固定搭配work as“担任、从事某职业”;for“为了”、in“在……
固定用法give sb. money to do sth.“给钱让某人做某事”,不定式表目的,填to buy;buying“购买”动名词、bought“购买”过去式均不能表目的,不符合语法。

句中有than“比”,提示用形容词比较级;special“特别的”原级、the most special“最特别的”最高级均不能与than搭配,故用more special“更加特别的”

Blue and white porcelain (青花瓷) is one of China’s most famous art forms. People can easily know it by its bright-blue pictures on a white background. For hundreds of years, people around the world have admired its beauty. Jingdezhen, a city in Jiangxi Province, is well-known as “the porcelain capital of China” and the best place to make this kind of art.
The history of blue and white porcelain dates back to the Tang Dynasty. However, it didn’t become widely popular until the Yuan Dynasty. At that time, local workers began using a special blue cobalt paint Later, its foreign trade surged quickly. Millions of pieces of porcelain were sent to West Asia and people in many countries of Europe also began to use Chinese porcelain.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Jingdezhen became the main place for making porcelain. Both royal kilns (官窑) and private ones made works there. How was the porcelain made back then? First, the workers created a clean white base with the local high-quality kaolin clay (高岭土) in Jingdezhen. Next, they drew blue pictures by hand. Flowers, mountains and old stories were common things to paint. Then they covered the pieces with shiny glaze (釉) and last fired them in high-temperature kilns. Some were made for daily use, while others were sent to far-away countries.
Today, blue and white porcelain is far more than beautiful decoration. It shows ancient Chinese wisdom and creativity. By studying these works, historians learn about early trade and cultural exchange. Modern artists also draw inspiration from traditional patterns to create new works. Museums worldwide exhibit such pieces. Next time you see a blue and white vase, remember it carries centuries-old history and culture.
24. When did blue and white porcelain become widely popular?
A. In the Tang Dynasty. B. In the Yuan Dynasty.
C. In the Ming Dynasty. D. In the Qing Dynasty.
25. Which sentence uses “surged” with the same meaning as the underlined word?
surge /sɜːdʒ/ v./n.
A. The players surged ahead in the final minutes.
B. Orders for the hand-made goods surged during the festival.
C. A wave of pride surged inside her when she saw the exhibition.
D. Lightning can cause a power surge and make our TVs stop working.
26. According to the passage, which picture shows the third step of making blue and white porcelain?
A. B. C. D.
27. Why does the writer say blue and white porcelain is “far more than beautiful decoration”?
A. Because it can help people improve their skills of drawing traditional paintings.
B. Because it takes several steps to make one piece of blue and white porcelain.
C. Because it helps people learn about history, trade and culture.
D. Because modern artists no longer use traditional patterns.
B 25. B 26. A 27. C

根据文章第三段中“Then they covered the pieces with shiny glaze (釉) and last fired them in high-temperature kilns.”
根据文章第四段中“It shows ancient Chinese wisdom and creativity. By studying these works, historians learn about early trade and cultural exchange.”

Matthew Cuthbert drove to Bright River station to meet a boy from an orphanage (孤儿院). He and his sister Marilla wanted to have a boy to help on their farm. But when Matthew reached the station, there was no boy. At the far end of the platform sat a thin little girl with red hair and an old bag.
“The train has already gone,” the man working in the station said. “There was a passenger dropped off for you — a little girl.”
“I’m not expecting a girl,” Matthew said. “It’s a boy I’ve come for.”
The man just smiled. “Guess there’s some mistake.”
Matthew was shy and didn’t know how to question a strange girl. But he could not leave her alone at the station, so he took her home.
The girl’s name was Anne Shirley. On the way to Green Gables, Anne talked happily. “Oh, it is wonderful that I’m going to live with you and belong to you,” Anne said. “I’ve never belonged to anybody — not really.” Matthew listened quietly.
When they arrived, Marilla came to the door. But when she saw Anne, she stopped in surprise.
“Matthew Cuthbert, who’s that?” she asked. “Where is the boy?”
“There wasn’t any boy,” Matthew said unhappily. “There was only her.”
Anne looked from Matthew to Marilla. ▲ Suddenly, she understood everything.
“You don’t want me!” she cried. “You don’t want me because I’m not a boy!”
Anne broke down in tears. She had thought Green Gables would be her home. Now she felt unwanted again.
The next day, Marilla took Anne to learn about the mistake. There, Mrs. Blewett, a strict and cold woman, said she could take Anne in (收留) as a helper. Anne sat silently, her face pale.
Marilla looked at Anne for a long moment. She had expected a useful boy, not this little girl. But now she began to see Anne differently — not as a helper or a mistake, but as a lonely child who needed a home.
— Adapted from Anne of Green Gables

