It is fast and pleasant. As a tourist, I have taken the service twice and I think the service is as good as the trains I have experienced in China. Although ticket prices are not low, the tickets always sell out very quickly.

The two lost contact after donation. But Yin never forgot his help. Today, that 5,000-dollar donation has finally grown into over 50,000 trees. The desert has turned into thick woods, where wild animals come back and sandstorms are well controlled.
Missing the kind foreign friend all the time, Yin made a public video and invited Sakolsky to see the forest for himself. The video spread quickly online. An online user wrote, “You give me a drop of water, I return a sea. You plant a single tree, I give back a spring.”
With people’s help, they talked through a video call within 48 hours. Learning his small kindness created such great changes, Sakolsky felt greatly surprised and excited.
Sakolsky has always loved Chinese culture and kept sharing what he learnt in China with his students after returning home. He gladly accepted Yin’s invitation and hoped to plant trees together in person.

In the past, people preferred to travel to warm places in winter. But now, many visitors are doing the opposite thing: they travel north, running after the cold and going straight into ice and snow. On Chinese social media, it has a name: “being exiled (流放) to Ningguta”.
In many TV shows about ancient China, prisoners (囚犯) are often exiled to Ningguta as a serious punishment. In reality, Ningguta was a historical place in the present-day city of Mudanjiang, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. From 1655, it became a faraway and scary place where prisoners were sent. Life there was very hard because of its freezing weather.
Today, however, Ningguta’s freezing weather has become its biggest attraction. In places like the Changbai Mountains, temperatures can drop to -20℃. Travellers put on thick coats and take sled rides — just long enough to feel the “Ningguta cold”. Some places even offer playful activities where visitors wear “prisoner coats” to act out the old exile stories.
This new kind of travel has brought about many reviews online. One traveller said, “I learned history and had fun. It was worth all the money.” Another said, “The adventure was great. I am willing to pay for it again.”
Its popularity has also greatly benefited local areas. It turns the “cold” into “hot business”, creating jobs and supporting local businesses. In this aspect, what was once a place of suffering now brings new chances to the people who live there.
36. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A. Travelling to warm places in winter. B. A famous Chinese social media platform.
C. The name of a popular online activity. D. Travelling north for ice and snow in winter.
37. What is the purpose of Paragraph 2?
A. To bring out Ningguta’s past. B. To show the life of ancient prisoners.
C. To praise TV shows in China. D. To introduce the weather of Ningguta.
38. What has changed the most about Ningguta?
A. Its name in history. B. Its meaning for people.
C. Its weather in winter. D. Its location on the map.
39. How have people felt about “Ningguta-style” travel according to the reviews?
A. Strange. B. Dangerous. C. Enjoyable. D. Expensive.
40. What benefit of “Ningguta-style” travel is shown in the last paragraph?
A. It improves the local economy. B. It inspires more people to move to Heilongjiang.
C. It brings about government support. D. It helps more people know about Chinese history.

Imagine you have a 10-minute video to watch for your English homework, but you also want to watch a 5-minute video from your favorite vlogger With only 10 minutes to spare, what will you do? For many students today, the solution is easy: they click the “1.5x” or “2x” button (按钮). This practice, known as “speed-watching”, is changing how young people use the internet.
Speed-watching has become a common habit on many online video platforms (平台). According to reports, viewers save hundreds of years of watch time every day by speeding up videos. The most popular setting is 1.5x speed (1.5 times normal speed). Many young viewers say that watching videos at normal speed feels too slow or even boring. By increasing speed, they can turn long lectures into shorter, more engaging lessons.
But is speed-watching good for your brain? Some scientists believe it can be. Recent studies show that watching educational videos at 1.5x or 2x speed does not harm memory or understanding. In fact, it may even improve focus. When a video plays faster, the brain must work harder to understand information. This increased mental effort helps prevent the mind from wandering (开小差) and keeps viewers focused on the screen.
However, speed-watching is not perfect. While it saves time, it can sometimes reduce what researchers call “cognitive (认知) depth.” This means that even if viewers remember the facts, they may not have enough time to think deeply. If videos are played at very high speeds—such as 3x—important details or feelings may be missed. Scientists even warn that too much screen time, especially at high speed, can make teenagers lose interest in class, become impatient, and fail to think deeply.
Speed-watching is useful in the digital age. It helps viewers manage their time and stay focused. But it is also important to pause (暂停) and think. So young people should control speed-watching time and practice thinking deeply.

第一段通过一个假设场景:“Imagine you have a 10-minute video...but you also want to watch a 5-minute video...what will you do? For many students today, the solution is easy: they click the ‘1.5x’ or ‘2x’ button.”,引出“倍速观看”这一数字习惯。
第二段中“engaging”所在句为:“turn long lectures into shorter, more engaging lessons”,结合前文“normal speed feels too slow or even boring”,因此“engaging”意为“有趣的”。
第三段指出:“When a video plays faster, the brain must work harder to understand information. This increased mental effort...keeps viewers focused”,说明倍速观看需要更多脑力工作,从而提高专注力。
【44题详解】
第四段讨论了速度过快可能导致的问题:降低认知深度、错过细节、产生不耐烦等,因此主要讲“高速观看的危险”。

最后一段作者建议:“young people should control speed-watching time and practice thinking deeply.”,说明要限制倍速观看时间。

C 47. D 48. B 49. E 50. A
根据上文“Everyone gets the same amount (数量) of time each day.”及下文“Work smarter, not harder.”可知,上文提到每个人每天时间相同,下文建议更聪明地工作,C项“But there are some ways to use those hours better.”
可知,该段主题是设定任务优先权,D项“Make sure which of your tasks is the most important.”
下文“Are you smarter in the morning, afternoon or evening?”提到要考虑自己在早晨、下午还是晚上状态更好,B项“Think about the time of day you work best.”

51. A: Would you like to show me around your hometown?
B: __________________________________________.
Sure, I’d love to./Sorry, I can’t.
【详解】A句用Would you like to... Sure, I’d love to.中,Sure表示同意,I’d love to是I would love to的缩写,to后省略动词原形;否定回答Sorry, I can’t.
52. A: __________________________________________?
B: Yes, it has! My hometown has changed quite a lot.
Has your hometown changed a lot

53. A: __________________________________________?
B: I admire Yuan Longping the most.
Who do you admire the most?
54. A: What do you think of Wang Yaping?
B: ________________________________________________.
She is full of courage and wisdom
【详解】问句“What do you think of...” Wang Yaping作为中国女航天员,其典型特质正是“勇气”和“智慧”,因此“She is full of courage and wisdom.”
55. A: __________________________________________?
B: I study history by using mind maps.
How do you study history

表示“某地有某物”用there be句型:There be+主语+地点状语,主语a ship是单数,be动词用is。故填There is a ship on the sea.
I have collected many seeds since 2001.

41. What is the main purpose of paragraph 1?
A. To ask readers for advice. B. To introduce an invention.
C. To describe students’ lives. D. To present a digital habit.
42. What does the underlined word “engaging” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Tiring. B. Difficult. C. Interesting. D. Similar.
43. Why does speed-watching improve focus?
A. It reduces video length. B. It saves viewers’ time.
C. It requires more brain work. D. It makes videos more attractive.
44. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. Dangers of high-speed viewing. B. Benefits of speed-watching.
C. Methods of screen-time saving. D. Problems of deep thinking.
45. What advice does the writer give to young people?
A. Giving up speed-watching. B. Limiting speed-watching time.
