Mr. Li gave his students a task. They ___1___ to study a certain animal and share their findings the next day. Sophie decided to watch the insects at the greenhouse in her garden with her friend Lily.
With a camera in hand, they went into the greenhouse. They didn’t stop walking ___2___ they heard a lot of buzzes under a corner.
“Where are all these noises from?” Sophie asked.
“Look! The flies are making a lot of noises near that top window.” Lily said.
“Really? It’s too far. Why not use dad’s binoculars to see clearly?” Sophie looked around and picked up one from the shelf, “Now I can see ___3___ hitting against the window angrily.”
“Angry? ___4___ they have feelings, right?” Lily asked in ___5___. Sophie handed the binoculars to Lily, “Just ___6___ a closer look.”
As Lily watched, Sophie went on, “So noisy! Don’t you think they’re unhappy?”
Lily nodded, “They can’t fly out! The windows are shut.”
Just then, a butterfly flew by, circling near the top window. Then came ___7___ one, also flying around there. “The top window is open!” Lily shouted, “Maybe the butterflies are showing the flies the way out!”
Sophie answered, “Yes, but the flies are ___8___ angry with the shut windows to notice that.”
“I can’t find my way out when I’m angry, too.” Lily laughed.
The next day in class, Sophie and Lily’s report led to ___9___ heated discussion.
At the end, Mr. Li smiled, “Well done, girls! You tried to explain nature. Actually, flies don’t have feelings like us. They are just not as good as the butterflies at finding ways.”
“Now we know ____10____ the flies didn’t find the open window.” The girls smiled.

asked、will ask、would ask均为主动语态,不符合学生被动接受任务的逻辑。
after“在……
本句是祈使句,Just后面接动词原形,have a closer look“凑近看一看”,have符合语境。
other后一般接复数名词;the other特指两者中剩下的那一个;the others后面不能再接one。
so常与that连用;very不与to do连用;also通常放在句中。
The day I walked into Westfield High School, I felt everyone in the hallway somehow knew I was the new kid. Three weeks earlier my family moved across the country after my mom changed jobs. ____11____ a new school in the middle of the term felt like hitting reset on my whole life.
At lunch that first day, I ate at a corner table pretending to be very interested in my phone while ____12____ searching for “how to survive being the new kid”. Teen articles kept saying the same thing—feeling worried during a school transition (过渡期) is normal. That helped a little, but it still felt ____13____.
The first week felt hard—I got lost looking for the chemistry class, mispronounced a teacher’s name, and accidentally walked into the wrong classroom twice. But something small started to ____14____ when a boy asked if I wanted to join his group in the science lab. That made the whole day easier. It was such a small moment, but it brought me a little ____15____. One thing I learned quickly is that most students don’t ____16____ you as much as you think. Everyone is busy worrying about their own things.
Slowly, I found a way to ____17____. Instead of trying to do many big things right away, I focused on simple things, like learning two classmates’ names a week and asking one question in a class. I didn’t expect these tiny efforts would make such a big ____18____. Those small wins slowly built up my confidence.
By the end of the term, things looked very different. I joined the photography club and started hanging out with my classmates after school. Changing schools in the middle of the term was not ____19____, but it taught me something important about resilience (适应力) and ____20____. Feeling uneasy does not last forever. If you are the new kid right now, hang in there. The hallway that feels strange today may become the place where you begin your new stage of life.
11. A. Starting B. Visiting C. Supporting D. Enjoying
12. A. suddenly B. excitedly C. angrily D. secretly

