“Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?” It is popular among young people around China today. Many people are interested in it so that they take a personality test (测验) named MBTI test to find out the answer.
Many people find the MBTI useful. It groups people into 16 types (类型), which start with the letter “I” or “E”, such as ENTJ or INFP. “E” is short for “Extroversion” while “I” is for “Introversion”. “I’m an ‘E’ person. I should go to the party and make more friends.” “I’m an ‘I’ person, I’d like to work by myself. I could be a writer in the future.” They believe different types can help them make decisions for activities, jobs or even life choices more quickly.
But there are also problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it hard to answer some questions. “I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?”
When you take a personality test, you may think, “Oh, that’s me.” That’s because the descriptions (描述) are generic. They can describe many people. Studies found that over 50% people get a different result when they took the MBTI test again just five weeks later. “Personalities can change with time, and they are not “black-or-white”, scientists say. You may be an “I” person now but become an “E” person when you get older. Or, you can be both an “I” person and an “E” person. Don’t label (贴标签) yourself! Studies also show that the test is not real at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.
1.What is MBTI according to the text?
A.It’s a test about interests. B.It’s a test for the personality type. C.It’s a test about young people in China.

A.Common. B.Special. C.Different.
4.Why does the writer write the text?
A.To help people understand MBTI right.
B.To explain why MBTI is becoming welcome.
C.To encourage more people to try the MBTI test.
Do you have true friends? Do you want to know better between you and your friends? There are three different kinds of friends: “pest friends”, “guest friends”, and “best friends”.
The first kind of friend, the “pest friends”, is simply acquaintances (熟人), and all you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friend at school, at work, or on the bus, but you don’t miss them when they’re not around. When this kind of friend does something bad, you don’t tell them. That is why they are called “pest friends”.
The second kind of friend, the “guest friends”, could also be called “social partners”. They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little of what they like or dislike, and a little of their family histories; you usually have a few things in common, but you don’t talk about anything deep, such as your wishes or fears, and they don’t open up to you about how they really feel.
The last kind of friend, the “best friend”, is the one you know the deepest. You’re like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other’s houses, and you share your deepest feelings and ideas. They will correct you when you’re wrong. Sometimes they may not be perfect, but they will always care about you and never do anything to hurt you.
We all have our pest, guest, and best friends. We should value all friendships and remember that all best friends start out as just acquaintances.
1.How many kinds of friends are talked about in the article?
A.One. B.Two. C.Three.
2.If you and David are neighbors and classmates, and do things together, and always share your feelings, what kind of friends are you?
A.Pest friends. B.Guest friends. C.Best friends.
3.What does the third paragraph mainly tell us?
A.How to make a best friend.
B.What a “guest friend” is.
C.How to learn from best friends.
4.From the passage, what can we learn?
A.A “best friend” never does something bad to you.
B.We never miss our best friends when we’re not with them.
C.Pest friends are more important than guest friends.
In many people’s eyes, plants are quiet. They can’t talk. They can’t walk. They can’t think like us.
Are all of the above true? A recent TV show gives us a new look at plants. It tells us the secret lives of plants and the ways that plants behave.
Plants fight against each other to live. Each has its own way. In the rainforests, different kinds of plants race for sunlight because only two percent of the sunlight reaches the ground. Some plants spread (伸展) their big leaves to get more light. But some vines (藤蔓) try to catch them to take a ride. Finally, the balsa wood (巴尔沙木) one of the fastest-growing trees, beat all of them.
Plants also help each other and even communicate. In deserts, the roots of Euphrates poplars (胡杨), a kind of tall straight tree with soft wood, are connected. If a tree finds water, it will share it with others through the roots. It’s kind of like the way Wi-Fi works. Studies also show that plants use fungus (真菌) in the soil as a way to “talk” to each other. If a tomato plant gets a leaf disease, it can tell nearby plants about it through fungus.
The TV show not only lets us feel amazed at the plant world but also pushes us to understand that plants are important. “Plants are the basis of all life, including ourselves. We depend on them for every morsel of food that we eat and every breath of air that we breathe,” said David, the presenter of the TV show. It’s time to look after wild plants just as carefully as our houseplants.

3.What can we know from David’s words?
A.Houseplants also need our care.B.Many wild plants are in danger.C.Plants play a big role in our lives.

