙雨林位于秘鲁的东部。故选B。 27.细节理解题。根据第二段“A travel brochure that Sam found in the library says that Peru was once the centre of the Inca Empire.(萨姆在图书馆找到的一本旅游宣传册上说,秘鲁曾经是印加帝国的中心)”可知,宣传册告诉萨姆秘鲁曾是印加帝国的中心。故选A。 28.细节理解题。根据第三段“Today the Uros people still make their homes on floating islands there.(如今乌鲁斯人仍然在那里漂浮的岛屿上安家)”可知,乌鲁斯人住在漂浮的岛屿上。故选C。 29.细节理解题。根据第四段“He also learned a few words of Quechua(他还学了几句克丘亚语)”可知,萨姆在规划行程时学了一些克丘亚语词汇。故选D。 30.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,文章通过萨姆阅读旅游宣传册、了解秘鲁并规划旅程,说明了解一个地方是享受旅行的第一步。故选B。 31.B 32.F 33.A 34.D 35.E 31.上文“To really understand a country, you need to learn about its history, its people and its way of life before you go.(要想真正了解一个国家,你需要在出发前了解它的历史、它的人民和它的生活方式)”强调出发前就要学习,B选项“So start your learning before you leave home.(所以在离家之前就开始你的学习吧)”承接上文,并引出下文的旅游宣传册。故选B。 32.上文“Read it slowly and mark the facts that interest you.(慢慢读,标出让你感兴趣的事实)”讲的是如何使用宣传册,F选项“But a brochure cannot tell you everything, so check other sources too.(但一本宣传册无法告诉你一切,所以也要查阅其他资料)”承接上文,提醒不要只依赖宣传册。故选F。 33.上文“Every old building, statue or temple has a story.(每一座古老的建筑、雕像或庙宇都有一个故事)”提到景点背后的故事,A选项“Find out who built it and why it was built.(弄清楚是谁建造了它以及为什么建造它)”承接上文,说明如何了解这些故事。故选A。 34.上文“Write down what you want to see and how long you need.(写下你想看的地方以及你需要多长时间)”讲的是做计划,D选项“This helps you decide which places matter most.(这有助于你决定哪些地方最重要)”承接上文,说明列清单的作用。故选D。 35.上文“Try their food, listen to their language and ask questions politely.(尝尝他们的食物,听听他们的语言,礼貌地提问)”讲的是保持开放的心态,E选项“The more you understand, the richer your trip will be.(你了解得越多,你的旅行就越丰富)”承接上文,并与下文“这样,你的旅行就能成为一次真正的学习之旅”相呼应。故选E。 第1页 第1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