空后a new school in the middle of the term“学期中途的一所新学校”,结合前文作者转学成为新生的背景,Starting“开始”符合语境。
Everyone is busy worrying about their own things.“每个人都忙着操心自己的事”,说明别人没有一直盯着你、评价你的举动,judge“评判”符合语境。
show up“露面”、stand out“脱颖而出”、come back“回来”,均和适应新集体的目标不符。
Those small wins slowly built up my confidence.“这些小小的胜利慢慢建立起我的自信”,前后呼应,confidence“自信” 符合语境。
(A)
Gustave Flaubert was born on December 12, 1821 in Rouen, France. He died on May 8, 1880, in Croisset, France. He is known as a great French writer who wrote in a realistic style.
Flaubert started to write when he was at school. His first work came out in a little review called Le Colibri in 1837. In 1841, Flaubert began his studies in Paris. At age 22, he was recognized to be suffering from a nervous disease and had to give up the study of law. From then on, he spent all his time writing.
In January 1846, his father passed away. In the following March, his sister Caroline also died after giving birth to a daughter. After this sad time, Flaubert moved to Croisset with his mother and Caroline’s child.
From November 1849 to April 1851, Flaubert was travelling in Egypt, Greece, and Italy. Before leaving, he wanted to finish La Tentation. For three days in September 1849, he read it to his friends. One friend said, “Burn it and forget it.” Another thought the story was not real enough.
In 1850, after returning from Egypt, Flaubert began work on Madame Bovary, which took five years to write. In 1858, he started writing Salammbô. He also wrote a play in 1863 called The Castle of Hearts, but it didn’t come out until 1880.
In his last years, Flaubert had many troubles. In 1875, his niece Caroline’s husband, Ernest Commandville, had money problems. Flaubert used his own money to help him. Flaubert then sought comfort in his work and in the friendship of George Sand and Ivan Turgenev. He died suddenly from illness. Food companies design junk food to make it addictive. They label their products to make them seem much healthier than they are. And their advertisements target children.
All of this is according to a news report recently released by students in a Texas middle school. Christopher J. Bryan led a study on food-industry advertising strategies. He guided students to learn how food companies sell unhealthy products and whether such learning would influence kids’ attitudes toward junk food.
Nowadays, kids around the world prefer food high in salt, sugar and fat, largely because misleading ads make junk food seem attractive. When young people start to doubt the real purposes behind junk-food ads, they will feel they are fighting unfair situations. Bryan believes it is rewarding for kids to do the right thing.
Junk food is closely connected with many health problems, such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes. However, food companies spent nearly $9 billion on TV advertisements for unhealthy food in 2017.
Companies use different kinds of advertising methods. They use cartoon characters to make food look fun and invite famous athletes to promote sugary drinks. Advertisers know children will repeatedly ask their parents to buy the products they want. In fact, most parents fail to notice the huge influence of food ads. After growing up, people gradually get used to such advertisements and hardly realize their harm.
“Teenagers are becoming conscious of themselves,” Bryan says, “and they see a chance to make the world a better place.”
26. Food companies design junk food to ________.
A. make people addicted to their food B. help people to have a healthy lifestyle
C. improve food’s qualities and smells D. lead children to buy healthier food
27. What was Bryan’s purpose of leading the study?
A. To help kids stay away from snacks. B. To see if learning about ads influences kids’ attitudes.
C. To stop the production of junk food. D. To research kids’ daily eating habits.
28. What can we learn from the passage about food-company advertising?
A. It tricks children into preferring high-salt and high-sugar food.
B. It mainly tells parents the disadvantages of junk food.
C. It helps teenagers form good eating habits at school.
D. It offers kids true information about food products.
29. Which statement is true according to the passage?
A. Junk food has nothing to do with illnesses.
B. Parents clearly realize the harm of food ads.
C. Companies spend a large amount on junk food ads.
D. Athletes refuse to work for sugary drink ads.
30. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Parents will pay attention to kids’ health.
B. There will be fewer food ads in the future.
C. Junk food will no longer be produced soon.
D. Kids will choose snacks more wisely later.
26. A 27. B 28. A 29. C 30. D