D
Have you ever dreamed of flying into space? On the morning of August 19, 2026, the ZQ-3 Y2 rocket took off from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Pilot Zone in northwestern China. It was the first time a Chinese private company had recovered (回收) an orbital-class booster (轨道级助推器) on land.
The ZQ-3 is made by LandSpace, a private company set up in 2015. Different from traditional rockets, it uses liquid oxygen methane fuel The new-generation fuel costs less, performs more stably and produces less harmful waste. a
There is far more to this success. The ZQ-3 Y1 sent satellites (卫星) into space in 2025, but it failed to finish the final recovery. Based on the failure data, engineers greatly improved the Y2. They made the return power system simpler and improved flight control. In addition, it could withstand extremely high temperatures when returning to the earth.
b China’s private rocket business began around 2015. Now state-led (国营的) and private space projects develop side by side. State-led projects mainly work on national tasks, such as moon exploration, space-station work and deep-space research. They put national safety and big technological progress first. However, private companies like LandSpace offer cheap and fast launch services for small-and-medium-sized satellites to meet market needs.
China’s private reusable rockets develop quickly, but problems remain. One successful landing does not mean long-term safety of rocket structures. Rules for repeated tests and checks, as well as mass production are not fully complete. c Before reused rockets can serve real tasks, there is a long way to go.
Still, this breakthrough brings great hope. Better reusable methane rockets will cut the costs and help build big satellite networks. d
32. Why does the writer start the passage with a question?
A. To ask readers to share their own dreams about space.
B. To lead readers from a space dream to the news of the ZQ-3 Y2.
C. To show that the ZQ-3 Y2 can take ordinary people into space.
D. To explain why private companies need cheaper rocket service.
33. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Liquid-oxygen methane fuel reduces costs and produces less harmful waste.
B. Private rocket companies will take over more national tasks in the future.
C. The successful return of the ZQ-3 Y2 needed several key improvements.
D. The successful landing of the ZQ-3 Y2 proves it’s ready for real use.
34. Which is the proper order for the following four sentences?
① The ZQ-3 Y2 helps us understand China’s private space industry.
② It perfectly meets the low-cost needs of space flights.
③ Besides, some experts point out that rocket landing is only a small step.
④ They will also become an important power to support and improve China’s whole space system.
A. a-②; b-①; c-③; d-④
B. a-②; b-①; c-④; d-③
C. a-①; b-③; c-④; d-②
D. a-①; b-③; c-②; d-④
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Differences between State-led and Private Rockets
B. The History of China’s Space Development
C. ZQ-3 Y2: A Big Step for China’s Private Space Industry
D. How to Build a Reusable Rocket
B 33. C 34. A 35. C

根据文章“Different from traditional rockets, it uses liquid oxygen methane fuel. The new-generation fuel costs less, performs more stably and produces less harmful waste.”可知,此处介绍液氧甲烷燃料的多重优势,句子②“It perfectly meets the low-cost needs of space flights.”承接燃料的低成本特点,与前文逻辑连贯,故a对应②;
根据文章的ZQ-3 Y2相关内容以及第四段“China’s private rocket business began around 2015.”可知,此处需要从单枚火箭的事件过渡到中国民营航天产业的整体介绍,句子①“The ZQ-3 Y2 helps us understand China’s private space industry.”起到承上启下的过渡作用,故b对应①;
根据文章“One successful landing does not mean long-term safety of rocket structures. Rules for repeated tests and checks, as well as mass production are not fully complete.”与“Before reused rockets can serve real tasks, there is a long way to go.”可知,此处围绕民营可回收火箭的现存问题与发展局限展开,句子③“Besides, some experts point out that rocket landing is only a small step.”承接前文的问题表述,进一步说明当前进展的阶段性,与后文内容衔接自然,故c对应③;
根据文章最后一段“Still, this breakthrough brings great hope. Better reusable methane rockets will cut the costs and help build big satellite networks.”可知,此处阐述本次突破的积极意义与未来价值,句子④“They will also become an important power to support and improve China’s whole space system.”

