二 阅读 共两节 满分35分
第一节 阅读理解 共15小题 每小题2分 满分30分
阅读下面三篇短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D项中选出最佳选项。
A
(1) Every winter, I saved pictures of snow on my phone. Children in the pictures built snowmen and slid down white hills. I lived in Guangzhou, where winter usually looked quite different. “Nothing interesting happens here,” I told Grandma.
(2) “Give the tree outside our window a week of your attention,” she said. At first, I only saw green leaves. Then a red flower opened. Two days later, a little bird visited the tree. I began keeping notes instead of just looking for snow.
(3) At the weekend, my cousin in the north called. Through his phone camera, I saw a bare tree: every leaf had fallen, and its branches stood against the white sky. I showed him our red flowers. “Your winter has colour!” he said. “And yours has snow,” I replied.
(4) I still hope to build a snowman one day. But now I understand Grandma’s idea. A season does not have to look like somebody else’s picture to be interesting. Tomorrow I will check our tree again. Perhaps the little bird will return.
21. Why is the writer unhappy at the beginning?
A. Grandma will not buy a new phone.
B. Local winter is unlike the snow pictures.
C. The writer has no winter holiday.
D. A cousin does not want to call.
22. What does the underlined word “bare” mean in Paragraph 3?
A. Full of flowers.
B. Covered with snow.
C. Difficult to climb.
D. Without any leaves.
23. What does Grandma probably want the writer to do?
A. Notice changes in the nearby world.
B. Wait for snow beside the window.
C. Move to the north with the cousin.
D. Find more winter pictures online.
24. Why does the writer describe the video call?
A. To explain how to use a phone.
B. To show the cousin dislikes snow.
C. To compare winter in two places.
D. To describe a difficult family trip.
25. Which is the best title for the story?
A. A Phone for Grandma
B. Winter beyond Snow
C. The Bird in the North
D. How to Build a Snowman
B
(1) Why is summer warmer than winter? Some people think Earth is simply closer to the Sun in summer. This sounds reasonable, but distance is not the main cause of our seasons.
(2) Earth has an axis, an imaginary line through its centre. The axis is tilted: it does not stand straight up. As Earth moves around the Sun, the axis keeps pointing in the same direction. When the northern half tilts towards the Sun, sunlight reaches it more directly and the days are longer. That half has summer. When it tilts away, the sunlight is less direct and the days are shorter. That half has winter.
(3) This also explains why China and Australia have different seasons at the same time. In June, China is in summer, while Australia is in winter. In December, it is the other way round. They share the Sun, but they do not share the season. If distance alone caused the seasons, both halves would have summer together.
注:axis 地轴;tilted 倾斜的;directly 直接地。
26. Which idea does the writer say is incorrect?
A. Summer days can be longer.
B. Earth’s axis does not stand straight.
C. Earth moves around the Sun.
D. Distance from the Sun causes seasons.
27. What does “This” at the start of Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. How Earth’s tilt changes the sunlight.
B. How people travel between countries.
C. Why summer is everybody’s favourite.
D. Why Earth is always near the Sun.
28. Mei leaves China for Australia in December. What should she expect?
A. Both countries are in winter.
B. The days must be equally long.
C. Australia is in summer then.
D. Australia has no sunlight then.
29. How is the passage mainly organised?
A. A question, a journey and a diary.
B. A mistaken idea, a cause and an example.
C. An activity, its rules and its cost.
D. A problem, two plans and a decision.
30. What kind of text is this?
A. A personal travel diary.
B. A notice about a school club.
C. A letter asking for advice.
D. A science explanation for young readers.
C
(1) A butterfly in the park or a new leaf on a tree may seem unimportant. For Nature’s Calendar, however, such small signs help build a bigger picture of the seasons.
(2) Nature’s Calendar is a Woodland Trust project in the UK. People watch plants and animals near them and record seasonal events, such as the first leaves or the first butterfly they see. Scientists compare records from different places and years. They use the records to learn how weather and a changing climate affect the natural world. One record cannot tell the whole story, but many records together can.
(3) You can try a simple version at school. Choose a tree that you can visit easily. Record the date, the place and what you see. “A sunny day” is too general; “5 March, the tree beside Room 2, its first open flower” is much more useful. Keep watching the same tree, and share your notes with your class.
(4) Small local discoveries can become part of a bigger study. Your next walk may be more useful than you think.
注:record 记录;climate 气候。
31. Why do scientists need records from different years?
A. To find the most beautiful park.
B. To compare when seasonal events happen.
C. To choose the best school room.
D. To count every tree in the UK.
32. Which note would be most useful for a class nature study?
A. Spring is my favourite season.
B. There are many trees near my home.
C. 8 April, school pond, first frog seen.
D. The weather is lovely this month.
33. Why does the writer include the school activity in Paragraph 3?
A. To encourage readers to try recording.
B. To tell schools to stop outdoor lessons.
C. To advertise a new kind of notebook.
D. To prove every tree flowers in March.
34. Who is the passage most likely written for?
A. People selling weather cameras.
B. Drivers looking for shorter roads.
C. Scientists studying distant stars.
D. Students interested in nearby nature.
35. What is the main message of the passage?
A. Simple observations can help a larger study.
B. Only scientists can understand the seasons.
C. A photograph is enough for every record.
D. Weather is the same in every place.