(C)
“Wow! Look at that! Isn’t it a real fish?” The bionic (仿生) fish, named “Jinlin”, was swimming lively like a real one. It was developed by researchers at Shanghai Ocean University. This invention isn’t just for fun—it shows how humans copy nature to solve problems. That is a science called bionics.
In bionics, scientists learn from nature’s clever survival advantages and apply them to human designs. Over millions of years, animals and plants have developed smart ways to survive. For example, kingfishers (翠鸟) are experts at moving fast between air and water with very little noise. Through study, scientists discovered that their long beaks (喙) enabled this ability. Then they used the knowledge to change the front of the high-speed train. This change cut down the noise level, increased speed by 10% and greatly saved energy.
Besides, driven by robotics and AI, bionics has grown rapidly. The AI-powered bionic fish “Jinlin” can be used for environmental protection and deep sea exploration. In medicine, bionic arms can work similarly to real arms. Sensors (传感器) allow the user to “feel” touch and pressure. Motors help the bionic arms make movements, like human muscles (肌肉). With AI, the bionic arms are able to “learn” new tasks and become smarter over time. These inventions are examples to show how bionics bridges biology and new technology to solve new problems.
Although so much progress has been made, bionics faces challenges. Nature’s designs are hard to copy perfectly. As for bionic arms, one key area of development is brain-computer connection. More work on direct communication between the brain and bionic arms is required to control movements as naturally as real arms. Researchers are also working on creating new materials and structures that can sense and repair themselves.
While there’s still a long way to go, the future of bionics is full of possibilities. Stay hungry. Stay foolish. Maybe you’ll be the next one to change the world!
31. Why does the writer mention “Jinlin” at the beginning of the passage?
A. To suggest some new ideas. B. To lead into the topic of bionics
C. To explain the habits of fish. D. To show the importance of bionics.
32. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A. Robotics and AI have developed fast because of bionics.
B. The bionic fish “Jinlin” is used for medical purposes.
C. Motors allow the bionic arms to make movements.
D. Sensors help bionic arms learn new tasks over time.
33. How is the passage organized?
A. B.
C. D.
34. Which of the following shows the use of bionics?
A. Drawing a picture of birds by watching real birds.
B. Building a house with natural materials like wood.
C. Designing a camera by copying some insects’ eyes.
D. Learning to dance by studying monkeys’ movements.
35. What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?
A. Bionics has already copied nature’s designs perfectly.
B. Brain-Computer connection is no longer needed for bionic arms.
C. New self-repairing materials for bionics have been widely used.
D. There is still plenty of room for further development in bionics.
B 32. C 33. B 34. C 35. D

Throughout our lives, we are often taught to look for just one correct answer to a question, like “What is 2+2?” or “What is the capital of India?” This “one problem, one answer” way of thinking is deeply rooted in how we learn. Seldom do we consider the possibility of multiple answers.
However, can we come up with different right answers to a question when we are asked to? To find out, I approached a group of fourth graders. I asked them, “What if there is more than one way to think about the answer to 2+2?” They shared many creative answers, such as “half of 8”, “the number of runners on a relay team” or “the number that comes after 3”. The results, as you can see, were diverse (多样的) and inventive. These students weren’t limited by the artificial “requirement” of a single right answer. They were simply asked a “What if…?” question.
So, what lies behind this question? Educator Ken Robinson observed that many schools in the UK often fail to develop students’ natural creativity. Instead, they promote uniformity and standardization Studies show that although many teachers say they value independent thinking, they often reward behaviour that is simply obedient (顺从的). As a result, we may create a workforce that follows instructions well but can hardly think creatively. In short, we tell students to colour inside the lines, but then expect adults to think outside the box.
It’s time to break free from the “single right answer” mindset. How can we do this? First, teachers should ask more open-ended questions to encourage different ways of thinking. It is also important to create a safe classroom environment so that students feel comfortable when taking risks and making mistakes. By doing so, we can better equip students to solve difficult problems with flexibility (灵活性) and creativity in the future.

(C)