After 25 years of hard work, a new kind of tree-like pepper finally grows pretty well in Shaodong, Hunan. Li Pei and his team’s amazing work created this special pepper. It makes pepper farming more efficient and eco-friendly.
At first, many people don’t believe pepper plants can grow like trees. The team kept trying to solve problems and created a strong type of pepper. It can grow well in many places, such as Hunan, Beijing and Shanghai. The biggest new idea is vertical (垂直的) planting. The pepper plant can grow into a 2-meter-tall “tree” in only two months. This way, farmers can grow more peppers in the same area and use the space well. When farmers grow the peppers in greenhouses, the plants won’t get hurt by drought (旱灾) or heavy rain. What’s more, picking the peppers is easy. Farmers can stand or use small ladders to get the peppers, instead of bending (蹲) down all the time.
Zhang Feihua is a local farmer. He tries planting this new kind of pepper. The planting cost is the same as traditional peppers. It is about 3,000 yuan per mu (亩). But each tree-like pepper plant can produce (收获) 15 kg of peppers every year. That’s over four times more than traditional pepper plants. His first harvest brings him over 10,000 yuan per mu.
Now, Li’s team is introducing this type of pepper in other cities in Hunan through online lessons and on-site training. Although it needs greenhouses and takes quite some time to fully grow, they still plan to bring it to Yunnan, Guizhou and other places where people love spicy food.
1.How long does the pepper plant need to grow 2 meters tall?
A.2 months. B.2 years. C.25 years.
2.What does the underlined word “ladder” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.剪子 B.梯子 C.篓子
3.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.It costs more money to plant this new kind of pepper.
B.It needs much space to plant this new kind of pepper.
C.It brings farmers more peppers to plant this new kind of pepper.
4.What does the writer write the passage for?
A.Introducing a new type of pepper and its benefits.

Nature is full of wonderful plants and animals that are connected to our lives in many different ways. 1
Nature’s Gifts for Humans
Nature doesn’t just look nice—it also gives us many important things. Many plants give us food directly, like apples from apple trees and rice from rice fields. 2 For example, silkworms make silk, and then we use silk to make soft and beautiful clothes.
Useful and Long-lasting Plants
Redwood trees can grow to over 100 meters tall and weigh hundreds of tons. 3 Bamboo grows really fast and can be made into many things, like chairs, baskets, and musical instruments. In some Asian countries, people often plant ginkgo trees. These trees can live for thousands of years, and their leaves are even used to make some kinds of medicine.
Small Animals, Big Helpers
Small animals play a big role too. Butterflies with colorful wings help flowers by carrying pollen from one to another. 4 Bees make honey in their honeycombs which people love to eat. Frogs are helpful too because they eat insects that feed on crops (庄稼). A frog can eat thousands of bad insects each year! This helps farmers grow healthy food for us all.
Small Wonders in Nature
When we go for a walk in nature, we might see mushrooms under leaves or lotus flowers in the lakes. If we look closely enough, we might also find wild strawberries growing in the grass or pretty roses by the roadside.
All of these plants and animals are connected in the ecosystem. 5 This is why we must protect nature.
A.This process called pollination helps plants make seeds (结籽).
B.They help clean the air and are used for building houses.
C.Let’s explore some of these amazing connections!
D.Some animals also provide us with useful things.
E.Without them, our planet would lose its balance.

Living in a messy home is not enjoyable. It can make you feel worried, because you always have trouble finding things and the mess might even make you feel bad. However, a clean and tidy home can make your life more comfortable. 1
One way to start tidying up your home is to make a cleaning plan. 2 For example, one person can sweep the floor, another can clean the bathroom, and someone else can tidy up the living room. When you make plans and work together, you can make the cleaning faster and easier.
3 Put all your things together and think about what you don’t need or use. You can give these things to people who need them, like giving old clothes to those in need or giving books to libraries. You can create more space and keep your home in order after you give away things you don’t need anymore.
Lastly, make sure to put things back in the right place after using them. This will help keep everything sorted. 4 If you follow these ways, you can keep your home clean and tidy.
How can you sweep the world if you don’t sweep one house? 5 Doing chores also helps to develop students’ independence (独立性) and teaches students how to look after themselves, preparing them well for future life.
A.Doing housework is an important part of the all-round (全面的) development of students.
B.Another helpful way is to make it a habit to clean and tidy your home.
C.You can ask different family members to do different things.
D.Here are some useful ideas for tidying up your home.