The UK government will not allow people under 16 to use social media, similar to the social media ban (禁令) in Australia. Nations such as Canada and Brazil are also developing similar protections for young internet users.
Between March and May, the government ran a public survey and received many replies from people. Nine in ten of the parents in the survey supported the rule. Two thirds of the young people also agreed. Here are some comments.
@Alina (15, 9th grader)
This ban doesn’t make sense at all. I use social media to stay connected with my school project group, and I’ve joined art communities that help me practice my drawing. If major platforms are shut off for us, many teens will turn to smaller, unknown, and unsafe apps.
@Mr. White (father of a teenage boy)
I’m over the moon. My 14-year-old boy used to stay up late chatting on these platforms, and his grades and mood both got much worse. Tech companies only care about keeping users glued to their screens, not kids’ health. They finally have to answer for the harm their products cause.
@Ms. Carter (middle school English teacher)
Our school has had a classroom phone ban for a year. It has clearly improved students’ focus in lessons. Also, this rule would give children more space to learn and grow without so much social pressure.
It’s true that the rule sounds reasonable but carries hidden risks. To prove their age, users have to hand over more personal information online and it might be dangerous for them. To make better use of social media, _________________________________
41. Can students in UK primary schools use the major social media after the ban?
_________________________________________________________
42. According to Alina, what will many teenagers do after the social media ban starts?
_________________________________________________________
43. Why do some people support the ban?
_________________________________________________________
44. What can be done to help teenagers make better use of social media? Finish the ending. (about 30 words)
_________________________________________________________
No, they can’t.
42.
They will turn to smaller, unknown, and unsafe apps.
43.
Because it protects children’s health, improves their study focus and reduces their social pressure.
44.
Parents and teachers should guide them to protect personal information. They need to manage time wisely and use social media safely to avoid potential risks while staying connected with others.

Have you heard of the “Odyssey (奥德赛) years”? This term is getting a lot of attention these days on Chinese social media. On Xiaohongshu, a popular lifestyle platform, the hashtag (话题标签) has already received 14.28 million views.
So, where does this term come from? It was first introduced in 2007 by David Brooks, a columnist (专栏作家) for The New York Times. He was inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic (史诗) in which the hero Odysseus spent ten years finding his way home, facing storms, unfamiliar lands, and repeated setbacks. Similarly, the term “Odyssey years” describes a long journey filled with uncertain and confusing feelings from school to working life, usually happening in one’s 20s and early 30s.
Why do young people get into this situation? On the one hand, our rapidly changing world makes the old ways to success no longer work. On the other hand, their own lives are all about uncertainty. They may move from one job to another, find it hard to keep close relationships, or feel unsure about who they are.
However, there is no need to fear the “Odyssey years”. Rather than see it as a failure, many young people try to enjoy the journey, as it, in part, offers them chances to learn more about their own interests and goals, and make progress by exploring more in life. For young students like you, remember: the “Odyssey years” are just another chapter in your life story. Take your time to try new things, and trust that every step brings you closer to where you want to be.
The “Odyssey years” have become popular on Chinese social media recently. This term is inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic. It tells how ____64____. Similarly, this term stands for a special time for young people. They feel ____65____ when experiencing this period. This situation mainly results from ____66____. However, there’s no need to panic. This period is not a sign of failure but a meaningful journey because ____67____.

故填uncertain and confused。
根据原文第三段“On the one hand, our rapidly changing world…On the other hand, their own lives are all about uncertainty.”
根据文章第四段“as it, in part, offers them chances to learn more about their own interests and goals”可知,这段旅程可以给年轻人机会去了解自身兴趣与目标,空格前为“because”,需填入原因状语从句。故填it helps people find their true interests and aims。

Encouraged by her, I kept practising. Soon my work became better. ____12____, friends began asking me to make things for them. I was happy that people liked my designs. Since then, I have ____18____ to myself: I make jewellery for only one person at a time, and I leave weekends free to create anything I like. I still want to improve, ____19____ I no longer compare every piece with professional ones.

The UK government will not allow people under 16 to use social media, similar to the social media ban (禁令) in Australia. Nations such as Canada and Brazil are also developing similar protections for young internet users.
Between March and May, the government ran a public survey and received many replies from people. Nine in ten of the parents in the survey supported the rule. Two thirds of the young people also agreed. Here are some comments.
@Alina (15, 9th grader)
