1. The kind nurse tried her best to ________ the old man’s pain with soft words and gentle care.
A. cause B. lack C. ease D. link
【答案】C

A. instruction B. organization C. discussion D. attraction
根据后半句“they came to an agreement (一致) on the project at last.”
3. Different apps on the phone make it ________ to learn English for the students than before.
A. easily B. easier
C. easy D. more easily
4. —The air here is much fresher than before.
—Exactly! We ________ plenty of trees in the last few years.
A. planted B. have planted C. were planted D. were planting
5. —Many students think AI can help with their study.
—I don’t agree. ________ AI develops fast, we still need to learn to think.
A. If B. Though C. Until D. Because
If如果;Though尽管;Until直到;Because因为。
6. The new app makes ________ easy for students ________ their spoken English online every day.
A. it; practice B. that; practice C. it’s; to practice D. it; to practice
此处是常用句型“make it + adj. + for sb. + to do sth.”,it作形式宾语,真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式。
7. It is truly ________ that she takes care of her sick neighbour every day without asking for any reward (回报).
A. comfortable B. reasonable C. admirable D. changeable
根据“she takes care of her sick neighbour every day without asking for any reward”可知,不求回报照顾邻居这件事是令人钦佩的,应填admirable。
8. —I hear that your good friend David ________ books about history.
—Yes, but now he ________ novels about amazing natural wonders.
A. used to read; is used to reading B. is used to reading; is used to reading
C. used to read; used to read D. is used to reading; used to read
【答案】A
used to read过去常常读;is used to reading习惯于读;used to do sth.意为“过去常常做某事”;be used to doing sth. 根据答语中的“but now”可知,第一空指过去常常做某事,用used to read;第二空根据时间状语“now”可知,此处指现在的习惯或状态,故用is used to reading。

Times change, and with them, so do the places we love. The day I heard that the Bright Bookstore was closing, I felt so sad. This bookstore opened in our neighbourhood 50 years ago, serving as a great place where people could connect through their shared love of books.
When I met Old Tim, the store’s owner, he told me it was difficult to run a traditional bookstore nowadays. Most young people liked reading e-books and more people bought books online.
Childhood memories came back to me clearly. A group of us kids used to come to the store. We would look through the new books, or simply chat with Tim. We spent lots of hours reading there. Tim encouraged us to share our thoughts by writing them on a large board.
A few months later, I was back and was surprised to see that the Bright Bookstore was still open for business. It was still old, but inside it was like a different world. In an area, a book reading was going on. Readers were sharing their ideas on a screen instead of the old board and some were reading books on computers. The store even had a coffee shop selling delicious food.
Tim told me that the coffee shop now hosted many community events, including book readings, concerts, and movie nights. The bookstore was turned into a place where the book lovers got together and shared ideas and experiences.
“Well, as you can see, technology and creativity have brought my old bookstore into the 21st century! I’m so glad to see that everything I wanted to offer to the community is still here,” Tim said with a smile.
No matter how times change, there are always people who love reading. With the development of technology, traditional bookstores should also change in a creative way.

A. new books B. our thoughts C. kids D. hours

B. It will bring the community closer together.

结合第一段中“Li Haoqin...studies hard...she can’t get good grades”可知①对应e;结合第三段中“Chen Xiping...likes watching TV...see the English words from my textbook”可知②对应a;根据第四段中“Lin Pingyi...likes reading English novels”可知③对应c。
结合第四段中“Lin Pingyi...has a habit of reading. I like reading English novels”可知,Lin Pingyi养成了良好的阅读习惯,A选项表述符合文意。

B. It will bring the community closer together.