“Emma is from New York, and her family moved here last week. Please make Emma feel welcome in our class!” said Mrs Black.
At break, everyone ran out to play except Emma. She sat by herself and watched them all play. “Why won’t anyone play with me?” said Emma to herself.
Later, some classmates finally came up to Emma, but when they talked with her, they realized she had an accent (口音). They laughed! Emma ran to the bathroom and cried sadly. “Why do I have to be different from everyone else? I want to go back to New York and stay with my old friends.”
After school, Emma’s grandpa came to pick her up. She told him about the bad day she had. Grandpa said, “Emma, always love yourself. You are special just the way you are.”

第一节
A heartwarming story about a mother’s love has recently gone viral (走红的) online, touching millions of hearts. It is a beautiful example of how devoted a mother can be to her child.
Liu, a young man from Shaanxi, shared his story on the Internet. When he was in junior high school, he wished for a Nike schoolbag just like the one many classmates had. But at that time, his family was unable to afford it. Instead of letting him feel disappointed, his mother — who had learned sewing at the age of 16 — decided to make a special one for him. She carefully sewed a Nike logo onto his old schoolbag by hand and added beautiful flower patterns to make it look more fashionable.
Liu was excited when he saw the redesigned bag. He treasured it not only because it looked cool but also because it was made with love. As he grew older, he understood more deeply how much effort and care his mother had put into the gift.
Recently, Liu found a photo of the schoolbag on his phone and shared the story on social media. The photo quickly received over 10 million likes. Even Nike noticed it and left a comment praising his mother’s skill. They said they would send her a gift.

Her three-year-old and six-year-old sons could buy snacks at her “mini mart” which was open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The money she gave to her kids was fake (假的) cash, which she had bought online.
Because of this system, both of her children are glad to help with housework. Her Facebook post has got over 15,000 likes and has been shared over 27,000 times. Many parents have begun to imitate her. They use the same way to discipline (管教) their children.

Mia felt upset. Her friend Emma’s house was always clean because they had a cleaner. “Why don’t we hire a cleaner?” Mia asked. Her mother replied, “Doing chores teaches responsibility (责任).”
Last week, Mia’s history teacher gave a project called “Hidden Heroes.” While researching, Mia found a story about Mierle Ukeles, an artist from the 1970s. Ukeles called housework “art” and even cleaned museums to show its importance. Mia was surprised-could chores be special?
That weekend, Mia noticed things she had never seen before: her father fixed the sink (水槽), ________, and her brother watered flowers carefully outside. She realized their home needed everyone’s care.
For her project, Mia made a video and showed pride in her family’s Saturday chores. She wrote funny titles like “Dad: Fixer and Breakfast Maker” and “Mom: Cleaning Boss.” When she showed the video, her classmates loved it. Emma said, “Maybe chores aren’t so bad.”

A.To cook meals at home at weekends.
B.To read books in the library on vacation.
C.To have fun at different festivals with different people.
3.What does the underlined word “generic” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Common. B.Special. C.Different.
4.Why does the writer write the text?
A.To help people understand MBTI right.
B.To explain why MBTI is becoming welcome.
C.To encourage more people to try the MBTI test.
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.A

【答案】1.C 2.C 3.B 4.A

4.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Amazing Trees B.The Amazing Lives of Plants C.The Number of Plants
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.C 4.B

A.2 months. B.2 years. C.25 years.

It was Emma’s first day in the new school. Emma was the tallest girl in her class.
“That girl is so tall. Is she a giant (巨人) ?” said some students in the class. Some just stared (盯) at her. Emma felt left out and shy.
The next day at school, some students made fun of Emma again. “Yes, I’m tall. Yes, I have an accent. But my differences make me special,” Emma stood up and said.

This story reminds us that the best presents are not the most expensive ones, but those made with sincerity and love. Parental love is the most valuable treasure in our lives and we should always be thankful for it.

Let’s Help with Chores Should children help with the chores? Different people have different ideas. Some students think it is unnecessary to do chores because they are too busy with their schoolwork.
However, in my opinion, it is very important for us to help out at home. First of all, doing chores helps us learn to be independent and look after ourselves. Secondly, by sharing housework, we can leave more free time for our family to do fun things together. I usually help my parents sweep the floor, take out the rubbish and wash the dishes after dinner.
In a word, doing chores is a good way to show our love and thanks to our parents. Let’s take action and help with chores!
